I was actually against a Shinobi in duels earlier who complained how unsafe and stamina-draining the kick was. He said it was easy to counter because I could light him during it, even though he confirms a heavy if I do that and he only needs 5 of those to kill me, whereas I need 6+ lights to kill him. He also said I could just grab him during the double dash, which I did a couple of times but mostly out of luck.

Beat him a bunch, but man he had this weird idea that Shinobi was bad because he didn't know how to abuse his kick to its fullest and kept trying to do unsafe as fuck ranged attacks.

It's not spectacular but it's not awful. You can't punish him with a heavy if you knock him down when he fails a ranged attack, though.

Same goes for Shinobi's kick

Even if you perfectly dodge Shinobis kick you cannot punish him because he can parry/tech instantly after.
