Is there supposedly good years for the rx8? I know I've heard not to buy 04's. sleep tight brapper.

yeah, generally, you'd want the series 2 ('08+)

Series IIs would be the best since they have 3 OMP ports instead of 2 like a series 1, revised rear suspension geometry, front suspension rigidity, and lower final drive.

In 05 they changed the ECU tune to inject more oil, which is why 04s are not recommended. You can get it reflashed, but not everyone has and they've been run this whole time with less oil injected on the apex seals. Doesn't help US cars recommend 5w20 for emissions and fuel economy, wearing the rotor main bearing prematurely. Unfortunately you can't swap the series II 3 port OMP onto a series 1, the ECU can't run it. Premixing is recommended especially on series 1s because of that, and a sohn adapter is a good idea so it doesn't draw oil from the crankcase, instead from a separate reservoir of 2 stroke oil.
