So I just started this game a couple days ago. I need to be working towards a basic grid by doing raids? Is there anything I need to get from the event or any kind of dailies I should also be doing?

most dailies are trash and only worth doing at magfests (which is now), but absolute beginners doesn't need to bother with that for now

Build loyalty on the guest character because she is a strong water SR. Try to grab the other character from the treasure shop, then grab any of the SSR weapons that you can. You'll want to focus on one main wheel element for now, probably depending on what your starting roll was Or what idols you like the best

you can get the apk but it won't do much because when you try relink your account in 1.1.2 it asks you to update

Special > Event > Challenge battles
Do the first one, it will give you 3 new characters. Next challange battles unlock in coming days. Do them as well for more characters.
You will make your base SR grid out of normal/hard raids of corresponding element. What element you play, will be decided by gatcha/rerolls or idols you like that you unlock from current event.
It is recommended to make first grid out of water/fire/wind/earth. Dark and Light are not recommended as their SR weapons don't have atk up skill, as well as having harder magnas (higher level raids). Wind is most friendly free2play element as in casino (which you should be doing), you can get 80% elemental summon, it's easy to get wind carbuncles (carbuncles are great) and Tiamat Omega Bolts are weapons with fantastic stats and skills.

5/6 now, anything at all is fine.
