You know, real talk, I really feel like they wrote the whole thing pretty badly.

Like I wanted to see two things: I wanted way more emotion from both of them, or at least the female Inquisitor. There's no "I loved you!" kind of dialogue. It's written like he was an acquaintance and the whole thing is just really inconvenient.
The other thing I wanted was the option to explicitly ask and clarify whether or not he knew that dude's family was there.

Instead it's "I did thing! (even though I really only gave the order, but I assume full responsibility like a decent person should)" and your only responses as Inquisitor are "Ok" or "Not okay".

It's really annoying.

Conscripting the mages would also keep the status quo for the most part. You can always make more templars, whereas you can only get more mages through birth.

Qunari sew their mages' mouths shut, cut out their tongues, and treat them more like living weapons than people, so they just sit around festering until they explode. And that's if you're qunari - if you're not and you convert, then they mindbreak you and put you to work doing hard labor for the rest of your life. Some cultures might not have problems with mages (the only one I can think of that apparently handles them with zero trouble is Rivain, but they're a borderline-caricature hippie commune), but the Qun is not one of them.

I remember Gaider mentioned wanting to make the templars more sympathetic than they seem at first glance, though where Weekes will go with that is anyone's guess.

For the next OP just take "Dragon Age" out of the title.

You can't really make the templars sympathetic and then whip out the Kirkwall Circle with rape, harassment, tranquility against Chantry law and murder.

Designing Meredith like a Lawful Good person and Orsino in a first draft like a Disney villain doesn't help either.

WEWH is surprisingly boring for a mission that's all about court intrigue, but it's not so hard to power through it. What part are you dreading, user?

The entire thing. I have completionist OCD so I can't accept anything less than a perfect run, collective everything and selecting all the right dialogue, etc.

Once you know how to raise approval with the court, it's pretty easy to rush thru.
