Check to see if you can mutate it in the velvet room. I don't know if starter Persona are eligible for that. But if it's not a new ability then that's the only other thing I can think of.

Whenever you go dungeon crawling, the exit is already there. Wouldn't it make sense for Teddie to make it when you're leaving, if he had to make the exit each time you used it?
