>Wouldn't you have to turn on a vpn every time you start steam though? Nope. You need VPN only one time when you start steam to change wallet region to RUB. then you turn off steam, turn off VPN, and you're free. Catch is, you need to buy in keys and sell them in market

Has anyone thought about using a steering wheel for rudder pedals? A lot of people seem to use the pedals that came with their racing wheels, but the racing wheel itself seems like a better idea. You could attach a big stick to the wheel and it would make for a fairly realistic rudder, plus you'd benefit from force feedback. Professionally drawn schematic related.
I'm basically trying to come up with a thorough but versatile poorfag setup. My ideas so far:
- Delanclip for headtracking - Use old Saitek AV8R joystick for collective + twist grip throttle (remove the centering spring, add some plastic tabs or something for friction) - Buy used Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 to use as main joystick - Buy used Logitech G27 racing wheel to use as a rudder (a used racing wheel is a lot cheaper than dedicated flight sim pedals, plus I could use it for racing games as well)
piqued my curiosity aswell it looks like an MH-65 Dolphin/AS565AA Panther that's been outfitted for military use, pretty neat photo. Had no idea they were used outside of maritime operations.

Good to see the modding community already underway and the devs seem to be on-board aswell.
Just need all the bugs squashed in upcoming patches.

Seriously, it's irritating.

>cold waters >after five hours of restarts I get a mission to take out an echo missile sub in '68 campaign >manage to get the drop on it and its attack sub escort >destroy both with first salvo >think for a minute that I'm finally getting the hang of this >three torpedoes slam into my side a moment later, no doubt from a 2nd escort I missed.
I don't think I can handle this game, I mean the only other subsims I've played was the SH series, I can't handle 3d warfare.
Brody Campbell
What is wrong with the crew models, /simg/? They started being like this after I tried switching spoken language from english to german. Restarting the game didn't fix this. I'm running silent hunter 3 with gray wolves expansion btw.

Cold Waters is pretty nice, but I cant dodge torpedoes for shit, what are the tricks?
Also, I wish that instead of controlling the rudder, planes, and ballast yourself, you could just give the chief a depth, speed, and course in numerical form, like in Dangerous Waters and Silent Hunter. Seems way more convenient, and also more realistic considering you, currently, as a captain, need to have your eyes locked in the three or four navigational stats at the same time if you are doing complex stuff and can easily fuck up by yourself.
Also, whats the thing with the event camera? What is it? I guessed it is like the Silent Hunter event camera, but it never appeared. How does it works? Game looks the same with it on or off, where does the event camera trigger?
Jeremiah Moore
Best way to dodge torpedos is to get away before they lock you up. Eg. fire a few harpoons at sub 200 feet, enemy ships will counter by sending ss-n-14 your way, you dive to test depth and stay quiet while the torpedos search for you at shallow depth.
Devs are adding depth and course orders.
Shift E turns on even camera with icon at top-right corner.
David Moore
>fire a few harpoons at sub 200 feet Damn, i always thought air-surface were to be fired at mast depth, i never tried firing them at more than 50ft.
>Devs are adding depth and course orders. Thats good
>Shift E turns on even camera Yeah, but i always leave it on, but the problem is that i dont know what it does. I suppose it is to show your weapons hitting enemy forces but it never appears, so I imagine it does something else. What does it do, exactly?
Yeah, I didnt used the right words, I actually dodged some torpedoes a lot, with knuckles and noisemakers, the real problem was making them go away and stop coming back to me everytime
Jackson Jackson
if its one torpedo, you can just dodge until it gets bored and explodes. if its more than 2 then just kiss your ass goodbye
Nolan Smith
Fire MOSS when the torps miss you then change your depth hard.
David Bell
I see
Yeah, it was two, i was doing pretty okay til I accidentally pressed the emergency blow hotkey. I wish there were more interface and menus to minimize the need for hotkeys. Dangerous Waters was pretty great on that for me, you could do so much without relying on the keyboard.
Blake Wilson
event camera will show what the enemy deploys against you generally
Christian Campbell
Oh i see
Samuel Nguyen
what about in '68 with no moss?
Charles Morgan
68 is an afterthought where Russian subs use post 68 torpedos. Still, SET-65 only has a sensor range of 880 yards so go fast and change depth hard after it gets distracted by a noisemaker or change depth before it reaches you in the first place.

Is Cold Waters worth it, /simg/? I like SH and didn't mind Atlantic Fleet too much, but $40 seems like a bit of a stretch for how much content there seems to be ATM.
Evan Sanchez
I want russian and british subs and metric system.
Gavin Baker
Lotta depth in the game though and with modding already in the works with help from the devs this game is gonna have a nice lengthy service-life it seems.
Playing Cold Waters immediatelly made me want to reinstall Silent Hunter 3, but since I already played the shit out it with GWX mod, I'm looking to know about the other SH games.
SH4 or SH5? Whats the better one? I have no special preference to any particular theather of operations.
