Thank you based chicken OP

When I'm not strapped for cash I'm giving you 8 bucks Monolith guys.

store.steampowered.com/app/603960/Monolith/

Inspiration to us all. Will shill to friends.

Don't get the chicken meme
t. new & only here cause of Monolith keys

arise chikkun

>tfw get to play Monolith after a hard day of devving
This is the comfiest feel

Congrats to TeamD-13 for releasing Monolith!

Alex and Pure are artisans of the bullet. I need to give their game a try.

editing art is fucking BORING

Monolith release party. Vicariously experienced success is still success.

>Items disappear after leaving the room

Really monolithdev

I like this mechanic in Enter The Gungeon. Forces you to pick up your ammo and such instead of stockpiling.

Try not to leave stuff behind, all items can always be taken for some benefit.

I meant more for upgrades.

I had choice between a weapon or key, I didn't want to pick up key if there was no vault on the floor so I left them and searched the floor.

Feels badman

Is this Monolith general? No? Fuck off.

Too hard to check the "persistent object" checkbox LUL

Well you still haven't posted a game so how about you fuck off.

imagine for a second that people will talk about your game like this when it gets released
done? now get back to deving

t. a nodev

maybe the item was never trully there to beggin with

Do you have some progress you'd like to share with the class?

This guy comes in and slaps your runs ass.

What do you do?

It is tonight, they spent 5 years on it and deserve some praise for their juicy as fuck game. If you don't like it post some of your progress (which I'm guessing you don't have) or go be salty somewhere else.

>all those people who got monolith keys
Really shows that you're all nodevs. I'm too busy working on my game to get a key in time.

>He hasn't bought the game

A nodev and poor?

Is the Godot Engine any good?

I started with Unity and Unreal about a month ago and have made a few mini things so far.

>too busy working on game
that's the opposite of a nodev

Easiest (You)s of my life.

But seriously, if you want to talk about Monolith you should make a /v/ thread. Monolith is finished, so discussion of it doesn't belong here. Also it will get more exposure that way.

I'm enjoying the poverty version until I can get some cash.

yeah, it's my favorite for 2D

>tfw all the games tat made it are games I never liked
I mean don't get me wrong, I know that Monolith is very well made and fun for those who like the genres, but it's just not my thing. Same thing for World of Horror.
Sorry.

Unity and Unreal do 2d as well.

Why bother with godot?

Yeah, if you're making a 2D game Godot is very good. For 3D I'd recommend UE4. Godot 3.0 has a new 3D renderer and other improvements, but we'll have to wait and see how good it ends up being.

Using unreal for pure 2D (sprites) is wasting its potential.

remember to regularly back up your projects

>waiting for godot

I added a jitter effect when bridges are overlapping walls and for rewinding too.

It's very lightweight and I personally love its workflow.

The other day I watched the whole Waiting for Godot play. 2 hours long.
That shit was weird, but it actually perfectly described how I feel waiting for Godot 3 release.

Alright you've convinced me.

Any recommendations for starting idea games?

(has to be fun)

pachinko machine rpg

pong

Dark Souls but 2d

Pong mixed with Shoot em up

>(has to be fun)
giving up

zombie survival with crafting

The high res distortion combined with the low-res pixels still looks wrong to me. You're aware that even on a low-res monitor the edges of straight lines would look perfect and not aliased, right?

Cooking RPG. AIM TO BE THE GREATEST CHEF

I mean vertical and horizontal lines.

yo
monolithdev
add your game to the giant bomb DB so it has a nice thumbnail on twitch

That's actually not intended, the pixels are actually small but there's no anti aliasing which makes the lines pretty sharp, I will add some AA later which should fix it.

vim!
is a shit because autocomplete is a bitch to get working

I see what you mean; it's not actually low-res but just gives the impression. I'm used to seeing everything drawn with AA by now. I think that will make a big difference.

I actually don't use autocomplete, just ctrl-n
not that I don't want it, it's just I prefer vim keybinds and I don't want to lose my sanity getting them in an IDE or getting IDE stuff into vim

Thanks chicken master OP
Hey! no spoilers
Come on baby, hes been working on this forever. Hes one of our golden boys.
Not sure havent played yet

Go Monolith Go!

Its $8. Do you live in a ditch? Are you str8 up homeless? Jeezus croiky

I genuinely think monolith is a good game that's going to get slept on by non-aggies. sux man

>Its $8
I make (and live on) $125 a month.

So yeah, check your developed nation privilege.

^n just gives typed words in the current buffer though. I need my contextual completion because I am too lazy to look up API.

I think it's a good game that I don't really want to play even if I can get it for pocket change
it's slick and cohesive and shows real effort but I don't care for roguelikes or shoot-em-ups; when you combine the two of them it's just a sea of meh

I forget if I configured it to do this but it pulls from every open buffer for me

so I just open every relevant file and get hacking

ummmmmmmmmm
where to find collaborators?

metroidvana..but with a TWIST

>I make $125 a month
That's like, 2 weeks worth of food here. Damn. A single TF2 hat would get you more than that in monthly royalties.

Jeez, where do you live?

>he's completely acclimated to vim
>to the point he can't use anything else

I doubt my gibus is worth anything, though.

In a fucking shithole, of course.

What do you eat, a whole beef every month ?
I spend about $30 for two weeks.

>D deletes from cursor to end of line
>hjkl move cursor
>o opens new line
>cw changes word

These alone make vim worth using.

...

India?
How the fuck? I live in Vancouver BC. I spend $30 a day on food.

>India
No, that's the country with no shit holes, user. Learn your /int/ memes

>I doubt my gibus is worth anything, though.
I'm tired, I meant making a hat.

Chicken breast is like, $13 / kg at my local grocery store (Montreal). It's fuckin' crazy.

Try living on the equivalent to 10 dollar per week plebeians
oh god kill me already

would a rape game basically be an MMA ground game? need mechanics

Sometimes you can hack ATMs and get money, sometimes you just take the thing offline.

...

MGS

did the onion suddenly get good at textures?

gud

>needing keys
>not devving your own monolith

more visual feedback please, if you didn't write anything with the post, I'd have never noticed the extra money

>looks like a standard dating sim
>all the promotional material suggests that's all it is
>several hours of dating sim gameplay until you finally have sex
>didn't receive formal written permission from the woman
>get charged with rape
>suddenly it's phoenix wright and you have to mount your own defence case and everyone assumes you're guilty

No sodas, no junk food, replace meat everyday with eggs everyday, eventually meat from time to time. Pasta, Rice and Potatoes cost very little.
Onions and Spices for flavouring.
Cereals with milk for breakfast.
Fruits for snacks at 4pm.

And I'm from France.

RIP user.

also ass because ass is always on topic

fucking kek

>No sodas
same
>no junk food
I tend to buy a few chocolate bars a week, because I can.
>Pasta, Rice and Potatoes cost very little.
True, pure carbs are cheap.
>replace meat everyday with eggs everyday
Je refuse.

Yeah, there's going to be a puzzle you have to crack to get money, I'm just testing the stuff now.

Alright, say I wanna make a tile-based game though could be made as an ascii game. Should I just use the terminal object I cooked up a few weeks ago or should I crack open a real game engine and use some spritesheets?

I came here to dev, not to feel

>"poor" people that eat meat every day

You're forgetting the option where you use sprites without a "real engine".

How long until I am a true gamedev?

you already are

kickstarter when?

Yeah the terminal object I made option is that option. I'm not going to write my own renderer for something this simple.

H-game that's actually a roguelike
rape on game over
playable succubus race

You could use an existing graphics library at any level, that's different from an entire engine.

Testing some mechanical changes. Basically, you can regain some combo if you absorb a large number of bullets rather than it always being a complete loss.

There's a few of those already, one even came and went from this thread.

yeah but
good grafix

>good graphics/graphics at all
>h game
>roguelike
pick two

show us those "good grafix" you are capable of user
