What do you guys use for Empire stacks? I'm quickly realizing Empire infantry is just crap and I should just get about 6 units of halberdiers to hold the line and fill the rest with handgunners and artillery.

TWW does not have formations, it favours balls of troops because of the way morale and AOE magic buffs work

Vampire death star dominated MP for a long time, a tactic that is literally just massing everything and sending it forward in a ball and is still very efficent, even after the health regen cap.

Greatswords are good too.

Dragons and ogres have their place in Warhammer but sometimes i just want to watch a bunch of mortal men beat the shit out of each other without any magic shenanigans and plot armors involved.

swordsman and spearmen aren't too bad if you got the honest steel general skills. 54 melee defense on shielded spearmen for 100 GPT isn't bad.

but that assumes you've got good cavalry to do the killing or you got ranged firing into gaps.

The funny thing was if you tried that tactic against Vampire counts you would get your shit pushed in by wind of death. Warhammer multiplayer in general is just dumb.

They overplay the supposed implausibility of ratmen existing. No one in the Empire should be shocked to discover that ratmen did exist, nor would it automatically make someone crazy to suggest they did. That's whats overplayed, the "don't be absurd crazyman" reaction.
It's a fantasy world dominated by chaos, monsters, beatmen, and other creaturemen races of all types. The possible of ratmen to exist wouldn't be unreasonable or shocking to someone living in it, even if they didn't believe/know such creatures did exist.
