From what I've heard, the SW20 is faster but the AW11 has slightly better handling. Also remember the AW11 would be older and have more rust issues. I'd say get an SW20 unless you're one of those people that are really infatuated with the AW11.

Also AW11s cost about a million times more than the SW20s, even turbo ones.

You can get an AW11 for less than 5 grand all day, last time I checked.

I wish I lived there, but in Europoor land it's a different case then. The cheapest ones here are about 5k€, but they're gutted and raped and have been autocrossed to death and you need to spend +10k€ for a car that is road legal and most of those are in parts or have been autocrossed too.

for dirt cheap factor you can get an old ST183 celica

Overall the car is fun to drive, taking off at a stoplight is cool. If you can get a manual, the auto is a meme.

Get a sierra or something that gets you a RWD.
Even i3 bluemotion diesel RWD is better than 500hp v8 pushrod twin turbo fwd.
For general enjoyment always go RWD first. RWD is always way way more fun than FWD
