Overwatch is a character drama story. Not lore heavy or plot building. All heroes have stories among themselves and the story "progression" is finding out about those backstories and inevitably how all the heroes connect in some way.

This was the point of Overwatch since day, fucking, one. Metzen was the one who push a lot of world building but after he left there really wasn't a need to. The focus is the heroes, the world serves as the cradle for them. That's it.

Watch Chu say the same fucking thing for almost an hour. He is writing Overwatch as a character drama that specifically DOES NOT rely on romance in general. It's about other types of connections with very few exceptions to the rule. Very few. With the ONLY relationship he mentioned having romance playing a part in any was somewhere among the big 3 and that's it.

If you expected Overwatch to do something different. You need to go somewhere else. You want something it was never ever intended to be. And this includes being under Metzen's helm as well.

And the same thing goes to you too. Romance isn't playing a significant part. But thinking characters need to break away significantly from the relationship between different heroes goes against what Overwatch is meant to be.
