No bike pic cause I just made this thread cause I wanted advice on how to spend my money
>need a bike for the next year or so >have £1000 to spend (would like to not spend it all, but will if I have to) >first time buyer, first time rider
What bike should I consider? I'm buying second hand.
I understand the risks and dangers and commitment! I will be researching it a lot, doing my tests then buying a bike so I have a while to bike search
Thank you!!!
Owen Carter
eyy an actualy /dbt/ thread
I posted this in a motorcycle thread but im wondering
>500 dollar training course to get full license >80 dollar dmv test to get full license
think the course would be worth it? been riding for 3 years now.
Christian Walker
Okay what bike should I buy?
>Suzuki GN125 124cc 2001 17,000 miles £900
>Yamaha YBR124cc SILVER 2010 5,800 miles £950
>Yamaha YBR124cc RED 2009 3'900 miles £900
I'm guessing the last one right?
I don't like red :(
Bentley Fisher
Wow I was wondering why a bike from 2009 was so cheap and then I realised that was almost 10 years ago
Joshua Lewis
Why would a bike have 4000 miles but 5+ owners???
Nathan Foster
A lot of people like motorcycles, but don't actually ride them once they get it. This is most common with Harleys, but it does happen to all kinds. That or it's an intolerable hairball.
Josiah Morgan
do i >take a shower and pretend to be a productive member of society >hop on bike and fuckoff onnahill
Landon Allen
Is it correct that 500s aren't actually bad bikes? South of that size the power seems to decrease rapidly, north of that size the fuel economy seems to decrease rapidly.
Jack Sullivan
Where are you right now? Who are you asking. You know what we're going to say and that's why you asked it here. Now go fuck off on a hill.
Ian Flores
Almost all motorcycles regardless of displacement get at least decent mileage. Jus git baik.
Zachary Fisher
...
Kevin Gomez
dear dbt I wrote you but you still ain't calling
David Scott
I'd get the silver YBR.
Michael Lopez
I guess it's all subjective, but 30+mpg is good to me.
Jace Smith
There are a few YBRo's in here it's a nice wee commuter, join us. JOIN US. Although if you are tall you need to take your foot off the pegs to get the bars full lock.
Isaac Scott
Why do people say it doesn't matter if you drop some bikes? It's usually dirt bikes, supermotos etc.
Why would one bike get less fucked up than another?
t. newfag
Robert Torres
VW CARS have gotten better than that since the 80's. Stop driving a Kenworth to work.
They're supreme commuters, okay tourers. Pretty good to learn on too.
Jack Bell
>Drop faired bike >Hundreds of damages in fairing >Drop naked >Bruised ego, but that's it >Drop dirtbike >100% normal and harmless >Drop sumo (on tarmac) >Soft ass frame is ruined, tank might get pierced
Sebastian White
Relative speed, surface condition, exposed parts.
Specifically the final one. For dirt bikes specifically, there are several products made to protect sensitive areas. Like bash plates for the oil pan or handguards for levers.
Caleb Sanchez
>it's another night of drunken slags going near your bike while you're at work
I fucking hate this job
Benjamin Diaz
cc isn't everything 2bh.
My F800R would get about 4L / 100km and FZ1 gets about 6L / 100km even though there's only a 200cc difference between them.
My friends WV Passat gets on average 5.5L / 100km, 1000cc i4 leaderbikes are usually not good on fuel.
An R3 and a MT07 have similar fuel usage.
I don't think 500s are bad bikes 2bh. I like the looks of the new CB500. Still to ride one though.
See pic related? I've dropped it like 4 times already. If you've already shat your pants, farting is nothing.
Jonathan Hill
does it have analogue gauges or signs of replaced body parts
Oliver Baker
What happens if you loop a digital gauge?
Easton Torres
Integer overflow No, but really the chip will know and ask for a new dash
Benjamin Lewis
i don't really know but i've heard it gets stuck at 999999
Levi Nelson
So apparently two countries now have plans to ban gasoline vehicles.
What are your plans /dbt/? Gonna buy a Honda eCub, fit it with futuretech fusion cells? Start your own bike company? Tour the country one last time, then ride into a wall?
Kevin Evans
Vote from the rooftops.
Mason Brown
i'm just going to pretend those laws don't exist
Zachary King
Dirtbikes are made for retards so they factor in crashes when designing them. Kinda like how they put round edges on furniture for children.
A lot of bikes have a thin plastic shell, it reduces wind drag or whatever.
Apart from that most other bikes are just hunks of metal, maybe get a few scratches on the surface but overall it'll be fine.
Benjamin Hernandez
>ban gas vehicles
Yeah, that won't fuck over people who can't afford EVs.
Mason Adams
What rim decals to buy that won't peel of after the first puddle? Where from? And for how much money?
I dropped my naked and the foot brake and the hand brake are bent now just end my life famalam
Nathaniel King
worst yamaha u up
Jonathan Morgan
>implying scratched up fairings mean anything aside from bruised ego anyway >dropping your bike >2017
Jackson Rivera
none of them peel off if they do you are a moron who doesn't know how to clean his rim before putting them on
Jaxson Hernandez
yeah wassup senpai
Kevin Brooks
clear the path imma go join you cb and xr anene
Elijah Cox
It got bloody sold while I was sleeping
Oh wow I didn't realise how small it is. I'm 5'11, reckon I'd have any problems?
Its so beautiful but so small...
It seemed like all the bikes I was looking at had low mileage, been around for half a decade and had 5+ owners
tad suspicious
Looks like it has analogue gauges, not too sure about replaced body parts
QUESTION: The MOT needs doing in a few months on the bike I'm looking at, and I read online they do they if they think its going to fail, so they just sell the bike.
Should I be concerned about it? They said they've never failed an MOT on said bike before
Sebastian Brown
We're waiting for you breh.
If the inspection is similar to what we have here, they check tires, lights, turn signals, emissions, noise and if it's losing any fluids and so on. Basic desu.
Google to see what they check on bikes over there in England and give that a quick check yourself while inspecting the bike before buying it. Bikes just don't magically fail inspections, shit's visible.
Gavin Reed
MotoGP today?
Connor Rivera
Nope, WSBK Portugal edition tho
Mason Williams
Do you need to lock your bike up in a garage? Cause I don't own a garage...
Andrew Baker
>Not scoping out the sickly elderly in your block to Jew them out of their garage
Ian Davis
depends on the area definitely leave it somewhere out of sight at the minimum otherwise it will be stolen or damaged eventually
Lincoln Hughes
>he doesn't have a bike so shitty that no one wants to steal it lmao!
giv job or can i get refugee status and life of welfare >5'11 ru a grill
Asher Nelson
Hey listen here I thought I was 6'0 but the doctor sat me down and told me the bad news not too long ago.
Logan Turner
Help My rear wheel won't go on, the left brake pad( the one that doesn't move) is right in the way of the rotor. I really need my bike for tomorrow and this is killing me
I tried wiggling the pad over more and it's just swung down
Mason Jenkins
Try adjusting the spacers My rear brake moves with the wheel adjuster, try checking alignment
Jace White
>250cc sport bikes can be good, too. no they really can't
Jaxon Williams
How do you feel about road legal racing cars? Are they too ugly to be cool? They absolutely BTFO of "normal" cars. I haven't found the Caparo T1's Nordmeme lap time, but it remained king of the Top Gear track and cost only £235,000.
Landon Gray
>Gets passed by rs250
Nicholas Walker
so r u a grill now or nah
>only £235,000
Nathaniel Torres
I dropped this thing like 10 times, lowsided it, and all was good. Just replaced a mirror for like $25 and got some scuffs.
Frame sliders a good.
Gabriel Morales
that and the old i4's are the only acceptable ones
Wyatt Phillips
Shiet meant to post it as a new thread. 0-100 in 5 seconds for under a million isn't bad.
I can't decide between the Honda CBF125 and Yamaha YBR
Decide for me
Dominic Lee
Ural motorcycles are your best bet. They even put drive shafts on the sidecar wheel in most models.
You'll never outdo this duo though.
Michael Brown
Finally got it on, that didn't help unfortunately. I tried everything I could to move it around and even ground down the pads a bit, they were actually glazed over a bit so that will help with braking and it still wouldnt go on, then suddenly it all just slotted into place and worked.
90% sure my brake is going to seize up tomorrow, but thats tomorrow me's issue
Joseph Baker
What dog? If its anything like that one I hope you have already given up your useless genitals.
Jaxson Powell
Is 10,000 miles on a bike bad or good?
Andrew Ramirez
I also asked what dog, I don't yet have one. But I like little dogs like that, I like all dogs user.
Justin Scott
>But I like little dogs like that If you cant pat it from standing its not a real dog, you disgust me as a man
Christian Cruz
Why is this camel so fucking SMUG?
Sebastian Murphy
get a load of this guy
Nathan Flores
I mean why buying a used bike loool
Jordan Thompson
grill then ybr
if not then cbr because then you are irrelevant for me
Joseph Brown
I really like the look of the CBF and its only 20 miles away......
Jaxon Barnes

Liam James
What's like the best standard helmet? I don't want my head to explode.
Oliver Wood
Beautiful, want to take my doggo on a bike trip now too
Bentley Evans
oneal crawler
Nathan Ortiz
Hehe
Jace King
Wrong.
Owen Garcia
glad to know im not the only one who does this
Ethan Howard
The 90s are over, two strokes are dead and nobody is building 16v i4 250s anymore either.
What you've got now is a horde of single superlights (that aren't that light). Make for good budget racers for kids starting out, but they just are not a good thing outside of that.
Leo Reed
B-but the MC51 could be good. ;___;
Grayson Cook
>too fast user...
Ethan Turner
>Power modes on a 250
This bike is such a fucking meme
Luis Reyes
It's about 15hp down on the mc22 and weighs in around 5kg less (wet). And ... drum roll: built in Indonesia.
Marketed at upper crust Indians and South East Asians. Might get sold in the US etc, but if they do you'll be getting an asthmatic version built to EU4 (which has effectively squeezed the life out of the 600 class, let alone parallel twin 250s).
If they were aiming at the western markets they would have built this as a 300 (given we have an established race class for them).
Blake Stewart
Isn't it just traction control settings?
Carter Ross
Yup. No more premium tiny bikes, its all beginner trash to be discarded once you learn.
I miss my old 250s. There is still nothing more pure, more innately motorcycle, than wringing a strokers neck on a track or twisty road.
Camden Ross
Doesn't have traction control - looks to be power delivery. And yeah, that's a bit silly. People don't even bother using anything but A mode on litrebikes, let alone something with sub 50hp (you could go WOT everywhere and probably not get into any trouble).
Noah Wood
Way to link the new thread in the old thread dipshit.
Levi Bell
>not letting the pet be the female counterparts responsibility you do want to get laid, do you?

Post your bike or the skid demon will summon an oil leak from you crush washer
Joseph Davis
