Right. The gem ratings and primary/secondary effects all follow guidelines, and cannot go higher than the established limits (rating 20).
For example, Tempering gems in the Watcher table can technically go up to 28.1% (rating 20), but because rating 20 gems can only be dropped by L3/L4 bosses, you can only go up to 27.2%.

I was rolling an Ihyll yesterday and found one of those big ass hallway center chambers with two of the tall gunners, each with two of those batshit dogs, two hemwick witches, and a sackman.
I have never left and taken down a chalice so quickly.

Hunters axe or Cleaver should work. Amyarm has almost pure STR scaling IIRC.

50/50 quality is better for literally every dual stat scaling weapon in the game, as well as the pure skill scaling ones like rakuyo and BoM get better wheb str scaling is added with heavy abyssals at those stats. There's no reason to have separate str/skl/quality builds unless you're trying to maintain characters at lower ranges

In L1 of my chalice we have a lost burial blade on pre lantern area and an oedeon writhe rune on the pre boss area.
