Lazy as fuck inline 6 nevertheless. Any turbo B23x will piss all over it at 10psi+ and cost less. Split axle that can't take abuse. The M90 box is pretty much its only selling point, and it's a weak one.

E34 wagon with the infinitely more sturdy M60B30 engine and zf 5 speed would be a much better bet, and those even has decent seats.
