3rd/4th generation mustang or camaro/firebird (350 only for third gen f body). Spend at least 4 grand on the ca, and a few more on restoration and/or handling mawdz, embrace the mullet, and you're out the door well under 6 grand. Then when you want to make more power, there's a lot hidden away in those choked 80s engines.

>has to be RWD
don't know why because asside from that shit the Civic Si fits everything

The 350 is just God tier. You can replace headers, put a new holley carb and cam in the engine for like 800$ and make a guaranteed 150-200 hp extra.

piss off
335i is the best used car you can buy under 20k

It's a Mercedes-Benz, so great german reliability
Not a bavarian shitbox

Are either of these available with MANual transmission or are they autotragic only like the 500E is?

older gen mustang gt, i got mine for 22k with 15k miles, got dynoed and it makes around 485 to the crank

>Benz drivers are lazy old fucks there are no Manuals.

>daily drive a old MANUAL petrol powered W124 Mercedes Benz
>it's actually a surprisingly fun car with good handling characteristics but lacks power
>look into it's sportier version: 5000E
>It comes with a V8 and Porsche designed suspension...
>FUCK YEAR Now we are talking.
>... and it is autragic only.
>FUCK.
>Look into newer AMG models
>again perfect apart from being autotragic only
What the fuck is wrong with this world? Seriously why aren't they putting the manuals to their sportier models and automatics in the models that actually are bought by lazy fucks that don't care about performance or driving dynamics?

I don't think I've ever heard of bearings in the newer Cayman engines failing

The 2.0T ATS

Because for the longest time automatic was considered a luxury and manuals were for basic bitch models
Now its the norm, but luxury car buyers are still not interested in manuals in their daily drivers or grand touring cars

These are so hilariously cheap for what's essentially a 4 door Camaro. With the magnetic suspension they handle incredibly well

>Mclaren SLR has the same 5 speed autotragic as my dads 1999 c class
>I have it now too
>my next car will have it most likely too
Its like they unintentionally made the best gearbox and forgot to make a manual counterpart that can withstand close to the same power (1000nm)

You actually WANT an 86?
Get an 86. Disregard the memes.

miata (modded)

>crank hp

S2000

buy a Miata and mod it up to 200hp. easily under 23K and extremely reliable

should have added electric motors to the front wheels.
and less fat.

Manual transmission swaps have been done to the early AMGs on rare occasions but I've never heard of modern AMGs with m/t.
But whatever, imagine a 1997 C36 AMG with m/t. It won't get better than this.

wouldn't be worth getting shat on every time you mention it on Veeky Forums. might as well get a gt86

how's the 2.0t and manual trans in this?

the only downside is that it has an awful exhaust note, but mods pretty well

almost rarer than a unicorn but a manual cts-v isn't that rare.

Get a Toyota GT86 fampai

There are dozens of 2.0l manuals for sale in the Toronto area just off lease

turbo miata

No, the bmw reliability meme is not a meme

Well, Baden-Württemberg is kinda close to Bavaria.

They made that tranny in like 1990 and seriously over engineered it, last I checked the S65 was still using it in 2013

You probably think a stiff chassis means a car with hard spring rates, don't you?how embarrassing

>implying anyone on Veeky Forums knows Baden-Württemberg
99.99% know Bavaria and Berlin, that's it.

It is a meme if the bmw in question has a naturally aspirated I6, those will run forever. The 335i is a nightmare when it comes to maintenance because of its early turbo I6. The newer turbo I6's are pretty solid though.

NA/NB Miata with a tarbo

Mazdaspeed miata

335i is probably the best tuner car out there right now. Can make a shitton of HP, RWD, you have forged internals, you can upgrade turbos, etc. But the reliability is shit. The n54 was notorious for requiring $4k on the side for repairs every year. HPFP, Blown turbos by 75k, wastegate rattle, gasket, i can go on all day. With the introduction to the N55 in 2010, BMW ironed out the majority of the previous engines problems, but at the cost of HP. The n54 (dual small turbo) engine tunes higher than the single turbo n55 engine.
So what i'm trying to say is the engine on that car is good, the problem is everything else it requires to run.

What is closest thing to reliable as fuck BMW 335i that one can get?

Yeah, it's only with 5 or 7-speed-auto, but you gotta consider that this car is also a convertible. I speak from experience when saying that a manual gearbox is really distracting when driving a convertible

F150 ecobooost. There is no other answer

C5 corvettes are $10-15k now, which leaves 8-10k for sikk mawdz. Some updates in suspension and maybe a tune/turbo and you'll be over 300 hp for >$20k. And corvettes are reliable DD's that can get 30 mpg on the highway.
