Why? Just have EVERY car on the road connected to the grid, with no human controls at all, and you just subscribe to a transport service. Pay a monthly fee and at any point in time you can call for a personal transport pod through your phone, the nearest unoccupied transport pod will be dispatched to your current location and take you to your destination while you're free to do literally anything else.
Now of course, you may be worried about vandalism, and people that used the transport pod before you leaving their mess behind in it. Fear not, it'll have cameras monitoring everything that's going on inside and around it, and the second an infraction of the terms of service is detected it'll stop, eject the current occupant and return to its service station in order to get cleaned up.
This is the future and it's objectively best for everyone involved.

ive been driving for 8 years, i own 3 cars 2 of which are project vehicles 1 of which is standard trans, but im certainly not jaded enough to not see what's coming. taking people out of the driver's seat is ONLY a good thing, there are literally zero downsides, your car and its computers will be MUCH BETTER than you or anyone else at driving, it can see things you can't see with radar technology and whatnot, a million all-seeing eyes constantly alert and aware... our hobby will be relegated to "recreational areas". all those teen driver deaths? no more. all those trucker fails? no more. all those retards racing around with a death wish? no more. just hop in and enjoy the ride.
