The fuck Suzuki?

>140hp
>1045kg (2303lburgers)
What are they doing differently? How can they make cars so light? Are they cheating somehow?

If Suzuki is cheating what is Mazda doing then?

also cheating but has two less seats

Dont think that's correct user.
The 2.0 is over 1000kg

Years of kei expertise.

Kei car history, and a very no-bullshit approach to building cars in general. You really don't get much more than you need in the interior, which leaves more budget for a great engine and chassis.

It actually comes with far more tech than necessary

really cheap and thin steal

Pretty sure the new one in your pic is actually under 1 ton

The base model is.
Not the sport.

970kg they were claiming at frankfurter. The old one was 1040.

>Are they cheating somehow?
No it's just Suzuki has always been masterly at making fun compact cars with a well balanced lightweight chassis and clever packaging.

Thank God fucking cheats VW failed to tame Suzuki and steal their core technologies.
In the end VW ended up making pathetic shit like the Up!

the new base model is actually under 900kg

the base model (5 speed manual + 1.2L NA) is 840kg.

Even the mild hybrid RS version is 910 kg. They are incredibly light.

970kg for 6 speed manual
990kg for 6 speed auto

fug. Wish we got these in burgerland.

There are rumors of a North American return for Suzuki, starting with the Vitara. Sadly it's turned from a tiny capable offroader into a baby Range Rover Evoque, but at least they're still making the Jimny and they even have a retro as fuck facelift planned for that.

lol no, even in the early 90s kei cars had shit like automatic rain sensing wipers

Why don't you burgers get swifts? We get them in kangaroo land, they are safe as fuck

We have shit taste and hate small light cars.

Suzuki pulled out of the North American market in 2012 due to poor sales. They only sell bikes and ATVs now.

Why buy a souped up swift when you could buy a new SV650 instead AND a used barge for practicality for the money?

they sell much more cars than mazda globally and mazda is doing fine in the us
how hard would it be to take all their 3rd world techniques and sell enough cars to the US?

I'm sure Mitsubishi is next.

I wish we had better options with the small car market. America is ruled by Trucks and huge SUVs.

That's gay
The miata would beg to differ.
I suppose the previous gen swift was ugly compared to a cute lil' miat though. Unlucky.

Previous gen was cutest gen

Mazda's an established brand that sells fun driving econoboxes with upscale features for a good price. They do really well in Canada

Suzuki on the other hand specializes in 3rd world shitboxes and other cars that can be sold here

I suppose they are pretty cute. I've never particularly liked them because I've only ever seen chicks driving it.

>Mitsubishi
they are still here?

Still pumping out boyracer lancers, just no more evos

If you consider soccer mom's driving crossovers then yes.

Its ugly and therefore not worth it. I want that frog toyota.

Yes of course user, that's why American cars are so heavy "high quality steal".

I hope they make it available in orange for that authentic gooks of hazard look.

so basically my mr2 spyder but not mid-engine or rear-wheel drive

why would you buy this

cheap new
fuel efficient
cheap insurance
back seats
easier to drive

how is it easier to drive, the mr2 is incredibly easy to drive

> snap oversteer
with good tires this only happens if you do something seriously wrong

Perfect arguments if you're a yurocuck.

You very well know that was only the top end kei cars and not for the cheap ones

they put all the pigfat on their bikes

Suzuki specialises on making practical cars for Japanese cities. Retard.

its the successor of the aveo but the swift sport is actually good and could almost be a base model in a civilized country.

Apparently Renault Nissan will bring lada to north america but its going to be Mitsubishi with even more shitty crossover.

>What are they doing differently? How can they make cars so light? Are they cheating somehow?
virtually no insulation, tons of other thin materials. Engine is probably small, frame is thin and small too, and the suspension isn't that complex so thats also light.

This. My NA market 2600lb suzuki wagon is basically a tin can on wheels. It's the body, a thin sheet of plastic then the plastic interior panels. No insulation whatsoever. The engine is decently powerful though and puts out more power than a Honda.

They did a great job on the design in my opinion too

I'm a burger with an affinity for domestic cars but I've always absolutely adored Suzukis. They need to return to burgerland. The swift gti and samurai won't tide me over forever (maybe)

so basically back seats. but never underestimate the importance of back seats.

>how is it easier to drive, the mr2 is incredibly easy to drive
>> snap oversteer
>with good tires this only happens if you do something seriously wrong
this.
MRS defies physics in any way you want as long as you keep that throttle down and didn't go cheap on rubber.

But honestly not that guy to say that since I think 1zz in mrs is enough but that suzuki needs at least 180hp.
140hp in MRS is fun because it is light, low and wide with power to the rear from rear.
That suzuki while light makes only 140hp and it's xbox huge.

Does the sport have good seats? Thats the main selling point for me.

A pillar's angle looks like it would bend easier on an accident

Obviously cheap steel is less dense than expensive steel

Any crash test videos?

>A pillar's angle looks like it would bend easier on an accident
user, there are crash standards to which even Suzuki has to comply.
It would by company suicide if the pillars were weak and the last gen also got decent crash ratings so there are no worries.

fiat 500L has the same angle A pillars that fiat has gotten 5 stars with but fast forward to small overlap crash you can see how easy they bend.

>small overlap crash
Small overlap crashes are the freshest meme of those crash testing companies.
I wonder when they will introduce the penis penetration testing

I was actually surprised by how well this did in the small overlap test. NCAP doesnt do small overlap, but gave it 3/5 stars

youtube.com/watch?v=-7eALvKZFfc

It is a light car, therefore everything does not have to be as hard as on a car twice the weight.

Hence those small overlap tests are absolute garbage because imagine this getting hit by a SUV coming at it at 60mph

Are you suggesting that the imovable concrete wall doesnt do a good job representing a severe impact?

Check out the Ignis crash

youtube.com/watch?v=tbluhIxpgxU

Virtually no roof or even pillar deformation while this was still really common just a couple years ago.
And the Ignis has really thin pillars compared to other cars

>JAPANESE STEEL
>FOLDED A THOUSAND TIMES TO PERFECTION BEFORE USED AS A PILLARS
So this is the true legacy of the (Suzuki) Samurai, kek

...

>Moderate overlap test is perfect

Wow great job eurocucks... welcome to mid 90's american safety standards. Let's see how that same vehicle handles the small offset front crash test.

youtube.com/watch?v=EjynD0ZW420

When did the new mustang subcompact come out??

>small offset front crash test.
great meme

>Dat 20kmph pedestrian avoidance fail
I kek'd to hard at that one.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=XLBHok6DnQ8

Anime trailer.

>learn2materialscience

that isnt a small overlap test

easy, they just removed all the good styling from the last gen.

Man, that's a car I'd buy if I'd go for a hot hatch, lightness rocks, fuck the ultra hardcore nurburgring dwellers.

Wtf I love Suzuki now

>safe
I know they score well on the tests, but I've never seen them look good after an accident.

This on top of bikes.

I'm sad we won't get this fucking thing in burgersvile.

WTF I LOVE SUZUKI NOW

Have an upvote for "thick american steel" meme.

Mazda 2 is also very light, I've heard it's using hollow bolts and shit like that to keep weight down.

This is such a good ad, holy shit.

Lightweight RWD Suzuki coupe when?

If they can produce Busa, who don't they make a monster car?

It scored favorably in NCAP test so fuck it

S-SHE'S FAST!

...

How about a Yamaha? Motorcycle car

>Lightweight RWD Suzuki coupe when?

This.
They're not getting anywhere because they get ignored.
Bringing something like that would get them lots of attention.

>Revs Your Heart

rev this

Looks neat. Is there any idea about price?

I never imagined I could be this excited for a Suzuki

>buy awd version
>remove front axle shafts
>weld/ screw center diff
>light rwd dd
One can dream I guess, maybe one day

I prefer Kawasaki

>They had to make it turbocharged

God there are no more NA 4cylinders coming out anymore and that makes me sad.

If Kawasaki made a car, would it be a Carasaki?
In fact, would a Yamaha car be a Yamacar?

youtu.be/3bpDt0FicoE

>Yamaha car be a Yamacar
Then, Honda should be called Honcar

I agree.

the sad day is when bigger engines all end up with turbos

ICE is literally on its way out.
Anything you see are just attempts to kinda keep the shit running until battery costs come down.

A "driving 70MPH at a big ass blade test" will come first.

Pedestrian head impact to bonnet tests. kek

>suzuki makes a car, calls it suzuki
>suzuki make a bike, calls it suzuki
Based suzuki doesn't need no marketing tricks and made up names

>his car doesn't have a 5-star rating in the "getting catapulted at car top speed into a giant buzz saw"-test

>VW failed to tame Suzuki and steal their core technologies.
oh how the tables have turned

don't forget the side impact steel beams in the doors and other safety bullshit that needs to be added to burgerland cars.
