>most successful race car
that would be the E30 M3.
But your other points are true.

successful Formula 1 engines

I like to think its the 956 in terms of a series and 911 in terms of overall wins, but you could be right with the E30's DTM and rally victories

>e30
>DTM wins

BMW got utterly cucked by Mercedes in DTM

not sure about the number of victoties of the 911 but the E30 M3 is generally considered the most successful road racing car because it won 1436 races in 1628 days.

im thinking of touring cars then

>Is there anything they can't do?
beat mazda?

>muh touring car races against fwd ecoboxes!
e30 fags go away

They did tho. Multiple times.
>The mclaren MP4/2
Out of the 48 races it entered, it won 22

>FWD econoboxes
sure. the E30 won races against twice as powerful Nissan GTRs, Sierra Cosworths, Audi 200 Quattros.

>it was engineered by porsche, just paid by TAG

interesting, maybe porsche is indeed the best

>the E30 won races against twice as powerful Nissan GTRs
lol sure. the m3 was stomped by rs500s, hr31 skylines, r32 gtr and even falcons and commodores

The 290hp Group A E30 still passed the 550hp R32's on a regular basis in Australia.
Not trying to say the E30 was unbeatable but in terms of outright racing victories it's the most successful car ever.
There is a reason prices are skyrocketing on E30 M3's

they cant make a proper consumer car

this
And they suck balls.

I have a 987 and they will have to tear it from my dead cold hands!

Give me examples

They can't outsell Toyota

Where's my prize?

>paying $100k for a polished beetle

>suck balls
>Give me examples
can't you just go to a gay porn site?

>Is there anything they can't do?
focus on shit that you wrote before

I'm pretty sure normies can't tell the difference.

Remember when they only made slow sports cars and almost went bankrupt?

I thought that was now?

>Is there anything they can't do?
Win wars.

dude isnt this car SOHC?

Not an argument.
Porsche can make the proper consumer cars period.

youtube.com/watch?time_continue=169&v=Fh8_2zQZ3xM

yeah, nar, your a shit cunt.

t.clueless

>can make the proper consumer cars period
That's got to be popular with their female demographic.

>Is there anything they can't do?
fail

I urinate on Porsche and their heritage.

>Remember when they only made slow sports cars
what universe was that in

Porsches, specifically the 911, are like vanilla ice cream. Everyone likes them but they're undeniably bland and inoffensive. People try to make vanilla ice cream more interesting by putting toppings on it, simply because it's so bland on it's own. Look at a GT2RS/GT3RS. Flashy colors unlike the usual subdued tones of a regular 911, a big wing to go along with the extra performance bits, but no substantial change in terms of styling.

Look at literally every other long running performance car. The M3, M5, Skyline GTR, Corvette, Camero, Mustang, Miata, Z cars, DB series, I could go on. They all take design cues from their predecessors and integrate them into the new models. They are constantly evolving while acknowledging their heritage.

The same can't be said for the 911. While there are some slight updates and obviously new materials and sciences are incorporated, the styling really hasn't changed in decades. And why would it change? It looks good. But at the same time, the complacency and refusal to truly redesign the car has led to what I view as a stagnation of the design. This is the philosophy of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" taken to the extreme. People say the 911 design looks timeless and ages well, but that's because it hasn't fucking changed since 1964.

I'd love to have a 911 or one of its high performance variants, they're all fantastic. But there are plenty of performance coupes I'd rather have for the price.

It's vanilla ice cream. And don't get me wrong, I do like vanilla ice cream. But how often do you eat vanilla ice cream without any toppings?

The 90s

They did change up styling once and everyone bitched about it

vanilla ice cream is my favorite
much better than cocoa ice cream

Yes, they can't set the Nurburgring record. Sorry G*rmans, maybe try a bit harder next time.

Looks like Britain is better both at wars and at making cars.

the record lapping car mclaren was modified by a 3rd party - invalid time.

The Porsche 956 says hi.

>Most le mans wins

Really? I thought Audi had shaken that.

Then again the Audi era borefest made me stop caring about LM ;

>Is there anything they can't do?
Braking without oversteering.

forgot:
most aesthetic
makes buying benz or bmw irrelevant choice

bmw and benz still are relevant choices if you want an affordable luxurious or sporty car

do you know how i now you are under 18 and retarded

Now I know what to say when people ask why I think 911's are just ok.
Really reminds me of how BMW used to be.
>user, don't you want a BMW?
Not really
>But performance
They all look the same
>No they don't

>But how often do you eat vanilla ice cream without any toppings?
That's what the almost infinite amount of 911 variants are for, dummy. The base Carrera is the vanilla ice cream everything else is based on. Then you have a massive range of toppings to choose from: various different power outputs, naturally aspirated or turbocharged, anything from a track ready monster to a comfy cruiser, multiple roof styles, you name it.

The beauty of the 911 is that everyone has a favorite variant, just like everyone has a favorite topping for their vanilla ice cream.

>everyone has a favorite variant
That's kind of like saying "Everyone has a favorite type of ladder". Yeah ok, there are variants, but they pretty much all look the fucking same.

Did you just compare a 911 to a fucking ladder?

Or you could just say you don't like vanilla ice cream. That's perfectly valid.

what's more reliable porsche or lexus?
panamera or ls?

>most successful race car

Nigga u dumb

Yes, I did.
Useful and solid, but almost identical to other models.

But I do like vanilla ice cream.
Just not as much as I like other flavors.

Lexus according to reliability studies, but only just.

People have different tastes, I'm not one to judge what you like obviously.
It's like I personally don't particularly care for the McLaren F1. I respect it, what it did and what it can do, would lose my shit if I ever got to drive one, but if I had the money to buy one I'd probably get a Carrera GT instead.

>I respect it, what it did and what it can do
Well put, this is how I feel about 911's.
But taste being what it is, when the time came to make a choice, I went in a different direction.

I beg to differ.

>constant innovation from aerodynamics, airflow, and fuel flow
>absolute domination of motorsports from NASCAR to Trans Am to LeMans to the point of their designs being banned or released so they don't rape their competition
>constantly developing supercars that outperform every expectation, pushing the absolute limits of possibility with positively archaic technology
>a skunkworks team so far ahead of their competition that they can take an old hunk of iron and make it faster than multi-million dollar R&D programs utilizing the best technology in the industry
>has cheated death THREE SEPARATE TIMES only to come back each time stronger than ever and running for the throats of their competitors
>literally owns an entire segment of the car world, dominates four others, and created two of them
>changed the face of both consumer automotives and racing for the better on numerous occasions

What is Mopar.

trash

It's okay to be wrong.

I love those runny egg headlights.

Amber headlights are gonna be a big thing in the future when people start to be very nostalgic about the 90s, switching clear blinkers ruins the period correct look.

...

Porsche is cheapest of sports cars, it's like wanting to have a good cola, then buying some house brand cola instead of coca cola

and yet the best

yeah, its like this bootleg cola that somehow manages to fit your tastes better than the original one

>is there anything they can't do

build a successful FR grand tourer without being chastised

>understeers on turn in
>unstable braking, wants to 180
>slower to throttle on exit than MR
>so bad that even poorshh abandoned it

What is RR

...but they still use RR

>tfw you didn't buy a 964 RS when they were £25k

>sets the production memering record with RR

>autists on Veeky Forums think they know better than engineers with decades of experience tuning RR

Really makes you think

the only important metric is value/performance, something porsche lacks in spades.

The 928 was great though
>durr it isn't a fancy Beetle

>FR
>grand tourer

most pointless cars to exist

>yes i have a performance drivetrain
>but not quite
>my car is very fast and expensive
>but not that fast actually
>it'll go fast in a straight line sorta
>yes i know that's illegal and that the only legal way to enjoy a car is a track
>yes i know i'd get smoked on any drag strip and that my car sucks for road courses
>why didn't i buy an FF/FAWD hatch? uh....those are for cucks duh.
>*uses 300hp to travel at the speed limit*

>compares the old GT2 to the new 1LE

it was great, but not great enough to breed a lineage

They can't accommodate drivers over 6'

>excuses

911 rsr is MR. They've effectively admitted that RR is shit and their customer base likes shit.

I disagree. Modern 911s are a lot more like the old 928 than old 911s

6:47, dickhead.

i'm talking about real grand tourers. cars that you drive down the highway and then can take through the Appalachian and then through the middle of NYC

just because you've never driven one and don't understand the appeal, doesn't mean you need to just blindly bash them all

i disagree. they're not FR with massive trunks, V8s, and long wheelbases

anyways, Porsche did build the greatest and most organic supercar ever to hit the road

>excuses

lol no

>lol i trol u

...

>The base Carrera is the vanilla ice cream everything else is based on. Then you have a massive range of toppings to choose from: various different power outputs, naturally aspirated or turbocharged, anything from a track ready monster to a comfy cruiser, multiple roof styles, you name it.

Yet they all look the same, and ultimately drive the same, except some are a fraction of a second faster the the rest.

I kinda like Porsche in general, especially the 80's and 90's models, but there's always that feeling that their unadventurous design philosphy has ultimately sucked the passion out of the brand. I'm sure that it works wonders for them at a commercial level, but at the end of the day, the people that connect with that mindset tend to be bland, boring, safe, financiancially conscious, conservative salesmen for a medical software company with a small percentage of the business.

Porsche buyers can't have fun with their cars because they just don't know what fun is. It's not something rational you can invest in. There's only two things you can talk about in a conversation with a Porsche owner: How fast his car is around the Ring, and his job.

Buying a Porsche is like failing at loving life.

watch as Prez/poo/ spergs at this

isn't it slower than the nismo at the Nurburgring too?????

lol

carrera gt > F1

looks better, better exhaust noise. only points the F1 wins is for racing experience and top speed

>carrera gt > F1
lol
no fucking way

dailymotion.com/video/x5sn7u

also, 5:30

...

yup lol

Well yeah, vanilla ice cream is still vanilla ice cream at its core, just like a 911 is still a 911.
If you prefer a different flavor that's just down to personal taste.

brutal

called it lol, prez/poo/ is sperging out of control

Does anyone else here live in a city where you see dozens of these per day?
I feel that's definitely had a hand in my opinion of them.

The wheel base has only gotten longer and longer and they're still 2+2s

"massive trunks" are relative

Live in Toronto and see plenty of them. Nor necessarily a bad thing, means I'm spoiled for choice if I want to buy one used
The Porsche dealerships here are also super friendly, even if you're a poorfag buying a $20 gasket
