My noob-y way of hitting consistent d/f moves and not accidentally getting just straight up down ones is to press d/f slightly before whatever button the attack is on. Am I losing frames by doing so?

probably because of resolution scaling, which goes down to 50 in low settings and looks terrible

try keeping it at 75 (or 70 or whatever) with the other settings on low

or do some fine-tuning via scalability.ini

Go into training mode and set the dummy to Repeat. Choose the strings that are fucking with you and practice blocking or avoiding them. Once you get that down, try punishing them if they can be punished (Punish will appear on the screen if you do).

Finally figured out IWS. For any other beginners struggling to do it on pad you go down, then press on forward while still pressing on down, and then right as your releasing down and moving to just forward, press the attack button. It helped me mentally to time it with the release of the down. Easy in hindsight, but just mashing out qcf's was getting me nowhere. Hope this helps someone else.

What's a simple juggle for Alisa? I've figured ones out for my other mains, like a 1 2, 1 2, 3 2 3 combo with Lili and DF 1s with Kazumi, but I can't figure out what works well with Alisa.

Pad users, DS4 specifically, how are you guys positioning your thumb on the d-pad? I'm autistic and i can't decide what's better. I feel like using the joint offers more precision and less strain, but i'm too used to #1

4 is a screw attack, if you want something simple that works even off axis.
My easy combo is this one
df+2, df+1,1, 4 S! d3,1

At 56 damage it's nowhere near the highend top combos from this launcher, but it's reliable and easy to remember/execute, since you are already holding df direction after the launcher. Also, you can just spam the commands after the launch since it doesn't require precise timing.

Back dash can be cancelled by any directional input. You don't have to cancel to db which might cause some strain on your hand due the lack of muscle motion range. Cancelling into sidesteps makes it kinda look like you're moving in a box shape. (bb~u~bb~d~bb~u...)

I absolute cannot use 2. It's uncomfortable due to the position of the index fingers on the shoulder buttons.
Though, in actual gameplay, I end up using the tip of my thumb.
