I hate how every elder scrolls and fallout has the problem where you can just visit each weapon store and buy the bestest weapon in the game. NV with gunrunners kiosk was especially bad for this.

Yeah, especially when you realize that every gun is fuckhuge so they fit PA hands and that the small amount of different guns is explained by the weapon modding you can do. And when you realize that they were so lazy that they couldnt even rip the lever action reloading from NV and implement it correctly.

FNV had more than a few improvements that Fo4 just completely ignored (like ammo crafting/switching comes to mind). It's almost as if Bethesda purposefully ignored FNV in development.

I didn't even realize PA was the reason the weapons were huge. It might be nostalgia, but I remember NV having a much wider variety of weapons.

I'm lvl 3 and iv got power armor, a minigun, and a fat man with plenty of mini-nukes.
Usually this is the point I stop playing fallout games and iv hit it 2 hours in.

Didn't Obsidian almost break the game trying to get that animation to work? And it's still buggy as shit in the final product.

They said it was a total pain in the dick to implement thanks to the way bethesda handled ammo pools and totals in 3.

You could exercise self control and not use the Fatman. Also good luck keeping that Power armor fueled for long at that level.

I only ever legitimately used a Fatman consistently in New Vegas: And that was to one-shot the Legion assassins that could each tank 12+ .50bmg rounds to the face. And damage wise its the more realistic of the two, between FO4 and New Vegas!

That was a great weapon in FNV. The custom ammo types could be bought regularly, Esther was really cool, and there wasn't a shortage of beefy enemies to use it on. That could be assassins, irradiated Lonesome Road remnants, deathclaws, NCR troopers if you're having a bad day, or Cazadores if you want to avoid having one.

All the zeal in the world can't keep a .50 round from splitting a legionnaire's head like a big water balloon, though. Let alone a dozen rounds.

Missing some weapons and some have been merged with different categories because FO4 does away with things like energy heavy weapons and SMG's and so on.

I'd consider Fatman to be the least offender in that case, to be honest. What more offensive is ludicrous amounts of healing, food, drug and other items that game throws at you.

Fatman is a situational weapon, not to mention heavy as fuck. Other stuff breaks gameplay and economy way too harder.

Hell, seven years on and the sight of those damned things still sends a chill down my spine.
It really bothers me how fucking _slow_ melee/unarmed is in Fo4 now. Looking at anew at a FNV video makes it really painfully obvious. You can get probably 3~5 swings in during the time it would take for even one swing with a Fo4 Combat Knife.

To carry on my question, what should I be looking for in each territory? The problem is that most of those separate mods/plugins are actually patches or components otherwise. What the hell can I do at this rate? I'll never be able to pare it down to 120.

Grab Merge Plugins Standalone and get busy. I reduced my Fo4 LO by almost 300 plugins with that.

You have to explicitly run the new nvse_loader.exe file. That will hook into the game's executable. This is the exact same procedure as for Fo4 and TES5.
Mind that grabbing a cracked version of the FNV exe (even if you own it legitimately...) will allow you to flip the LAA flag with e.g. CFF Explorer, and avoid needing yet another binary in the chain-loading.

Is there no way to hook the nvse into steam? I like having my playtime counted and taking screenshots with it.

I have a supply line coming from one of the commonwealth settlements into Longfellow's Cabin. But I just unlocked the Visitor's Center settlement and I have access to my materials here even though I haven't set up a supply line to this settlement.

Executing the NVSE loader injects code directly into the Steam-supplied binary, which _should_ still bring in the associated Steam features like playtime. Honestly, I don't know why people attach importance to any of that crap, though.

Yeah, and it even evolved from an earlier xEdit script. Definitely a necessity for serious modding endeavors. Watch out for navmesh conflicts though - those are a bit of a bear to fix.

The point is this is suppose to be a post apocalyptic survival RPG, and they are throwing expensive rare shit at me like its a post scarcity utopia RPG. I keep finding food, meds, ammo, good weapons and purified water everywhere.

You still need to snap in the vault power conduits, iirc. Those should radiate the necessary power, but still be themselves powered by the vault corridors.

Hey /fog/, been a long time since I played fo4, a big reason I dropped it was because collecting and maintaining mods was a pain.


Have any total overhauls like wanderer's edition or P:N come out for fo4 yet? I haven't touched any dlc content from the season pass and still want to do one more play through.

Give me some alternate rule to save within in survival besides sleeping in beds, that's dumb and I disabled it but don't want to just spam autosave every 3min.

There's a mod out there that basically implements a saving holotape into the world that works like resident evil ink ribbons. They're in the leveled lists, so you find them in lockers and stuff, and you can toggle whether or not you need to find a terminal to put them in, or if you can just use your pipboy to save. After using them, they expire.
