>who would do that to a car
>next is the radio

it does me great joy to see people de-rice cars

if i could, i'd make my life's mission to buy every stance car, restore them to stock, and hand their previous owners bus passes

I can’t wait to de-boomer a C5

My past project/current DD.

Current project is a 1994 NSX but it's not anywhere near as extreme.

im assuming those are just seat covers, not actually aftermarket seats

thats a hell of a difference. nothing you can do to get the bonnet to sit right?

godspeed you glorious bastard, you're doing excellent work

Here's my truck before and after. Removed the horrible wheels and got it running right as rain. Since the pic I've added LED headlights for the visibility, and a period-correct radio (there was just a hole in the dash). Under dash AC going in, trying to keep it looking mostly stock or at least period correct in the cab.

doing god's work, both you and OP

justice

yeah they were just covers.

A cut and buff could make that paint much more reflective, and wouldn't cost much if you did it yourself. It's a fairly straightforward process. If you like the patina then disregard of course.

Thanks

The front end of the chassis is ever so slightly tweaked, I had a choice between making the hood line up with the bumper or making it line up with the fenders and I picked the fenders. In the retrospect I made the wrong choice. At this point though I don't really have any desire to put more time and money into that particular chassis, it has a bunch of little things wrong with it that make it just not worth it anymore. I bought it knowing literally nothing about cars and just taught myself as I went, so a lot of stuff that seems obvious to someone familiar with cars I didn't realize until it was far too late. I'm kind of keeping one eye on Craigslist waiting for a clean shell/roller to show up for a decent price though, and if one does I'll probably buy it and swap everything over.

Just painted it so it because the old cheap paint the previous owner used was sunbaked hard the material seemed to allow water under the coat during the early morning and had a chance of rust because of the flaking. Next up is an engine overhaul and new bucket seats.

I like the patina, but it would be nice if it were perfect. Problem is I don't want to fuck up the pinstripe tape, I'm sure there's a solution to that, but it's not my #1 priority

also, might be a stupid suggestion but have you tried just putting door trim on the front of the hood so it looks like it lines up from 10ft?

www.amazon.com/dp/B001EA0LTU

Could have been a nicer colour, but it's better than the before pic.

he's gone for the wwII look ;)

I'm thinking dark orange akin to the production oranges you usually see on older VWs, since the next paint job I'll take my time unlike the current paintjob which was just to delay the rust process until I actually had a day off. Maybe even that light blue color.

Excellent, absolutely excellent work user. Proud of you.

That looks worse afterwards

Its still a shitbox and you should feel bad for restoring it, fucking nigger.

Why would you ruin your perfectly fine stock interior, if there's one thing that turns me off when buying a used car, it's interior modifications, it always ends up looking tacky and never suits the car.

Christ this looks awful

Are you getting his images mixed up? It looks way better now

you've ruined it

> after on the left
> before on the right
> small unobtrusive text so you don't even notice if you aren't paying attention

That's why everyone is getting it backwards. Before should be on the left and after should be on the right.

...except in Hebrew, which is read right to left. Are you a Hebrew user?

Holy shit, left is the after image, OP why did you place the after image on the left, are you a potato?

Lights, bullbar, bed top, 2 inch lift and more.

For a minute I thought the top photo was before, and I was getting somewhat mad that you thought those wheels were worse than the bottom photo

Good work

What engine does it have?

Her fenders were all rusted out and the paint was peeling and there were dents and scratches galore. I had to replace a bunch of parts but now she's alive and well again!!

I want to buy you a beer, great work user!

I was doing this to a poor '00 Civic Si when she got totalled

F ;_;7

OEM Toyota best for AW

M I N T

I think I need to get off Veeky Forums for a while.
I thought "hmm looks like mB's truck", and then see that it was you posting after all.

And my second car! I think the previous owner used it a lot off road and may have rallied it. Either way it was on stilts and looked like shit with the stock wheels and the roof rack. Also a good clean does a lot.

I'm very jealous user.

Very nice

Really doing God's work user

My brother! Although you should be happy they covered those original seats and kept them nice and clean for you.

Bought it wrecked. First time doing any kind of body work and buying used pieces from mexicans on craigslist.

The objectively best improvement is the air freshener.

Looks better befor the bed cap desu

Why is the handbrake in the way of the shifter?

...

Do you drive with your handbreak on?

I mean, I don't disagree - I also think it looks better without a top. If anything I'd rather want a chromed rollbar if it was for looks, but the top just makes the thing a lot more practical for me and my usage

Mid 90s photos so scanned from shitty camera snaps - the car was more tired than wrecked beforehand but it took months regardless to find all the clean parts I wanted.

Some things were close to impossible to get (the original roll-top Recaros were toast and I had to replace with the later fishnet seats) so the car ended up a mishmash of original '78 spec and later '79.

Though I'm just an american who's salty we were denied the god-tier hilux.

Do boomers modify their cars?

Nice.

Godspeed user!

Eeeeeh.... if you just get a 1995 or older Pickup and do an engine swap its really not that much different from the models up until 2005

They are a bit overhyped. Sure, they're best in class for reliability and such things, but they are also more expensive, feature less equipment and power than their competitors, and hold value stupidly well

Been trying to find a pre '95 with the 22re engine.Think im going to have to settle for 2wd drive tho as all the 4wd's have been memed out at this point bc MUH PLATFORM. Also, anything under 200,000 miles on the clock is 4000 plus burger bux

And if you wanted a Hilux and could get it mine isn't what you'd want. Either you'd go for the previous model with the super-rugged 2L diesel, simple interior, very good body clearance and huge aftermarket, or you'd go with the model that came after, which has the same 2.5 2KD-diesel as I do, but about 40hp more (which it desperately needs), or the 3 liter 1KD diesel which has over 70hp more and nearly double the torque. That model also has tons of aftermarket

Mine lands in the somewhat retarded middle spot - I have great ground clearance, and more power stock than the previous model - but its still a bit expensive for what you get, plus the enigne was their first commonrail diesel, and the jets can go to hell at any moment

That much, huh?

This one here is $4000 in norwegian socialist pennies, and really not that badly priced if its as the ad says (decent condition with no dangerous rust on the frame, inspections done and with everything working - but I'd imagine its a hefty price in the US where car prices are generally a lot lower than they are here

simmer down stupid

A guy came to our body shop and offered us this one as part payment - it had been sitting in his driveway since being written off (front chassis bent and inner sill split - insurance verdict was "uneconomical to repair") and I bought it from him.

Needed a new engine block too since it had sat through two winters with no anti-freeze and the coolant had cracked the block, heater matrix too.

Had it a year and it got T-boned again by some dumb fuck at a junction (broke GF's arm and I cracked my cheekbone from smacking into the B pillar) and at that point it was decided the fucking thing was cursed and into the trash it went - never had a red car since.

1500 cc, plan on swapping something crazy like a 2000cc or subie engine in it next year

...

...

...

I don't really like the oversized rear tires, but you picked the right rim size.

sexy

That is some rescue there, just amazing.

My montage is a beat cheating, as the newer pics are much higher def and quality, but that's all I have

god bless you, anons.
>checked

Fuck you and your gorgeous Rolla wagon.

Love it, we never got the diesels in the us. I can deal with the low hp as long as it has some torque. Bare bones interior is what i like too. Dont care much for aftermarket as long as good quality oem parts are availible.
Thats really nice. probably be around 6k in the u.s. This is due to the Chicken Tax which taxed imported trucks in the 80's and 90's 25%. This makes them rarer compared to the shit tier us made small trucks.

I'd kill for a diesel toyo truck. Luckily, there are several 25 year old importers who import the land cruiser 70 series. A pristine low mileage diesel can be had for around 15-20k so i think my best bet is saving up for that.
Also, thanks MightyB for always being up for talking some hilux.

Salvage title WRX, $3800, drove home (just two blocks from the local CoPart) perfectly after just a jump and some 91.

Now, waiting on the salvage title in my name to get back to me from the DMV, then its right back there with all my paperwork showing the rebuid is complete, and ready to rebuild the title. Just in time for the winter

call me a faggot, but I prefer the look of the top one

Ah shit, I should have added another pic, it's a hatchback.

Thanks though.

Why tf would you keep those disgusting wheels

Was that price after all the BS copart adds in? I was looking at cars on copart but all their fees don't make it worth it

I wish I had taken photos of the interior when I bought the car. The owner threw in every shitty chrome interior part he could could find on LMR/American Muscle/etc.

-Billet shift knob that hurt to touch
-Billet parking brake handle that looked like a giant ribbed dildo
-Billet radio and headlight knobs
-Billet HVAC knobs that fell off
-Billet window/lock switches that got stuck
-Billet door handles that rubbed and one was broken
-FORD TRUCK rubber floormats
-Various stick-on accessories that were half falling off
-Broken window vents
-French friends and loose change everything

I replaced most things with used stock parts, went with a few aftermarket new bits, and found leather Cobra shift knob and parking brake handle.

On the outside, he also stuck on a big aftermarket air dam, a janky chrome fuel door, rain guards, and some other graphic stuff. Plus the trim was falling off and the headlights were cracked.

>Before

I yanked the bumper cover and put on a Mach 1 chin spoiler, fixed all the trim, replaced the headlights and 3rd brake light, replaced the fuel door, and got rid of the stick-on crap.

>Japanese car owners can't resist fucking up their cars

Looking good now.

Also why are people obsessed with chrome interior parts? They look really out of place in cars that aren't meant to have them.

t. never driven stick

Yeah, only driven like 150k km with stick.

Still a retarded place to put the handbrake, now you can't lean on it.

opened the 'after' in MS paint first and couldn't be fucked switching them around. just assumed everyone could read. my bad ;)

pic related is my other aw11 before and after interior shot, this time, before is on the left, after on the right.

i should add, i swapped all the ugly bits from my white sc into that grey n/a so now the grey n/a is ugly as fuck. kek

Maybe the handbrake is ON.

doesn't get in the way in the slightest.

the aw11 has such great ergonomics. comfy as fuck

It's boring and cliché

This thread is giving me some inspiration to fix my 1997 Toyota Celica ST 5spd 1.8l

Mechanical Issues:
>popping passenger side CV axle
>burns oil due to notorious 7A-FE oil ring failure and bad valve seals (thinking of doing a full rebuild)
>brass bushings in the end of the shifter linkages are worn giving me a slightly floppy stick
>needs new rotors, pads, drums and shoes

Cosmetic Issue:
>clear coat on most of car has peeled away ruining the paint (It's Silver btw)
>various specks of surface rust where rocks have chipped the paint
>pulled OEM alloy wheels to repaint due to failed clear coat
>seals in headlights have failed allowing moisture into the headlights causing it to rust
>various scrapes and dings
>a few dents that will need to be bondo'd
>a couple interior stains and the door for the fuse box won't go back on for some stupid reason

Things that have been fixed:
>brand new OEM clutch, spring, and throwout bearing
>front and rear crank seals
>front and rear cam seals
>new distributor rotor and distributor cap
>new spark plugs
>new air filter
>new belts
>brand new alternator

Should I go for it?

its cheap and easy too. which is probably what he was going for since he just wanted to cover the terrible before.

Looked like ass. Here's all the shit I pulled off.

Imported her from Japan almost 4 years ago, been my daily driver since and just slowly modified her whenever I had some extra cash.

Replaced the horrible body kit with a clean TwinZ design kit and trd wing, had a closed door respray in the same factory colour, Bought some SSR Professor SP1 wheels in 19x9.5 and 19x11.5 and had her converted from factory twins to a single turbo.

YOU SAVED A LIFE

how hard was it to swap the steering wheel from left side to right side?

He just welded in a new firewall.

Out of all cars you decided to put effort into that?? At least you got an nsx

HAHAHA nice try poserfag

The old pic is just mirrored so it matched the updated one, surprised you didn't noticed the turtle on the dash in both pics too?

I also change the Taillights, aux cord, and added a second 12V auxiliary power outlet.
I was thinking of added new headers to increase the horsepower, but at the same time I don't want to since it's a 325i, and it's not that fast to begin with.

>aux cord
Where did you route yours to?

My current project is a 1989 Mitsubishi Colt, I recently super cleaned all the stains inside the vehicle, removed the subs, extra speakers, removed all the stickers, changed the whole suspension, got new tires.

Now I plan on fixing the rust spots/body, removing the carbon fiber wrap/plastidip and repainting the car to look stock.

Besides that, it's got a 4G63T and everything mechanical is solid. Not bad for $800, but I still have some work to do.

Straight out of the right side of the center console.
I pulled the plastic lightly, and slide the cable through.

wtf what a cute car.

She's lovely Bruce, keep it up

Very nice user, love this fucking car.

...

I did the same, but added some gobs of hot glue on the back of the stereo to have proper strain relief.
