Alright, thread's over. This right here is the correct answer. The Trabi, god's gift to man.

For today's standards.

Hi.

Non-VR6 models, anyway.

What's it like owning a Ural? Did people call you a fuckin commie yet?

Fuck that ugly piece of shit

Can confirm

6th gen Toyota Celica

Entire clutch swap done with a few sockets, a ratchet and a breaker bar.

...

The new GT-R

That's simple
XJ Jeep Cherokee
TJ Jeep Wrangler
Honorable Mention:
ZJ Jeep Grand Cherokee

Main thing about my DSM i miss.

My LS is a simple easy motor in itself, but the fbody engine bays ruin all chances of simplicity when it comes to working on them.

E30 too. Between R3vlimited, E30tech, and Bimmerpost E30 has by far the best knowledgebase

Yeah boi

Everything I've done to it has been pretty easy.

My eclipse is decently easy to work on. Unless you're trying to take off the headlights for the first time

>3 bolts
>One on top, two behind the bumper
>Have to pull the bumper off
>One of the bolts to pull the bumper off is under the headlight
>But you can't remove the headlight until you remove the bumper
>And you can't remove the bumper unless the headlights are off
>It's a paradox

I honestly don't know how they put that part together in the factory

Yup, and the 140's as well. Pretty much the whole car can be fixed with spanners and screwdrivers.

>have to change timing belt
>have to remove oil pan to get to belt
GG

who told you that?

...

Even the newer Honda are really easy to wrench, aside from all the plastic. You ask "Is that the O2 sensor right in from of the motor?" Well it is.

What a mess

honda's are good and need nearly no tools but miatas you can fix with swear words.

and bmw makes complicated engines

Stop spouting bullshit

Its actually not so bad in person

...

Jesus does it get more simple? Thats practically a lawn mower engine

youtube.com/watch?v=kZxhTjaCmso
fuck yeah!!!!

>can change oil without getting under car
so much room for activities...

also yes

...

apex seals gotta replace every 70k miles

i'd say e34.

premix nigger

bmw over engineers their engines you have to worry about everything
(im not saying they are bad tho love the e30 m3)

There is nothing over engineered in 70's, 80's, 90's bmw's
they are simple as fuck and extremely durable, they just work

ok but is it easy compared to a miata or honda?

one exception would be the early bmw v12 engines with 2 ecu's and 2 batteries.
the rest is easy and fun to work on, plenty of space in the engine bays etc.

Except that one bolt.

an M42 or M43 4cyl engine is just as simple as a miata engine, yes
also you get a bigger engine bay as a plus because bmw engine bays are suited for i6 and v8 engines

u can put an ls or 2j in a miata. how is it a small engine bay?

you can also put a v10 or v12 in a e30
it's more cramped

why would you do that tho
the 2j makes the same hp and the ls sounds almost as nice

ok then every 100k miles

idk it just sounds sick as fuck
youtube.com/watch?v=mPDyMKWEvik&app=desktop

yeah but its super expensive more than double the price of the actual car
and the right exhaust makes anything sound better

hey i came here to rep the 6th gen celica too. I can stand in the engine bay and wear my car like a pair of pants. Pic semi related

you don't need to work on a celica. they just work

Fun fact, according to carMD Hyundai owners had the lowest average check engine light related repair cost at $318.50.

the price difference between a LS and a bmw v10 in europe is minimal

i don't doubt that. People buy hyundais because they are poverty appliances (generally). I know they have some sportier shit out now but whatever

You can even start them like one too lol

If you haven't seen the 5 second belt change for these engines, it's hilarious:

youtube.com/watch?v=BQhfcdQf1QA

10mm is best millimeter

M10, M42, M20, M30, and M50 are all simple and bulletproof

I want one now

It's not about performance, sound, or value
>It's about having a massive throbbing erection every time you remember your E30 has a fucking 8300rpm V10 in it

I was actually surprised with my XJ. the engine bay LOOKS cramped as fuck, but actually working in it is easy as hell.

That being said, my vote goes for any older Chevy pickup truck (70s to early 90s). Can literally sit in the engine bay and work on it.

Saturn 1.9L shitboxes. These mofos are stupid easy to get back up and running. The later 5 speed cars are indestructable but the automatics will shit the bed like clockwork. Just put a junkyard valve body on those and keep going.

Since this became engine swap general check out the first swap here

How is an I6 with single vanos complicated?
It's essentially the same thing as an M50/52
