Are towing companies the lowest of the low?

It depends on what the states, county, and city allows for the maximum rate. My city received so many complaints about being ripped off by tow companies that the city created an ordinance limiting tow company fees. So no more $500 first day lot storage fees and weird tow fees that had a huge number of surprise added-charges.

If your state attorney general isn't consumer oriented, then he isn't serving the people that elected him. You should send in a picture of that signage of $700/hour towing fee to your state attorney general and ask if such a fee is legal.

this is Louisville slugger justice territory.

> They don't have insurance to cover their tow fees and be dropped at the mechanic of your choosing, no questions asked.

Bro it says right on the sign; They're dicks.

>Are towing companies the lowest of the low?
Yes. Haven't you ever noticed how tow truck drivers drive like they're in fucking GTA? Tow companies make the insurance industry look saintly.

What a dick

Sensible chuckle

Ummm why are motorcycles the same to tow as a fucking truck?
i can understand $700 an hour to tow a truck you need one of pic related but a fucking motorcycle?

It's for parking, not breakdowns you mong

I still don't understand $700 an hour, even for a truck. I live near where the OP's towing company operates, honestly this isn't a bad idea:

>not putting parking boots on all your wheels when you park

Spend and hour watching them trying to figure out how to move it before they give up.

Flatbed probably

those trucks cost a hell of a lot to run user.
then you have wages on top of that.
adds up.

the motorcycle thing is the scam here.

what good is a flat bed truck?
how is it going to tow pic when it breaks down?

You've got
>gas
>driving time however long
>hook up time which shouldn't take more than 10 minutes unless it's wrapped around a tree
I could see a couple hundred, maybe 300 at the high end.

Im pretty sure they are talking about towing actual trucks user, not a pickup.

There are specialist tow companies about. Not every tow truck is built to carry every vehicle on the road

You lot are clearly a bunch of amateur cucks that let towing and parking management jews walk all over you, get on my level cuck-brahs;

>Be me
>Have to work in a city centre
>Parking near work is extortionate
>Closest car park is managed by a private company
>$30 a day to park
>Don't pay and your wheel gets clamped
>$180 "admin fee" to release clamp, plus $30 charge for parking there
>Come back to car one day, car next to me is clamped
>Take a pic of the clamp and the logo + sticker on it
>Buy the exact same brand of clamp online for $70
>Photoshop their signage using the company logo from their own website
>Print onto waterproof self adhesive stickers
>Put sticker on clamp
>Every time i park now i put the clamp on that i made up on my front wheel, takes 2 mins
>They obviously haven't realised yet since i've been doing it for 8 months now and haven't been clamped by them once (Suspect different rotation of teams throughout the day)
>Even if i do get clamped i'm still in profit
>God bless America

Depends on your state and the officials elected to create laws mandating such activities.

$700/hr is arguable in court, I believe the company has to PROVE that the rate = job.
I do police impound, our rate is about $120 for the tow, and $15 a day for storage. If you can cover the tow, and a few days of storage, the company will usually give you the car back.

There are hundreds of thousands of scumbag towers across the states, these companies are easily identifiable by either really shirty trucks, or trucks that are spotless.

A good way to strike fear into a scumbag is threaten them if they dont have a PUCO number, this carries hefty fines and repercussions.

Have you considered buying a cutting torch to remove the clamp and a plate flipper so they can't grab your plate number?

But the sign specifically says "trucks" are $700/hour and regular cars which im sure a pickup truck falls into the category of is $170 an hour.

Like i said the real scam here is $700 an hour for a motorcycle, that is some fuckface sitting in his office going "motorcycle riders have a lot of disposable income lol"

Amazing. Good job user.

Maybe the strapping fee?

Cutting torches are significantly more expensive than a clamp. Also that would be fucking stupid because he would effectively burn his parking spot if he did that, which is to say he could never park there again and might get charged if caught.

You live near Joliet? I took that picture, its posted in front of the old joilet prison. It's gotta be a joke since that area is always dead without a single car

That clamp is just bolt cutter tier

Truckerfag here

Everything for us is hilariously expensive because 30 years ago we made baller money now with everything but our pay being regulated and taxed into oblivion we make about half what we used to adjusted for inflation

Most of your trucks are company trucks and those companies will pay the 700 bucks to keep that truck moving. It's asinine how much simple things for cars cost for us, pop a lock in big cities is like 500 bucks for something I can do with a universal lockout kit in 5 min. Most of your tow companies for us are like that. Parked at Walmart in Atlanta? They have a fucking guy with a pickup who will follow you in and boot you before you set the brakes, even if you go in to shop, it's 500 to get the boot off plus 250 dollar service fee and it's a dude in a fucking pickup truck I can fold up and store on my catwalk

Towing is "hilariously" expensive for everyone. Nearly 10 years ago my stupid ass ex wrecked her car while I was in it. I stayed to tow the car to my Mom's house where there was space to store it while she went to the hospital with a busted arm and the bill to tow the car TWO FUCKING MILES was nearly $200. TWO MOTHERFUCKING MILES and less than twenty minutes from truck arrival to truck leaving my Mom's house.

Also towtruck drivers are scum of the earth, I hate them with a fiery passion, always swerving around the road like they own it, cutting people off, tailgating, flying through red lights. Fuck them.

In Ohio they passed an ordiance against predatory towing companies who would idle in parking lots and alleys watching people leave their cars before rushing in to tow it. The average cost to get your car the next day was about $250

You can thank insurance for that.

Insurance didn't cover it. What fucking teenager has that kind of coverage on their car without daddy paying for it?

They are gangster parasites

I was going to say Bernie Sanders supporters, but I guess it's close.
