All-Terrain Edition Previous jej: The thread is dedicated to all games about building machines and systems out of blocks, in space or otherwise. Also, all these games are ded. Only ded games may join, otherwise they must have their own thread. Whether or not a game belongs in /egg/ is a case by case matter, however games that would belong in /svgg/, space voxel games general, are automatically considered /egg/

Factorio memers.
How do I make this smelter set up better. I see to have hit a mental block on ways I should improve and optomize this set up.
Pls help

Why are your modules all retarded? Unless that's aid, in which case it's time for modules.
Ryder Clark
They all have productivity mods in them.
Matthew Morales
staggered line of electric furnaces with productivity, the gaps are filled with underground belts and inserters, every 2nd line is beacons with speed
length is obviously adjustable for red or blue belts, be aware that this eats so much power that you will cry for more uranium in no time

Well the setup of the furnaces is fine unless you need beacons.Ypuve got standing plates on a blue belt though, so you either need another belt or find the bottleneck and balance it properly if youre starved somewhere downstream.

Productivity modules without accompanying speed beacons is a no-go. There's a great writeup describing time required for prod modules to pay for themselves, and essentially they take far too long to be worth it without speed modules.
Robert King
looks really neat

I start to believe that putting all three chips production in one place wasn't best idea.

I can still just someday decide to just cut green chips out, paste like 200 sassemblers somewhere else and start shipping them to Silicon Valley like nothing happened
Adam Garcia
That's not really much of an issue with furnaces when you can easily expand. With nuclear, it's not even worth arguing energy costs.
Noah Rivera
Well I found out why I can't play any multiplayer games but get perfectly fine download speeds. Anybody here a network /egg/ineer?

Weave your belts. > Productivity without speed beacons Stop.
Ian Brooks
Even if you can expand furnace count, you're still being very cost and space inefficient, and the time for a prod module to pay itself off is still significant without speed modules.
John Gutierrez
>All those undergrounds >just to save on space Ha, no. That's pointless without beacons. >productivity without speed Why is that an issue with furnaces? Just make longer lines.
David Cox
alright which one of you is this absolute madman?
Asher Edwards
Hey! I'm proud of my spaghetti. Those furnaces were one of the last additions to my base. It's literally stuffing the last real estate.
> no beacons 1) Tier 3 modules are expensive. Using less T3 modules is good. 2) A T3 speed module boosting the prod furnace will multiply output by 1.7 (speed 120%/70%). 3) That speed boost, ignoring the beacon's cost, will multiply your overall energy cost by .75. (330%/260%energy => / 1.7x processing rate)
Nathan Gutierrez
>1.7 Bullshit. 2 T3 productivity modules is 20% more product, 30% less speed. That's an effective 90%. Speed that up by 50%, that's 135%, not 170%.
Gavin Ramirez
Sorrtly, 140%. Modules are additive, not multiplicitve iirc
Jeremiah King
So why is Cross-out so lacking in telling the player what they can do? 90% of players I see don't even know you can self destruct, its ridiculous.
James Wood
Product boost is different from base processing speedThe base speed with product modules is reduced to .7. Add a T3 speed beacon to add .5. That gives 1.2 speed.
1.2 / .7 => 171.4% more fast.
James Collins
Fuck if I know, what key is it? Even I didn't know you could do that.

Debating on whether or no to download Crossout. Give it to me straight guys, is it just another gaijin jew project? I've seen you guys saying it's grindy, but how grindy? Unbearably grindy? Just a little? I've gathered that the playstyle of the game is similair to Robocraft & read about the crate/fuel/scrap system etc. but how bad really is it.
Jackson Bailey
Only slightly. The only grindy thing is structural parts, you get handed weapon after weapon after weapon. Fuel is easy to grind for raids. Just put a fuel barrel on in a place it won't get shot off and go play once or twice. Boom, raid fuel. Play raids to get copper. Sell the copper for prem currency on the market. Use the prem currency to either buy weapons or to rent a bench to craft them.
Josiah Cooper
>increasing speed by 50% increases speed by 170% What kind of bullshit math is this?
Ian Phillips
I managed to fix it, anyone who has the same problem look up "netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface=", this is a fucking miraculous fix.
Jacob Miller
the one where speed %'s are additive
Leo Edwards
It's called real math, kid.
Increasing 10% speed to 20% speed only adds 10%, but it doubles the output. Increasing 70% to 120% adds 50%, but the output is 1.7x what it was before.

I'm more curious as to why >multithreaded physics Happened literally after the discussion on multithreading. If /egg/ discusses general optimization strategy, netcode, and shit, would that fix spengies?
Caleb Foster
So far that new spengies 'optimization' update released a couple weeks ago (not the new one, I think) seems to have just decreased render distance on everything by multiple magnitude. I've seen a few weird instances of things not being effected by physics at all though, so they might've really messed with how physics are calculated now too
Jonathan Roberts
Where the hell do I get more structure parts in crossout? I want to build a heavily armored gun truck but I don't have anything to make the armor out of.
Cameron Long
>Where the hell do I get more structure parts in crossout? Level up with engineers and level up with your secondary faction. Scavengers might have the beefiest armor parts but don't quote me on that.
Dominic Price
How do people organize train depots? The last time I tried, with an unload everything/sushi-belt sorting loop, it immediately got clogged with bullshit.
Isaac Cooper
Copper depot, Iron depot, Oil depot.
All other spaghetti trains are on a gluten free basis.
Hunter King
Yes, but how are things actually sorted? Say I set up a green circuit production area. It needs iron, copper, and to haul the green shit away. Do I need three train stops? Is there a way to say "only load the circuits when a green train is parked?"
Ethan Price
Train inventory can be filtered. Pick up an item and middle click the inventory slots a billion times.
It's generally easier to use filter inserters and hope for the best.
Jonathan Flores
>how physics are calculated I'm guessing by multithreaded they mean multiple collisions are calculated separately at the same time, rather than in order. This could lead to some odd behavior if you hit the one thing with two objects at the same time.

There's an official tutorial video where they said it. And also say you should aim for the wheels and guns. There isn't a link to the video from the game at all though.
In-game they don't even say you can rotate parts with R too. You can strafe with legs using Q and E. The blast from explosive weapons (everything that isn't melee or machineguns/shotguns) can hurt you. Horn is H and lights are L.
Levi Richardson

So I guess in Cross out you can't stack multiple Cooling Modules except for the first white one, but you can use one of each rarity and still get cumulative effects. So two blue rarity coolers wont work together, but having a blue cooler and a purple cooler works.

>There's a great writeup describing time required for prod modules to pay for themselves, and essentially they take far too long to be worth it without speed modules >1 T3 productivity .935 units/time of which 0.085 are free items
>1 T3 productivity + 1 T3 speed 1.485 units/time of which 0.135 are free items
These numbers are compared to an unmodified assembler which produces 1 unit/time, of which none are free as it has no productivity bonus. With the first setup, you're getting 0.085 free items/time for the price of one module. Adding a speed module doubles the cost (*), but it does not double the rate at which you get free items. So I don't know if I'm missing something, but to me it looks like speed modules only mean it takes longer for the productivity modules to pay off.
(*)A bit less if you factor in the cost of assembler, inserters, belts, power poles and what not -

Once people get passed lvl10 they can do "normal raids" which gives them loadsa copper. Copper was also cheap as fuck in closed beta because of this.
There were often times I could spend gold and buy all the crafting parts I needed, buy crap and copper, and then sell whatever I crafted, and make a profit.
Jeremiah Phillips
>There were often times I could spend gold and buy all the crafting parts I needed, buy crap and copper, and then sell whatever I crafted, and make a profit. Realize that if this applies people will overdue this and without an expanding consumer base, the economy will collapse to where everything but rare stuff is cheap. Over time it will all be worthless, allowing for a socialist revolution. That is, unless artificial demand is created. This is how a market economy sustains itself, expand or die.
Matthew Gutierrez
So guys, what shitty rock music should I toss in my playlist for Crossout? I've already grabbed some Kid rock and a few Kiss songs.
