yes but not those ones
i prefer a solid line

They have the potential to add an interesting flair to the car design-wise. It's fucking stupid that they're mandatory now.

some cars look good with them, some dont

No. I like turning on the lights if the day isn't very bright, and governments keeping their paws out of things like underwear design and cola flavors.
PS Also only incandescents. LED and xenon fags can suck a dick. We have the technology to make super strong and bluish lamps affordable now, we in the future we get it, let's go back to the ones that actually looked good.

yeah, the audi christmas lights look stupid

Depends on the design but they tend to be kinda ugly, and way too bright.

When those christmas light dots came on cars I instantly knew they will be replaced by continuous light stripes in the car face lift. it was so painfully obvious that this dot faggotry was intentional so they have another "great" update that fixes the dot stuff on the facelift.

Are you 70 or just poor?

>only incandescents

I understand some of your points but this one is absolutely idiotic.
fluorescent lamps were horrible and I didn't buy the hype and still bought incandescents for living spaces and fluorescent only for hallways, garages etc.
but now LED light advanced so fucking much, you can have LEDs that emit light really close to that of the sun with near perfect colors and no fucking disgusting tint to it or something. of course only if high CRI and those are somewhat expensive.

so apart from initial buying costs and nostalgia there's no reason for buying incandescent bulbs anymore especially since they're actually more like fucking heaters than light emitters.

Incandescents look comfy. They look warm and they produce heat, it all clicks naturally.
Of course you could make a LED that imitates incandescents, but it is lame, like those candle-shaped light bulbs that flickered imitating a fire. Full spectrum light bulbs sound like the "perfect" bulb in theory, but in reality they look cold, you need a bit of that yellow/red.
At least put some sort of diffuser in front of them to make it easier on the eyes. It isn't as futuristic as clear plastic, but it werks.

I'm indifferent to them. I have my headlights and foglights on at all times anyway. They shut off if the engine isn't running so I just leave both switches on 24/7 and forget about it.

Replacing cheap bulbs slightly more often feels like a small price to pay for being slightly more visible and not having to remember to turn them on if it rains or gets foggy out.

>but in reality they look cold, you need a bit of that yellow/red.

That's what the light temperature numbers are for.
Your normal light bulb you like so much usually is around the 3000k mark so if you want a replacement you have to buy something with the same temperature or it will look totally off.

Also, of course cheap LED lights tend to have off colors.
So yes, if you're that into incandescents stay with them or buy high CRI LEDs with the same temperature. If you buy cheap shits you will get your confirmation that LEDs suck.

All I'm seeing is annoying blue lights in my mirror or some super white LED s that are adjusted poorly do that I'm constantly blinded when I look in the mirror.

In the end it's never the same, believe me I've tried (the EU has already banned incandescent light bulbs).
I'll just have to get used to it until people get over how much they fucking love science and safety statistics and try to make things pretty again, hopefully something that isn't just a Chinese imitation of the past and still looks good.

Pic related, me when some blue LED daytime running light fag is flying towards me in their shitbox

This. And LED bulbs at Ikea are so hilariously cheap as well these days

Here in Canuckistan Canadian Tire was selling $8 packs of 6 LED bulbs with a $7 rebate, that's like under 15 US cents per LED bulb

>they produce heat
That's just wasted energy and something you want to avoid

>make things pretty again

LED filament bulbs

You haven’t seen my “day time LED bar” yet

>or some super white LED s that are adjusted poorly do that I'm constantly blinded when I look in the mirror.

That's usually what mandatory car inspections prevent.
Some countries have them.

Nope because when one LED goes out the entire strip and 2 lbs of injection molded plastic must be replaced and costs > $100 and people don't want to pay a specialist to solder in a new single diode if another one will go next month.

The efficiency road leads to these, riding a bus, then a bike and eventually communism.

Yes. Every non shitbox car looks better with their daytime running lights on.

Are you the guy that stockpiled a gorillian incandescent when it was announced that sales of them were going to be banned?

No, I don't like them. I like the idea of them, and used properly they are a great idea. As a leaf however, we have had them as mandatory equipment for years now, and so many idiots don't turn on their lowbeams at night because "my lights are on". So we have a ton of people driving with DRL's and no taillights which is painful for me.

>he prefers incandescent lights to LEDs
This is a special kind of autism being displayed here.

My cars look better with them on

Better efficiency also leads to this

You'd understand if you paid attention in highschool science class

DRLs don't change the fact tat people are idiots

On a dark stretch of the 401 at night I almost rear ended a guy driving an F100 with absolutely no lights on
And a lot of headlights are automatic now, even something like my mom's 10 year old Honda

>he doesn't have auto-dimming mirrors
Is that what driving in 2006 was like?

I'm not. But I do have a little stash.

Boomer, get out

Mercury Vapour is peak aesthetic.

Honestly, I think auto headlights are a great idea. Way too many people drive without lights. Now if only we could get people to adjust their headlights...

>ricers installing cheap xenons without auto-leveling

They're okay, and helpful for the folks that always forget to turn their headlights on when necessary. but now I can never be sneaky driving through a neighborhood, the lights just give me away :(

>helpful for the folks that always forget to turn their headlights on when necessary
They probably shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Why do some high end GMs have shitty individual daytime light strips -- while even the low end Buick Encore has the smooth solid strip?

Yes, enough to retrofit some on my car.

Probably because the face lifted Encore came out after the C7

>foglights on at all times

you're a cancerous piece of moronic shit kill yourself faggot

don't care for them much, but the recent trend of having the corresponding foglight come on for left - right turns are dumb as hell

True, my pickup truck has them and they look tacky as fuck. Just some things that don't belong on a basic work truck.

You might be thinking of cornering lights, which are cool as hell when set up right. Japanese cars have had those for decades, and swiveling headlights that turn with the steering wheel have been a thing since the 1948 Tucker.

They're not fog lights, they're driving lights aimed around 45° to each side and illuminate the path of the vehicle, instead of driving into darkness with static headlights. Even this board's most beloved meme car has them, in it's facelifted version.

youtu.be/GzkXPS62mLw

no, i'm talking about actual foglights coming on when turning

cancer: the car

this comment
>Is there a way to turn them on all the time?

who else here uses? their foggys as daytime running lights?

only the retarded of Veeky Forums do this.

No. Because I don't see the point in them.

Just seems like another part I'll have to replace at some point.

Just walk

This is a modern version of cornering lights, Most VAG brand cars have this feature.

t. boomer

>muh comfy
>muh feelings

LEDs are objectivley better. Stop being a feelz fag.

>t. jealous boomer who doesn't have foggys

LED ones are legit. The old style that uses your halogen headlights or turn signals are retarded. It just burns the bulbs out or causes people to not turn on their headlights.

Why isn't there tail lights that stay on constantly?

>Why isn't there tail lights that stay on constantly?
2007+ BMWs you can have their tail light DRLs on constantly with coding

Jeeps headlights needed replacing so I got some aftermarket housings. Look pretty neat. Easily visible in the daytime, too.

My Mom's 2000 Breeze has running lights
but they're optional, can't remember the last time I used them but I should probably start next time I drive it.

ditto

I installed a set of the Philips universal fit DRL kits to my car, but also spliced in a switch in my center console that can turn them on or off whenever I want instead of them being on whenever the engine is on. I use them during the day 99% of the time anyway

I feel like fewer people pull out from side roads in front of me now, but it may be placebo

>Do you like daytime running lights?
My car automatically turns them off to save power and thus gasoline if the daytime is bright enough. I also have a switch to manually turn them off.

>they're actually more like fucking heaters than light emitters.
The heat of front and rear lights is good in snow and ice country though.

this tech is illegal in the US actually because it can not be found in a ford parts bin

I hate newer headlights. My truck has a yellow hue and its not very bright. But then I see a headlight bright blue and pierces my eyes

Yes, but asshats that use them as their lights during the night all deserve painful, fiery deaths

So why does Mazda offer it on their new cars?

DRLs have been proven to reduce accidents

In countries where it really snows these have been a thing for decades. New ones are just high pressure nozzles

I think certain Canadian models of cars came with nozzles standard while they weren't available at all in the US

this was pioneered by bmw. why do nippons always steal?

Adaptive highbeams was actually done by Mercedes first

And it's not like Mazda competes with Mercedes or BMW. The fact that these safety features are becoming more common on economy cars is a good thing

May as well bitch that everyone's copying memory seats from Ford

Not really because during a certain times of the day (evenings and early mornings) when the DRL are very visible due to the low ambient illumination, it can be hard for me to tell that the car in front of me is not braking.

They're aight. Mine are just three little bars that make the signature for the stang.

>LED and xenon fags can suck a dick
BOOMERS

>Ford created the automobile, why do germans and nippons and gooks and chinks and ___ and ___ and ___ .... always steal?

if its just low beam and they're not too bright, then I don't give a fuck.
but if they're HID's or LED's that blind you in the middle of the day they can fuck right off.

Germans invented the automobile though, Ford made it accessible to the everyman because they pioneered mass production.

98 CRI is not 100 like incandescent lights.
Also cars use halogen, an incandescent technology, but no one who knows what they're talking about call halogens incandescent casually.
Also that image is misleading as fuck because there are plenty of high CRI fluorescent lights, after googling for 2 seconds I found 98 CRI Philips fluorescent t8's.
Yet the best LED I could find after minutes of searching was 95. Most "good" LEDs are 90. Do you know why? Because it's the bare minimum that won't make food unappetizing. Prolonged exposure to 90 CRI is still taxing.
I can walk up to any Incandecent lightbulb within a normal color temp and get 100 CRI for basically nothing. It can emit warmth which is hugely important. And it doesn't need any circuitry to run or dim. LEDs failure rates are immense because of their circuits. Sure the LED component may be rated at 100000 hours. But the circuit boards give out and the lights either flicker, run extremely dim, or take longer than a shitty CFL to start.
LED is meme.
I have halogen light bulbs that were in use before I was born. There are incandescent lights in the world that have been run daily for over a hundred years that are still in service.

LED is to light bulbs what Pex is to water lines.
Junk.

>ricing a 2nd gen legacy
neck yr fuckin self pham

>rice
They're OEM

normal fog lights are fine though. It's just an extra light that is super low angled and isn't even bright. The modern LED DRLs that replaced fog lights are cancerous though. Shining that very sharp, unappealing, hard-on-the-eyes light everywhere.

way too many cars come with their headlight projectors aimed too high now and they shine right at eye level for me in my old, standard height car

why do jeepfags always have cancerous blinding chink lights?

I love it when posters here aren't using trips or names and you recognize them with their cars

Elaborate please.

They're OEM, normal ass lights that are 6 inches off the street and angled downward. How would that bother anybody at all? Shit's not even bright.

I'm actually starting to have a hard time driving my shitbox at night because it seems like more and more fags have those high intensity beams that pierce your very soul and shine just fucking everywhere.

>LEDs have no hot spots where you really want the light to be focused
>LEDs have too much foreground light, making it harder to see in the distance
>LEDs are harsher on the eyes
>LEDs are affected worse by water/dirt on the lens
also
>slight curvature in the road, causing someone's headlight beams to shine slightly higher
>their LED/HID lights instantly blind the fuck out of you

If by "cancerous and blinding", you mean "properly aligned",then I don't know.

literally everything you mentioned is because of shitty implementation of them and has literally nothing to do with the LED itself.

it is no wonder if you get blinded by aftermarket ebay LED roof planks

>Sarah, I'm going home.

>pioneered by bmw. why do nippons always steal?

Technology sharing between Axis partners.

You are a retard if you do this desu.
Also it's pretty much illegal in my country to do that

I hate them almost as much as headlights that you can't turn off when it's dark outside.

As much as I enjoy seeing people with their fog lights on even though there is no fog at night.
