Bulletproof as long as the cooling system is adequately maintained.

my grandad has owned this engine for the past 18 years
Nothing has ever broken or gone bad on it within 18 yrs

VW 2.0 8v

Slow but fucking simple and indestructible

Which engine is this?

Germany Yes!

Agree. Also. See pic. This engine in 1.8 and 2.0 form is becoming a legend for tuneability and strength. This engine takes it like a high dollar call girl and cleans up afterwards.

2UZ-FE is life, 2UZ-FE is love.

Are there any modern reproduction Packard-Merlin V12s?

Ford's 300 cubic inch straight 6.

People give it so much shit, but it was a great engine for it's time.

Absolute patrician

But objectively the best sounding v8 ever produced. No discussion

I have one. It's a shit motor other than longevity

trying to get into cars, or atleast be more knowledgeable about them. when it comes to engines, what are the limiting factors behind the power they generate? number of pistons? Total combustion chamber size? max rpm while guessing what effect GVW has on the rpm delta/s? compression ratios? fuel type? engine, cam & combustion chamber stylings obviously important too. do engine mods like FAI really make that much more power?

I guess everyone all the time is trying to develop the best engine -- but how do you know which engines are better than others just based off the numbers? or do you just come to memorize or expect that an engine from a 1.5 ton 2L 4 cylinder WRX is just better (faster) than one from a 2 ton 4.6L 6 cylinder f150? like if you were to swap the two the f150 would smoke the wrx.

>try to find exhaust note on youtube
>every single video is recorded on a potato so it sounds like shit
The fuck

best engine is a vagina.
It starts with 1 finger, is self lubricating and does its own oil change once a month

Such is life in australia

I hear good things about 1.8Ls but what about 20v turbos?

fuel injected 2 stroke

Ecoboost 3.5l best engine platform on the market.

>Ecoboost 3.5l shittest engine platform on the market and it ain't got shit on the 5L Coyote.
ftfy

V8 has to high of a part count and doesn't fit behind axles. The 5.0 will never be used an a racing application.

You're right.

Second gen ecoboost is pretty quick for what it is.

Based glorious engine.

The 4.6l is a v8 friend, hence why it would "smoke it" but yea it's alot about just learning what each engine was used for, it's niche. Combo' d with a fuck ton of personal bias and a dash of real experience.

You're not wrong, those thing just refuse to die.

This thread is lacking in straight-5s.

This man knows.

You want bulletproof? My mom drove my grandpa's '65 Mustang a couple miles with the oil light on and it case hardened the block. That car's got more than 330K miles on it and it's still running great with the same engine.

pathedic.
My friend drove couple hundred of miles with the oil light disconnected in his sw20 and after hunting twisties for half a day we poured 2.5litres of oil into it before the dipstick got wet.

My 2005 BMW engine has 600+k miles, still gets great fuel mileage, decent power.

Why must freight shipping take so long? Had to argue about the lift gate charge as there's a skid steer outside with pallet forks.

I don't care. I just want to go leaf peeping before everything starts dying.

Ford's 300ci 4.9L straight six

Too bad its not still in production.

>can't see anything at all
Y u do dis

The thread is for Favorite engines, not necessarily the best. I've just spent the most time with the 6g series and the pretty wide use of applications for them. Supercharged, turbocharged, twincharged, mated to awd, smooth vvt, strong internals, bore out to 4.0. You can actually put optima heads on the 6g72 and 74 for DOHC but i haven't seen much on what gains that yields.

I'm thinking of buying a Valiant with the 170 slant and a manual. Is it too bad for a DD? Is there much to do since I don't have the real estate to really work on the car in the parking lot of my complex.
