i'd recommend alchemy + enchanting for max gold making. make an alt with herbalism so you don't have to buy them off the AH if you want.

Grievous Gladiators' Dreadplate will always be a favorite of mine. I love the sort of smeared white warpaint over the visor and dehumanized look it has. Probably depends on race though. I'd say it works on Humans, Orcs, Undead, etc. the best.
