At what gas prices will you put down your car?

At what gas prices will you put down your car?
What is the highest price you would tolerate/be able to buy and still drive your car daily?

Where I won't be able to afford living and keeping the car at the same time

Which is ironic, because I cant have a job without a car

Just take the millennialmobile :^)

it could more than quadruple and i'd be fine because i have a good job, savings, 0 debt, and live within means

In California about 3 years ago now the price was almost 5dollars a gallon and I was only driving when I had to because lolpoorhsstudent

>implying you would keep your job when gas prices quadruple
The worldwide economy would literally shit itself

>mfw 1.55

>per LITER

>$1.63
That's already well beyond what I'd ever want to pay

> ~1.1€/liter currently
>feelsbadman

i wouldn't need a car then
the problem solves itself

>tfw 2.599 where I live
GIVE ME MY 1/10 OF A PENNY BACK

who else /doesn't look at the price/ here?

>tfw $4/gallon is considered to be cheap in canada
At its not europe where the price in op pic would be per liter(1/4 of gallon)

>canada
>gallon
found the american

$10 USD/gallon

My job involves delivering so that would be interesting to see the changes

yo

I ride a motorcycle so it really wont matter much. I think people who go above and beyond for fuel mileage (waiting until night to buy, going out of their way to """Save""" money) are more autistic than speedrunners.

Me, but only because it hurts less to simply fill up and pretend the price doesn't matter.

>waiting until night to buy,
What.mkv

the conversion is pretty much multiply by 4

gasbuddy.com/GasPriceMap?z=4
How JUST are you?

I'm confused as to what that would be

...

yeah because its cooler at night so you get more gas and less vapor

there are actually people who do this

holy fucking hoon

>tfw buy all my gas in the winter to get the most gas
>wouldn't want to waste 10 cents on vapor

If it gets too bad, I'm getting a bike.
50 MPG and super fast acceleration? I'll take it.

... well, he looks happy - it must be a great ride

I don't drive mine daily.
So pretty fucking high.

Nigga do I look like I have a choice
Do you know what a job is

What kind of distances people usually drive in 'merica?

What car?

I get 55 mpg in my FZ07 and pay ~$10 to fill up. LOL

i live in canada and 200km+ round trip commutes aren't unheard of
i think the most i've done is 140km
now i'm at 22km and it's totally worth the $4.50/hr pay cut

If it gets over 1,40 €/L I convert my bike to deliver pizza.
(5,32 €/gallon)

Now: 1,309 €/L

My (weekly) commute is 140 km as well, at least my car is pretty efficient.

In Italy prices fluctuates from 2€ to 1.40€ per LITER since 2007, maybe before, tell me how bad it is.

I only buy at night but that's because it is cheaper than at peak times.

I paid 2.70 for the basic shit last week. It's probably up to 2.80 now. Fucking retarded.

oh, i was talking daily commute

I have a room there since that was my daily commute.

Most I've ever paid for gas was $4.04/gallon and that was in 2014. That was for premium gas.

In regular gas, I won't pay more than $6/gallon. That is implying gas actually gets that expensive, and I have to drive.

I just filled up an hour ago for $2.40/gallon

Since it'll be just weekend use in the 911, I'd pay $20 a gallon for premium.

$330 fill-up, I'd get about 250-275 miles driving it like a complete asshole.

the tanks are underground this makes no goddamn sense at all.

I think anything over $6 for regular would be it for me.

user can't math
2.60-2.599=1/100

Maybe you don't deserve that 1/10 penny

$0.001 is one thousandth of a dollar, or one tenth of a cent.

>1/100
That'd be a penny

2.600 - 2.599 is .001
.001 is 1/1000
1/1000 of a dollar
Which is 1/10 of a penny
What the actual fuck are you doing

>2.60-2.599=1/100

Get a LEAF

What, per gallon?

I spend about $10 a month on gas right now thanks to the Prius.

so, 10x and I'm still fine.

Depends how affordable electric cars are at that point

Current: $7.23/gal (Netherlands)
My max: $36 (ish)/gal

>$36 (ish)/gal
holy fuck wat
what happened

>drive my miata maybe twice a week
>walk or ride a bicycle every other day
gas prices don't mean shit

oh wow a double faggot

Prius C, I literally don't give a shit about gas prices. I just top it up with BP Ultimate.

>that pic
We have about that price per liter.

(3,8L -> 1US gal)

>tfw pennsylvania
>you can see the outline of ourstate stand out in the northeast

>Tfw stateside and europoors have it worse
Their tax per gallon is more than our total cost per gallon lmao.
>Tfw work in O&G
>Tfw high gas prices is good for me :^)

Payed 1.60 a liter in Quebec once... wanted to shoot myself. If it stayed at around 1.60 I would stop driving I think. Gas should be under a dollar a liter.

i currently pay 3.20 per gallon of 93 octane and it should be fucking 2.99

Pretty accurate for texas. In central tx we had a "gas scare" that was either started by idiots or the gas stations, jumped from like 2.10 a gallon to fuckin 2.60+ and half the town was lined up all day every day at every gas station. Lasted for about 4 or 5 days and is now slowly dieing down. Jokes on the idiots that paid that much, i filled up a day before at a military base for 2 a gallon

I use about 1.6 gallons @35mpg of premium per day to go to and from work. It adds up but I make plenty enough to not care

I got a $23,000 a year salary increase to a job where I had to drive every day, so when gas is costing me $23,000 a year, I'll stop

Why wouldn't your job pay those costs? If I have to drive more than my normal commute I'll get the federal milage rate added to my paycheck

When all 3 of my corporate gas cards get confiscated.

I have not paid for gas in like 2 decades...

Probably around $4
at which point a motorcycle will be the goto

I have a spark as an A car so it'll take a re-fucking-tarded increase in gas prices to make me get rid of it.

My Comanche, though, I dunno man. I think it has a 23 gallon tank, and the I6 gets 15mpg on its best day. I have no idea how well its running right now so it could be getting anywhere from 12 to 5mpg. I only drive it to work on Saturdays, so it'd take a pretty big increase in gas prices, but I dont think I'd get rid of it. Just drive it as little as I can get away with while still taking it out to get it up to operating temps fairly regularly.

when

6.00 shekels per liter(on the expensive gas stations)
1.7$ per liter
And our purchasing power is lower than west europe.

I reid a motorcycle that do 27-30 km per liter

Holy fucking shit Italy
I've never paid even 3 dollars for a gallon
I don't think anyone in the US has paid more than 5 ever

>Buying shitty winter gas that contains 1.7% less energy by volume

Seriously if your not somewhere that regularly gets below 0 Fahrenheit there's really no reason to specifically get winter gas since it's got butane blended into it to make it burn better when cold, better yet if you can get ethanol free gas since it keeps for far longer.

>user can't math
>proceeds not into math

>I've never paid even 3 dollars for a gallon
Are you underage? It was like 4.50 in 2008, in really populated places it was even higher.

If they weren't driving in '08 that doesn't mean they're underage, user. It's not 2012 anymore.

gas here was 2.09 before hurricanes. Now its 2.90. Filled up prior to ramp up in prices because old fag knows what happens.

>tfw 93 never goes over $2.75 where i live
feels pretty good

you're right, but this sort of collective forgetting of basic facts that happened really rustles my jimmies.

hits 7 bucks a gallon thats it....... game over.

Im 20
I was underage in 2008 (9 years ago)

>Forgetting basic facts
I said I had never paid over $3
Meaning me personally
I was not buying gasoline in 2008
I'm also aware of how much higher the prices were then which is why I said that second bit about gas being 5 dollars
No need to get jimmies rustled or otherwise be a spastic my dear user

>tfw you hate california so much, but everyone hates californians who leave because californians are mostly terrible

when I was little... horses on street with cars, gas 17cents a gal. was considered to high according to dad.

The pumps aren't

>crash of 2008
>gas went from $3.10 to $1.89 overnight

Weird times.

Did it really? I was 11 at the time, I don't remember that happening.

Economics dictate that if gas prices become too high, we may experience the Asian Bike effect where Bikes become cheaper to drive than Cars like in Taiwan where bridges and streets are packed with motorbikes.

This is only for people not willing to give up on driving by themselves.

In this case, probably a big push for things like Bullet Trains or people in America will have to start tolerating walking around just like in Japan where walking is the common form of transportation, ahead of trains or cars.

Seems like bad press involving gas stations mainly happen at night though like robbery.

Fun fact: Many people always think premium gas is better for their car when in many cases is not ideal for their car.

A poor fag car's engine will prefer the non premium gas rather than the premium gas. It's all about marketing.

Want to know the best gas for your car? The driver's instruction manual in your car will usually tell you what your car manufacturer recommends. Just follow it.

What will happen to all the home service businesses? Half of all the cars I see on the road are HVAC, lawn services, window cleaners, contractors, pooper scoopers, food delivery etc.
I guess some of them can get electric vehicles, but there aren't any hybrid 3/4 or 1 ton trucks or vans.

>HVAC
Cargo bike(maybe electricly assisted) or something like the german "StreetScooter" (pic related)(also available bith flat bed)
>lawn services
Electric lawn mower (cable or battery) and bike trailer
>window cleaners
Cargo bike like Bakrfiets
>contractors
Bike
>pooper scoopers
Bakfiets with plastic box in front or some 3 wheeled cargo bike with plastic box.
>food delivery
They actualy use bikes, pedelegs and scooters already.

That is what a old style cargo bike looks like:
There are more modern versions with electric assist available.

...

modern one

>put down your car
Like you'd put down a dog, or like "Hulk Smash"?

>Fiat
Probably not. The thing he's 30mpg on average driving and 34 of I baby it.

>Ford
I'll drive it less but I won't stop driving it.

You know, with all the fuss about fuel costs and non-renewable fuel and all that jazz, why haven't motorcycles become the de-facto mode of transportation even in countries with extremely expensive fuel? Even in Yurop people will drive a car that seats four alone, and they pay like 6-8 dollars per gallon.

>muh electric vehicles

guess where electricity comes from, genius

a far more thermally efficient source with a more efficient distribution network.

all gasoline ever had, was energy density. which is quickly becoming moot.

Not uncommon in Timbitsland.

That's why the Civic is the best selling car here.

Not from oil/gas.

Probably $10 a gallon.
And I'll still have a weekend car.
