It's a fucking toyota corolla.

refer to this post

stop watching Initial D and Stick to playing Forza Horizon if you want to hoon.

You can't afford to import an actual Trueno.

>paying 20k for a 30 year old Corolla

Use that money to treat your autism

No, because they're genuinely bad cars that are only popular because of an autistic anime.

It's a 30 year old corolla for fucks sake.

Have some common sense and buy an E36, cheaper, more reliable, more fun.

>cheaper
>reliable
>BMW

Furthermore, wasn't the point of Initial D that Tagoomee was such a skilled driver that he BTFO the best racers with an objectively bad car?

OP is not Takumi

E36s have bottomed out in prices recently. Parts are also cheaper than dirt and the cars are incredibly easy to wrench on. The BMW reliability meme didn't start until the E46 with it's diabolically bad electrics, the E36 is a rock solid car through and through.

I sold my AE86 about a month ago for a 2ZZ swapped ZZW30 and despite how awesome my MR2 is, I miss my 86 everyday.

My MR2 is FAST, nimble, sterile but the 86 had its quirks, sure it was slow and rusty but I could outcorner anyone with it, I could confidently throw it around corners and induce oversteer, It was fun to make the engine scream on the seaside B roads and it was piss easy to work on, I might get another one if I curb my spending on the mister deuce.

Get it OP but get a cheaper shitbox with it and use the 86 as a weekend car.

>weekend car
no more no less

If you want a brief understanding of how hard it is to actually get an AE86 into...
wait wait wait, Australia?
that can't be right.
>Was gonna say RCR but this changes a lot, for starters, doesn't Australia make you chop up the front end and ship the car in two pieces?Does anybody else know? Cause if that's right, wouldn't it be easier to buy an Australian Corolla and swap the engine and trim?

Yes, infact the whole first season was practically
>"Nani" the shitbox corolla is beating my tuned RX7
>"Nani" the shitbox corolla is beating my tuned GTR
>"Nani" the shitbox corolla is beating my tuned *Insert here*
>"How could I lose I had the better car and everything"
OP is not Takumi

...

>doesn't Australia make you chop up the front end and ship the car in two pieces
I don't know much about their import laws but I do know that it's a JDM car heaven and OP is in pretty much the best place to be if he wants an imported Japanese car.

there's already plenty of 86s in australia
why the fuck are you looking for one as a first car though? terrible choice
i think they're fun to drive, i'll give them that, but they're a bad track car (the case for touge stuff is a bit different, more on that below, but honestly you're never going to be doing that anyway) and as a daily driver i cant imagine using one, ever

i mean, his opponents weren't in much better cars if you count out the fd, the skylines, the evos, etc...
>180sx
>na miata
>nb miata
>a fucking civic
>cappuccino
>toyota mr-snapoversteeru

the 86 was still a very popular touge car before initial d even existed, the thing about touge racing is that it's too technical and slow for a powerful car to really be necessary. if you look at dagumi's speedometer he's rarely ever going past 90km/h

his drifting is mostly due to the corolla's lack of any competent rear suspension, and he doesn't have many other options for cornering considering the car's turning radius isn't that good and it loses grip with ease

But I am

Fuck. You sold yours too? I regret that decision every day, and it gets worse over time. My wife thinks my recent switch to a career path with better prospects is for "family." It's not. It's so I can comfortably sink tens of thousands of dollars into an AE86 every year and daily drive it until I'm dead.

These Corolla shits are an endlessly relapsing drug addiction for all the owners I've known. They sell, try a new car, and inevitably go looking for another AE86 while the virus is passed down the line to a new owner.

Take the hint bimmerfags. No one likes your kind here. Go back to the frat.

This. If you could do it, you'd of just fucking done it already.

>"JDM Car Heaven"
its not, thats New Zealand.
In Australia the car laws are fucked to the point that if youre caught doing 30km/hr over the speed limit they instantly take away your licence and can impound or even crush (in some states) your vehicle if you are caught doing over 40kms/hr. fuck they will even impound your car if you accelerate to fast.

on top of that vehicle restrictions for p platers are pretty heavy

No wonder Aussies shitpost all the time, it's one of the most no fun countries around isn't it?

yea if you get caught

Fair enough.

I assume you do all the fun shit well outside of town?

where i live there is only 1 fun road to drive and its quite popular so you just have to try and say in your lane and go as fast as you can, if you go late at night you have to try and avoid the fucking wombats. if youre not driving fun roads most people do skids out in a industrial area or at the entrence to a uni

>AE86 as a first car
Kill yourself

he probably will if he gets one

It would be great if he could do it without destroying the car too.

Didn't know mako sato was a shemale.

>dem shoulders and arms

i think she looks cute that way desu
>tfw you will never have a trap mako gf teaching you how to drift

If you want the car then get it. Why do you need validation from the austistic fags on this forum first? Most ppl on here dont know shit about cars and probably never driven one.

Thats a terrible deal for the guy who got your 86

He got a pretty good deal, I threw in all my spare parts as well. I didn't trade it, I used the proceeds to get my 86.

Funny enough, the guy I sold it to was exactly how you described, sold his previous one because he had a baby and then wanted another one badly after that. I'm glad he got mine, I could tell he was passionate about them and not done factor that would slam it or wrap it around a tree.

Get my mr2*

What's the bad about an 86 as a first car? The lack of power steering and ABS? Those both take an hour max to get used to. Otherwise it's a slow car that you aren't likely to crash

get a levin

Get out Wataru

The fact that if you get an AE86, you're overpaying for an ancient toyota corolla.

The fact that you'll think you're the next Takumi and understeer into a fuckin roo on the closest thing oz has to a togue

The fact that you'll be tempted to put those nihongo stickers that say "fujiwara tofu shop" on the side of your car, ruining it forever

the fact that you could instead get a 3k civic and have a better car AND model yourself after a better initial D character.

>importing a Toyota AE86 Trueno from Japan to Australia

You're being duped! That's the Oakland Bay Bridge in the background of that photo, it was taken in San Francisco, California USA

>hurr durr muh dorifty
Just get a fucking R32

Helo hihg speed tofu man

This is subjective as fuck. None of these are any real reason to not get it as a first are. Price I can kind of see but that depends on each persons budget

>E36
>reliable
>more fun

>following the anti-BMW circlejerk

oh look, someone who doesn't know anything about MR2s

>implying a frat boy would be caught dead in a BMW more than 5 years old

If you have to even pose the question: No, fuck off.

It's not a good first car, it's incredibly expensive, spare parts beyond engine parts are all discontinued (not even specialty garages in Japan have basic trim parts). If it breaks down as your DD, you're fucked.

It's a very specific car for a very specific flavour. If you'd go out and buy a Ford Escort Mk1, Opel Manta, Alfa Romeo GTV, Lotus Elise, BMW 2002, BMW E30 and Mazda MX5 (all of them need to interest you, not just the miata), then it's your car. Only then.
Also, have a pile of spare cash for the car itself and for parts.

Sad to hear. Glad to hear it's in good hands.

That's a pretty good description.

I love mine to bits and will never let it go, it's so much fun to drive.

here OP, have fun

Mfw my frat-lads drove Camaros, Mustangs, Lifted Tahoe's and Bagged S'10s and shit.

where did you get this image

Clarkson?

>as a first car
Jesus fucking Christ kid, do some research first. it's objectively one of the worst cars ever made for anything other than nip roads, that combined with the fact that you won't find parts for it, it's going to cost literally x20 than its actual worth, and the fact that it has 112 HP means that no, you should not buy it. If you buy what car you think is the coolest, you're going to severely regret it. Any car before 2000 WILL be a shit purchase as your first car.

>Any car before 2000 WILL be a shit purchase as your first car.

Did you get burned by memes too?

That's right, drink your sorrows away with your unreliable piece of Jap shit

>jap
>unreliable
wha

>le old cars are bad first cars meme
I thought this board was meant to be for enthusiasts. Not normie faggots.

> combined with the fact that you won't find parts for it
You realize there are a load of aftermarket companies that reproduce literally every single fucking part on the car... right?

no i can't believe someone actually just said that

My old as ford from 1990 is more reliable than my fucking 2013.

Sinc3 I've owned it the cel has come on 3 times and this 3rd time is an intermittent code for thermostat heater control circuit open. Which is literally a heating coil that makes the physical coolant thermostat open early for emissions. Fucking modern bullshit

Fuckin wombles man, it's like they want to get hit. Still not as bad as roos though. People from the US and Canada complain about deer plenty and that's warrented, but having hit both a roo and a deer I can say roos are objectively worse.

Big heavy muscled retards just sitting by the side of the road waiting to jump in front of you.

That's because it's an American car

So is the ferd tho

my point is that it's an American car built pre-2000, therefore it is reliable. Nip cars will not fare so well in modern times

>no futa mako fan art
the state of the D porn is initial depressing

I like it enough tonpay that much for it.

Underaged or trying to type the most retarded shit possible?

People don't do skids at uni.

I agree that most people don't know shit.

Just look at this guy.

fuckin roo on the closest thing oz has to a togue

Confirmed for knowing nothing about Australia.

I have heaps of mountain roads where I live.

>If a corolla breaks down you're fucked

LMAO

A corolla is one of the worst cars ever made.

Lmao

>normie
Fuck off

You fuck off.

Same. But kangaroos (especially during sundown) isnt a meme

lol get fucked he is the only one making sense ITT. autistic 4cyl idiots are the worst

It makes no sense at all...

If you think that makes sense you should read some books and stop playing forza or whatever it is kids do these days.

Initial D

Think about the retarded shit he said "cars only slightly better than an ae86"

First off that ignores vehicle class but also...

How dumb do you have to be to think a car like a turbo 180sx is only slightly faster than an old 1.6 liter corolla from 1984?

Have you ever been in an s1e with an sr20? Even with the standard turbo and just the boost would up you can dry the tyres so easily

>stop playing forza or whatever it is kids do these days.

>tfw in my days it was Gran Turismo and Forza was the mocked GT wannabe
I'll get you one day, time, you won't get away that easily.

Meant s13 with a standard turbo.

>straya
Get a fucking Commodore or something.

I could point out so much other stuff wrong with what he said too.

As far as the engine goes, you'll be fine, the 4AGE was available until the 90s in many cars, but the stuff that's AE86 specific and isn't a tuning part is basically unobtainium. Try finding window clips for the quarter side windows. You'll be driving with a cardboard piece for half a year until clips pop up on ebay that don't cost an arm and a leg.

its kind of an inherently unstable car
and with little power for power over type drifting
so yes even with a twisty track it would need allot of skill to be a useful car
>recommended reading
book of the five rings
art of war
the show has elements of both
.eg a cowardly protagonist using under handed hacks to win

Stability is a question of setup. Mine is set up very neutral, cruising the autobahn at 200km/h felt safer than most cars I've ever driven that fast. Only the CLS 550 was more stable.

>not going for the best of both worlds with 80s shitbox AND midship fun

>Any car before 2000 WILL be a shit purchase as your first car.
Nigga I've been driving a 1997 Passat TDI for 5 years now and it also was my first car.
The only things that broke during that time were a leaking diesel pump and one of the upper wishbones.
The pump was fixed for $200 by a mechanic.
You also get kits containing all right and left front suspension arms for under $120.

where are those fenders from?

final episode was:
>"Nani" the tuned shitbox corolla is beating my tuned shitbox corolla

get the Hachi-Roku, OP, get it and never let go

Probably universal flares and little modification

>Is it worth it purchasing a vehicle whose price is artificially inflated by several factors?
No. Never.

>a fucking civic

That shitbox had a spoon engine worth more than the average shitbox Veeky Forums owns.

>circlejerk
