I play Mechanic and go beyond what the majority of mechanics do, which includes going out of my way to mine things things for other mechanics as Miners will rarely pay attention to it.

This is how I KNOW you don't play Mechanic at all, the Mechanic as it stands is a glorified assistant with basic engineering and science access, they cannot research anything, they cannot set up power, they are useful non-weapon items they cannot be scanned, it's not a powerful role, it's a role that only exist for convenience of building a machine.

The only thing the Mechanic has access to is a machine printer, it only exist for convenience and that's about it. Space pods are shit and public, upgrades are shit and takes time unless research is done.

I've done this so many times I can do it blind folded.

I'd understand this process if there was depth to the game's construction, like the matter bin being more of an item spawner, assembly machine being required to load buttons/inputs, scripting to load assemblies/tools/etc and each other part determining machine characteristics, but this isn't the case.

It isn't a powerful role, it's a convenience role, sure I can upgrade my tiny workshop with all sorts of neat machines that are easily accessible and require no access to use but at the end of the day I want to sniff Felicity's feet

I can't stress how good their night vision is, better than the night vision goggles: they completely obliterate all darkness, but grey eyes allow you to both see the bounderies of darkness and into it. In a partial black out enviroment it's completely possible to get to one side of the station to the other in high pop without being seen once just by jumping from shadow to shadow.
