new fag here, i dont know shit, what is an ls? and why is it a popular rx swap

...

ls is a pushrod v8 and because they are light and powerful, main reason people don't like doing any swap in an rx is it ruins the 50/50 weight ditribution but an ls won't ruin that.

...

Don't you have Japanese Child porn to post somewhere alphonso?

Basically, during the mid 90's Jesus Christ himself came down from heaven and gave the blueprints to the LS motor to GM.

The rest is history.

i don't post child porn

anymore*
we shouldn't have told you about the guy on /k/ who went to prison for it.

i have never posted child porn before???? what? i am not attracted to children.

>damage control the post
Keep telling yourself that, in the mean time i am going to give you the title of "alphnso, fiddler of children"

nice projection. sperg more

Nice damage control, only digging your hole deeper you filthy pedo.

...is the implication here that the LS engine powering those cars somehow caused these incidents? My interpretation is PEBWAS.

>literally obsessed with children

nice projection

it's a truck engine that retards think is okay to put in a sportscar because the autistic engineers at GM do it all the time. Little do they understand, not even normies bought their shitty ass cars,so they almost went bankrupt, yet somehow these "supposedly informed" car enthusiasts still haven't figured that out yet. GM has never made a good car, isn't making any good cars, and will never make a good car

The LS engine is a truck engine. Get over it.

that was fast

also what happens when you have alot of power output from a small physical entity? heat buildup. LS engines are fucking garbage for overheating and their relibility is abysmal at best, but these GM cucks keep defending the LS as if it's anything more than a truck engine turd of an engine.

I have a feeling this was started by the shitter posting now.

Yfw when you realize the engine in the viper is a "truck engine"

Hint; srt10 ram

Wasn't the LS1 debuted in the Camaro, and the Viper engine a new block loosely based on the magnum?

Small, cheap, reliable, powerful. HUGE more powerful potential with cheap parts market.

Cry more eurofag.

Yes yes well done LS well done LS

HOWEVER...

>can't run 5's

i want a LS powered ranger

5 seconds is like top fuel territory

I was curious what the differences are between the 5.7L and 5.3L engines

What is the best way to obtain an LS engine in Europe?

T: someone unironicolly thinking about an LS swap

Looking at buying a GM wagon, most likely an LT1 Roadmaster, even an older 350-powered generation if I come across one.

In case the engine fails, how easy will it be to replace it with a junkyard 5.3L Vortec? Will I need a special/modified ECU to get the dash gauges working? There's a 4L60 transmission, so the LS would seemingly bolt on no problem - I just need motor mounts, right?

Sorry, doesn't seem to be any build guides on forums anywhere.

just order a rebuilt crate engine desu

the whole "junkyard pull" thing is a meme

How is it a truck engine if it was first designed for use in cars?

>LS engines are fucking garbage for overheating and their relibility is abysmal at best.
Since when? I've put over 260k miles on mine myself, hasn't overheated once.

Not a whole lot/small things. Combustion chamber volume, intake mani volume, displacement (bore), camshaft profile, stuff like that. It's all the same basic engine, just tweaked for uses in different vehicles.

Not ls, but ls related, is there a standalone tcu for gm's newer 6,8, and 10 speed transmissions? I'd love a 10 speed with manual valve body and ratchet shifter.

5 is funny car territory- 3s are top fuel territory. Hell, top fuel rails have ejected cylinder heads off their blocks half track and still run 5s.

How easy would it be to drop a 5.3 in place of a TBI 350? Engine in my k1500 is tired and am debating between hopping up the 350 or swapping in a 5.3.

Since the El Es Juan is rated at 345 hektiks and 350 torks while the Syclone was rated at 280 and 350 respectively, would throwing an LS1 in a first gen Sonoma effectively make a cheaper, faster Syclone?

Basically.

I think the appeal of the Syclone is that there are so few of them and they were relatively unique for the time. Kinda like the GNX. still cool cars though.

How hard is it to run E85 on a stock computer setup? I have absolutely zero knowledge on what sensors are needed or what GM ECU's have flex fuel "enabled"

I just want to know if its worth it to stick to stock ECU and figure out E85 or if I should just go with an aftermarket ECU

Breaking into the stock ECU is a bit of a pain in the ass and requires investing in some rather expensive software (unless you're taking it to a dyno tuner or something, then be prepared to drop a couple hundred bucks their way)- Not to mention "flex fuel" wasn't really so much a power provision as it was a fuel efficiency one. Also just picking up a rando LS engine that likely has stock (and small injectors) that necessitate an upgrade to run e85 for power purposes means they won't get along with basically any stock ecu meaning aftermarket will still be the way to go- Insofar as I've seen, anyhow, some sources may have different thoughts.

I wonder if people have decided to make "counterfeit" SyTys, by turboing the 4.3s and throwing 4.3s in the rest and painting them all black. Did they use different suspension from the Sonoma and Jimmy, or did they share the same underpinnings?

Thanks for the info my dude. Hunting for the right GM ECU with all the correct parameters for flex sounds like a nightmare, I'd rather just spend a grand and change for a gold box or holley setup

I'm only working with a gen 3 motor anyway so I'll bend rods before I have to worry about E85

Well, the SyTys all had full time AWD systems, so that's a dead giveaway. Beefed up shocks, springs, and sway bars are another difference. IIRC they used the Pontiac firebird dash instead of the standard s10 dash.

You'd need a flexfuel sensor unless you want to only have an E85 tune.
I'm actually not sure if an older (LS1) computer can even handle changing between 93 octane and E85. I'm sure that an LSA can but that's a decade newer.
Regardless, you'll probably be paying someone that has a dyno and the software to handle the tune.

...

>I'm actually not sure if an older (LS1) computer can even handle changing between 93 octane and E85.
I think its a matter of hunting down specific Tahoe ECU's that came with flex. I'd rather just spend money on an aftermarket ecu desu

>Regardless, you'll probably be paying someone that has a dyno and the software to handle the tune.
oh of course, I plan on doing that anyway if I go E85 or pump gas

Anyone have experience camming one of these?
I have an ls3 and want a nice midrange bump in power. Gas mileage isn't a huge concern, but needs to be reasonable. Auto, stock stall. Dont care about idle. Will be in a 3600lb car. The one that looks like around the one I want is a 218/226 with around 590 lift.

GMW

Really want to LS swap my crown vic but that would ruin the point of my cheap (keyword, cheap) luxobarge road pillow.

>this fucking moron has obviously never owned an ls engine

>regurgitating memes he's read on the internet

Fucking kys m8

That's one of the three megashitters not using s name, anytime you see a mention of any LS overheating and not a c7 z06 run hard it's them. Most c7 shit I'd them as well but if the post is reasonable it's not them.

sperg more janny

Get a 90's Caprice and ls swap. Otherwise bolt ons will get a modular to near LS power.

Have you thought about a supercharger and rear end gears?

I really hate /b/ style shit like this, however, I can indeed post in this thread...I have a 2005 Silverado with a 4.8l lt Gen3 engine...285hp, 290 torks...

>Discussing cars is /b/

what he meant to say is that your shitposting is /b/-tier

it's that bad

google is worthless; can someone with an ls4 give me the dimensions? wondering if it'll fit in my car

>Discussing cars is shitposting

Google your car, has it been LS swapped? Then it fits!

>posting Literal Shit (LS) isn't shit-posting

...

Why an LS4? transverse v8 isn't worth it to be honest.
Don't engage him.

it's already a fwd car so i figure it's less work

fantastic. i love this car. that said, whats the weird thing on the left of the hood

hose & housing for the washer jet i guess

What car?

hyundai tiburon :3

There's an aussie with a ls3 supra being built. Bloke has over 100k poured into the project already.

How the fuck do you spend that much money on an LS swap even with shop labor rates?

>aussie

probably spent the bulk of it on booze

Come in the aussie discord and chat to him. He did the swap himself, he's just using really expensive parts.

Everything is three times as expensive in Australia even if it's domestically manufactured. The rampant shitposting is to distract themselves from it

Get rid of your piece of shit and get a real car.

c-can i join?

Is your rusty old lump of asthmatic iron an LS? No, I don't think it is.

You're extremely rude. Apologize

No, you're stupid to think that your rusty piece of dime a dozen smallblock is relevant to anyone who is interested in an LS

You're delusional if you think it isn't related. Kill yourself

you worthless sack of crap. your engine is shit and you are shit.

enjoy never getting a woman and being a forever alone loser with your cuck smog era motor

>LS fangirls are this easily triggered by a carburetor
Making me laff user

you are a fucking homo faggot.

you don't belong here
you are not wanted

fuck off with your smog motor

lol

>HIS ENGINE IS LITERALLY RUSTING

omg u sure got me lol haha great post

Memes aside, that was a spare I had laying around. Pine sol cleaned it up real nice

So, which LS engines came with a cable driven throttle, and which ones had Drive-by-wire? I can't find any info on which engines got which/how difficult it is to swap between the two. Swap candidate has a cable system (TBI 350), and I'm not sure if they make stand-alone pedals for it. Been eyeballing LM7s since they're basically everywhere, but I can't tell which throttle body they have.

LS cucks are sad, insecure sissies, these aren't news

Any Gen 3 engines have 3 mounting holes for the throttle body, Gen 4 they moved on to 4 bolt holes to mount the throttle body. I have a 98 that came with a cable throttle body so I know at least that year did. I think that any factory cable throttle body you can get will be a Gen 3. There are take-off Gen 3 87mm throttle bodies for sale cheap all the time. As to how hard it is to swap between the two I don't know, when I moved to gen 4 parts I had a 4 bolt hole cable throttle body made and went that route. Many different companies make cable throttle bodies for these engines.
