Try playing a traditional(?) commander/officer swordcraft deck some time. You'll brick CONSTANTLY. It's why bannersword was a popular deck early on, since it was consistent.

Aggro and midshadow was stronger than ramp dragon.It was far more consistent than dragon who'd brick.
LB at best delayed shadow. Aggro on 1-2-3-4 curved raped dragon easy as fuck in turn 4 or 5. Not ramping fast enough for 10pp made blast a brick card against vomit.
Saha Zell was inconsistent. Sure it was 6 to 13 damage, but you need 3 cards to pull that shit off and ramp to at least 9 pp.
Amulet based decks sans banish everything haven is still getting raped harder by shadow.
