Not necessarily. If there's any thing I've learned from playing Ranked ANYTHING, it's that even if they pick "meta" picks, it doesn't mean they know how to play them, and could very well be more effective on an "off-meta" pick.

Generally the game is only definitely restricted to "Meta" picks in LOLPROFESSIONAL VIDEO GAMEPLAY FOR VIDEO GAME ATHLETESLOL because the aforementioned meta-safe picks are meta picks because they're most optimal in matches where both teams are VERY well coordinated and generally just stick to what is SAFEST, which is what counters and is countered by said meta-picks and fares the easiest in that type of environment.

So basically, meta shit doesn't apply to the vast majority of games because they do not reflect very coordinated 6v6 games that you watch on Twitch or wherever the fuck bullshit Esports is watched. In YOUR games, the people to blame are the worst players of each team, because losses are chalked up to whicheever makes the most mistakes just as much if not more than who the better players are.

honestly though, why do people shit their pants about sym? she can kill a lot of characters in a 1v1, teleporter/shieldgen/orbs are all great for the team and her shield is the most versatile in the game.
i don't see why she's supposed to be bad.

There is honestly nothing more satisfying then chasing down a team and picking off every squishy as your beam gets larger and larger, rein then takes down his shield to swing at you but by this point it doesn't matter your beam is so strong you take him down in seconds.
