I want to get into FE. I've only played a couple tactical RPGs, so I don't think I have the patience for super-nuanced mechanics, like matchmaking in Awakening. However, I want to "get" FE; I want to experience for myself why this series has its fans. From what I've read, either Blazing Sword or Sacred Stones sound like the best fit, but I'm open to suggestions. Where should I start?

Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones are both solid. Start with the former, then later, and try playing through both routes for SS if you can/have fun with it. They're good classics

Pretty normal. I spent 130 for tiny hands and 150 for Ike. I got neither and got a bunch of shitty units. I got a bunch of shitty versions of meta units, -attack +speed Celica,-defense +res Hector, etc worst IVs you could get. Just use GHB units and optimal mid tier and you can last for the life time off of free units.
