That's likely due to Goonchat being shit. One way to alleviate that sort of thing, I suspect, is to collapse multiple identical lines into one line. So "X steps onto the glass shard!" "X steps onto the glass shard!" "X steps onto the glass shard!" would turn into "X steps onto the glass shard! x3"
