Before upstab, I hated spears. I'm glad more mods are starting to have it (or at least a submod is being made to include it).

AI with spear and shield are fucking useless. They can poke in one direction and get butchered if the enemy stands too close to them.

AI with spear and shield and upstab are godly. They can poke in two directions so ranks further back have a chance to attack and you can form a proper shield wall with them. The enemy cannot charge head-on into a wall of spears and expect to be able to just wail away at them.

Does anyone know a way of 'saving' formations or a mod/tweak for this, specifically in/for VC?

I ask because I usually use the same tactics in most battles. I start by putting my spearmen upfront of everyone else to take out the enemies charging cavalry, then have them hold positions and open ranks and have my infantry fill in between the spearmen. I put archers of to my right side with calvary and skirmishes on the left to help me take out the enemy lord.

I hate having to do all these fucking commands each battle, plz help.
