Eh, probably not. I'm actually new myself. Would play SF casually but never touched charge characters up until I started playing V and chose Chunners to be one of my mains. She definitely requires a lot of skill but since she's been nerfed since S1, that means you're going to have to work that much harder to win, which is kinda bullshit. One of her BnBs is one of the hardest ones in the game iirc, if not THE hardest.

I just went back to Ryu today after a while and it struck me just how much easier to use he was than Chunners. But if you want a good beginner character aside from Ryu, since he's bottom-tier, try Ken.

I didn't realize how important the characters in a fighting game were to me up until the DBZ announce today.

I really don't like DBZ chars or the Toriyama art style anymore. Loved it as a kid, but can't stand it now. I don't like the characters, the story, or anything about the show anymore

SFV is an okay game, the hate is overblown. I'd pay $40 for SFV+S1+S2 that seems like a good deal to me. You'll find games at least.
