The moment the door shuts, Sae sighs and looks at her phone: 0 messages. She stumbles into the kitchen and takes out another box of double fudge ice cream, she knows Makoto won't be back for a few hours. Instead of watching tv, she can't even bring herself to turn it on and instead stares at her reflection on the screen. She mutters to herself "I'm a winner" after every bite.

So i just finish the game and I have 2 questions.

Why did joker got out of jail so quickly after proving that he was innocent in his first incident with the whole probation thing. But yet the police dont seem to care about the phantom thief misconduct (unlawful entry of madarame, hacking the TV radio, and destruction of shido property)? Shouldn't he still be in jail longer because of being part of the phantom thief?

The other question is how come you can kill a cognition in a palace and still be alive in the real world? Do you have to steal the treasure AND shoot them like okumura or just use Loki special ability to make them psychotic?

a cognition and the shadow are not the same thing. A cognition is just part of the palace too.

A cognition is not a shadow, a shadow is literally someone's own repressed feelings. A cognition is just how the owner of that palace views someone else, destroying a cognition has literally no effect. Killing Wakaba's cognition was actually completely unnecessary as Futaba kinda stole her own heart.

For the second question: Shadows and cognitions are separate beings/concepts. A Shadow is a person's 'true self' (to put it simply), whereas a cognition is how that same person perceives others. There is one Shadow per person, but there can be multiple cognitions representing the same person. Killing the cognition doesn't do anything, because it's not tied to the real person like a Shadow is.

Why didn't Goro ever expose their identities? He had the proof to ruin them with.

What would he gain? His motives are already ass-backward and actually going against what he wants. Goro had the opportunity to turn in the phantom thieves for fame, money and women, as well as the ability to assassinate or turn Shido's shadow psychotic to serve revenge against him, he didn't do either because he's FUCKING STUPID.

Actually, that raises a good example.

There's two Cognitive Akechis. One in Sae's Palace (Makoto had to knock him out to prevent him from walking into the cognitive interrogation room and meeting the real Akechi, which would've ruined the ruse), and another in Shido's Palace. If we ever saw her, I imagine there would be two Cognitive Makotos too (one in Kaneshiro's Palace, another in Sae's).

So how exactly does goro kill people? Does he just find them and kill them with a gun? Does he even need to use loki special move for the effect? Because it doesn't make sense otherwise since he killed okumara right when the palace was falling apart then a week later he magically timed it so he dies on TV live.

What you see (Akechi Goro) is just a product of chaotic heart distortion thanks to Cognitive Psience Experiment. The real "Akechi Goro" is sleeping inside and struggling against those distortion from completely taking over his body

Goro mostly just found small-fry in mementos and killed their shadow or used loki to make them psychotic.

A shutdown is similar to Apathy Syndrome from 3, you just kinda lose all desire to exist, eat, drink, breath. Notice that every shadow that the PT attack don't actually die, they just glow bright and learn their lesson. If you actually killed them then goodbye to the owner.

Psychotic breakdowns are poorly explained because Goro dies about 5 minutes after revealing it. It appears to be temporary with no lasting effects, but is a long-range spell Loki can cast on anything. Psychotic breakdowns basically just make people lose their shit and if they are piloting a vehicle they will crash that shit as hard as they can.
