So Does Veeky Forums like Initial D or treat it like a joke? I know some hate the anime and hate how the 85-86 Corolla gained popularity from it, but I don't know how Veeky Forums Really stands on it

It's fun. First stage was the best. Fifth and final a shit. Legend trilogy a shit.

Everyday a thread about initial d pops out here, also the fact that not a single fuck opens these kind of thread in give you the idea of the autism here.

>I know some hate the anime and hate how the 85-86 Corolla gained popularity from it
The AE86 was already popular beforehand.

First stage and some of second stage was bretty fun, but it lost the magic after that and I think most people here realize that; you'll see a lot of people recommending to watch first stage, but treat the rest of the series as a meme.

only season one and parts of two are accepted and watching past that is a giant chore but must be done if u want to be in with the funny memes

First stage is the pinnacle of anime

First stage was pretty great and second stage has some cool moments, but it gets more and more retarded every season with Dagumi's plot armour. Also the art style changes are awful, I swear to god this show has the most inconsistent art style in the history of animation.

Also Bunta is the best.

first stage came at the right time
wouldn't work at all today, just look at anime now

...

First season awesome

Second season great

Third season meh

Fourth season great

Fifth season meh

All thing considered I enjoyed the series as A whole and think its one of the better anime out their and I have seen a ton of anime in my life

Can't wait till the initial d creators new series gets adapted into anime

It's a staple and you'll be laughed off the board if you haven't seen it. Whether you take it seriously is up to you, we expect you to be smart enough to separate the fantasy in the show from the reality.

THOSE LEAVES

THAT CAT

BOTH BULLSHIT

Daily reminder that all weeb inspired stickers are trash

Also

that font is disgusting.

First and Second stage were fantastic. So were the bonus ones after them. Then it gets all weaby with auras and shit.

Later stages are cool only for Godhand.

>So Does Veeky Forums like Initial D or treat it like a joke?
Both. It's grounded enough in reality for an Veeky Forumstist can enjoy it, but at the same time it's over the top enough to not be taken too seriously (and inspire some ebin maymays that make it more memorable).
It all goes downhill when Project D starts, though: it takes the local racing scene it created, throws it all into the trash, and just transforms into a generic villain of the week battle shounen with races instead of fights (that in turn become more about blind luck and aura bullshit than driving technique).

>the 85-86 Corolla
wat

I think he meant 83 to 87

He was a tard who thought the 85 and 86 were the model years.

>85-86
83-87

>Later stages are cool only for Godhand.
I wonder what his buddy Godfoot would think of the new GTR?

Second stage was great for its sound effects, but this race in particular was pure sound porn.

surely he means AE85/AE86. He just shouldn't have hyphenated methinks because that makes it look like he was saying model years.

I thought the first and third seasons were shit but the fifth was my favorite actually.

Everyone loves first stage and it is a must watch. Everything else past that point is subjective.

In order of quality,I would say it goes
First Stage, Second Stage, Fifth, Third, Fourth,Final.

It's hard to put the in a solid order, past second stage, each stage has it's strong points and weak points.

First Stage is undoubtedly the strongest and most complete and is a must watch.

Second Stage is a solid addition to second stage and is satisfying, if you like First, than Second is a nice addition.

My main reason for liking Fifth Stage is because of the characterization Ryosuke gets, as well has his race. It is really the first battle since second stage that really held serious consequences and weight to it, arguably the most.

Third Stage is the last stage that really heavily shows the original cast of the show, most of the smaller people get a lot less screen time after third stage. Plus the battle at the end was good.

Fourth Stage strong point is the races, there is a lot of them and they are technically good, but lack any serious weight to them. The first 5 ish episodes and last 5 ish are what I liked, the Kyoko stuff was cute, but sad in the end. Fourth stage really suffers due most of the cast of the previous stages being neglected, and it could've benefited to having less episodes to cut the fat off.

I don't really know what to say about final stage, it's good, but it's only 4 episodes, so there isn't a ton of material to work with. My favorite part of Final stage is the end of the last episode, and subsequently the series, it was emotional and wrapped up Ryosuke's arc well.

My main issue with the series past third stage is the lack of real tension as well as ignoring a lot of the cast of the earlier series, which by this time you've spent over 15 hours with. My favorite parts of the later series are the ones involving the characters more so than the racers.

I would certainly watch them all if you have the time, but if you only have time for one then go with First Stage.

The previous thread died, so I may as well post this here. In another thread, someone theorized that Dagumi's 86 is cursed, since most of his victories were because his opponents either had accidents (Nakazato, Miata guy), tried to avoid accidents (S15 guy, EK9 guy), or were just unfortunate (Sweaty S2K man, Kai who spun out TWICE), and the reign of the cursed 86 was ended by Misfaiaringu Shisutemu man who was immune. So what if Sudo was actually a hunter of "cursed" cars? Like

>Sudo hears news about toe-gay racers having accidents very often
>but only when racing against an 86
>pic related, the car is cursed and wants to stop it
>before that, he had to hunt down the infamous Little Bastard and retire it before it killed any more people
>he had to locate and destroy the remains of GoldenEagle
>he defeated Christine
>and had to find and defeat a Lambo Diablo since the car was created by making a deal with the devil
>his final, and most difficult enemy, would be the Dodge Demon

I dunno what it is, but the idea of a vampire hunter Sudo just seems to fit him.

ahh dammit there goes my mostly spoiler free watching of initial d. rip stage 1 - most of stage 4

>goes to thread about a certain thing
>surprised when info in regards to said thing is brought up

what did you expect?

yeah you're right. I'll see myself out.

/a/ usually bitches at us to post these threads on this board, whenever we make a post there.

I see he couldn't defeat Akuma no Zetto.

Animes and mangas in general are for manchildren. I have never watched Initial D because I actually get laid

I watch anime and I get laid, what's your point
It's not 2003 anymore, anime is basically mainstream at this point

>bandana is actually covering severe scars from demonic car hunting

This OP
Just enjoy it and stop whenever

For the same reason Gundam is seldom on /a/ and has a general on /m/. Some people doesn't like their peas with porridge and the powers that be want to enforce this seperation.

brb stealing this idea for a wod hunter campaign

/a/ is literally for newfags
It and /pol/ are now the first boards newfags visit when they show up

when is the next Veeky Forums sings (x eurobeat song)

can we sing a Race of the Night in three weeks?

bump

Spoiler alert: the devil Z had a bent chassis the whole time.

When the anime spans intermittently for 20 years, any change sure is noticeable

(This is a loose murican version of initial-D/Wangan Midnight so keep that in mind for the kinds of characters and cars they'd drive)

Its set in a small town in Colorado, centered around a young guy who just graduated HS and ends up looking for a graduation car with some money he and his parents saved up together and since he doesnt have alot of money (like 3k or so) he goes to his local scrapyard and finds a slightly beat up old Foxbody GT in decent enough condition and buys it, and he eventually gets a job delivering pizzas around town to save up money and work on his "new" car, while he thinks about what he wants to do with his life, all the while racing and working on his car and saving money, and meeting new racers with there own stories and motivations, so kinda (slice of lifey & stret racing)

There'd be local small town drag racing/national park touge racing/ hoodlum hooning/ and the yearly small town rally race that everyone goes to see and has a cash prize and a cute little rally trophy :3

Lots of 80s/90s muscle cars and sporty shitboxes like preludes/celicas/integras/civics/foxbodies/3g camaros/fieros/trans-ams/ fox-thunderbirds/ celica supras/ crx/ miatas/ etc, etc

Awesome..

Reminds me of playing football.

When i was doing it for fun i could hold my own against most.

Its the closest thing to freedom in the world.

I remember when it changed into something else.

And then they ended me and i remember exactly when and where.

..i dont know what this has to do with initial D but yeah..

That feel..

The closest feel i can get is probably go kart racing..

When i have the monies.

I can't be assed to watch wangan. I'm told it's great but all I see are webms of a car going super fast and passing a guy and everyone remarks how fast that car is. It just seems dull.

Wait what cat?

>an adult
>his only friends are teenagers and another adult who's a loser like him
>has a part time job as a gas boy that pays minimum wage
>because he's the best wageslave, he's been promoted over the teenagers
>managed to save up enough money to buy a secondhand Silvia
>a car that's part shitbox, part GODMACHINE
>he's the leader of a "racing team", yet he doesn't know how to drive
>still lives with his mom
>handhold-less, hugless, kissless virgin
>the only girl he ever came remotely close with was some girl who only used him to get close to tofuboy
>he then tries to date her but spaghettis out because she mentioned Dr. Spin in passing
>it has been revealed that he doesn't actually drive often, and instead takes the bus

In what way, shape, or form is Iketani NOT /ourguy/?

People saying things like "I get laid" lead me to believe that they don't get laid

>handhold-less
no ;-;...

They could/should have done more with his character.

I was always under the impression that Iketani was experienced but not really good at racing. Like he has had many years of racing experience, but won very seldomly. He also has extensive knowledge on cars and mechanics, and he has put them to use by tuning his car or studying various cars in existence. He has a passion for cars and racing, which he isn't particularly good at, but despite that, his experience is valuable.

DON'T FORGET THE BEST PART!

>girl lays it out in plain language that she wants his D
>muh insecurities get in the way and Iketani hesitates
>not only misses the big night, but doesn't even call her afterwards despite being a 100% SURE THING

Truly he is Veeky Forumsurguy.

It does seem that way but I think he should have sought out some coaching from someone or some such, I'm just saying I like seeing under dogs come through.

the fact that you keep posting the same two pics and aren't showing any progress makes me question your dedication to the project

just make up your mind you've been going on about this for weeks

Initial D went to shit when it went full race animu

The few episodes between races gave the show time to either build hype/tension for the next race, or to do fun, almost slice of life-y character building.

>The few episodes between races gave the show time to either build hype/tension for the next race, or to do fun, almost slice of life-y character building.
The problem with First Stage was that it had too much time inbetween races, it really dragged on with things that meant nothing and had no value.

The best example of this is episode 8. If you ever rewatch First Stage, you can completely skip that entire episode because only two things that mean anything happen throughout the episode and they're both shown at the start of episode 9.

And to better illustrate my point, episode 7 ends with Takumi having just been convinced through reverse psychology to participate in the race against the R32 on the night of the race, so he heads home to get the car, only to discover his dad is gone and took the car with him, so he gets upset over not being able to race.

Episode 8 ends with Takumi having arrived at the top of the mountain for the race. The race hadn't started yet, they didn't even line up yet, he just arrived at the top. So, the only things that happen throughout the episode and actually mean something are that Takumi's dad comes back home with the car, and Takumi drives up the mountain to race. The rest of the episode is filled with filler that isn't even funny to watch like Iketani and whatshisface going down to find Takumi and convince him to race (which was pointless because he already wanted to race and they couldn't do anything to help), and Itsuki going back and forth mulling over having to admit his error in accepting the challenge.

Second Stage did it right. Second Stage has the right ratio of racetime to downtime and an even distribution throughout the series, which I cannot say about any other portion of the series.

I'm reading "how to" comic books and such, and storyboarding as we speak

Why compare good things like the sounds of the first stage with something as low as porn, meh.
It was awsome indeed.

Why the fuck are tires never mentioned at all besides them getting worn? Surely dagumi wasn't using $50 walmart specials, feels like they should've mentioned something about the type of his, or his opponents tires.

So I guess it's safe to say that Rin Hojo is the Tommy Wiseau of Initial D?

>I did not kill her, that's bullshit, I did not.
>Oh hi, Ryosuke, how's your sex life?

Wow this thread is still up

So what I can Gather is that Veeky Forums Enjoys the 1st and 2nd stage and the rest are kinda boring

but it should be treated like an anime as it has some elements of grounded logic but not most times because

>muh 86
>why dont I drift like the anime

but overall Veeky Forums only treats it as a joke when ebin fags take it literally

correct me if im wrong

both. it's silly, it's dumb, but you simply can't help but get excited when dagumi gets bopped and unleashes his autism

I like it but it became Super Annoying after Getting to se.e so many threads and shit about it
