Which shift knob style does Veeky Forums prefer?

Ones that require an overhand grip (horizontal), or ones that require a pistol grip (vertically, like you're jerking off)?

...

Whatever the car comes with stock.

I was never into the aftermarket shift knob or steering wheel trend.

All manufacturers spend millions on ergonomic designs that work perfectly well. Why replace that with a 20 "Type R" shifter from ebay that was designed by some idiot in china?

The gearbox matters more than a shift knob.

The one the buses use.

Pistol.
I can grip it like a cock for quick 1-2 or 3-4, and then palm it for a 4-3, then cock grip it again for a 3-2.

...

Both

I like the look of ball knobs, but pistol shifter has a better in hand feeling

Not all cars come with perfect shift knobs. Mine was way too light, make every shift notchy. Once I got a heavier one everything was buttery smooth. The slightly shorter throws from it being shorter was nice too.

Not every aftermarket shift knob has to be ricer shit. There are nice simple ones out there.

I prefer the walking stick, or microphone

...

I don't get it. Please explain the joke.

I laughed at this stupid shit, brb killing myself

It just feels right

Newfag

This style, not that anyone but muh race cars actually have them, sadly.

Pistol grip only makes sense if you are extending the knob up 4-5 inches, otherwise it's an awkward if not painful position to out your wrist in. R'ing pic of the jet fighter stick mod for comparison.

I unironically think the most awesome shifter ever is pic related.
For a manual though, I prefer ones I can rest my hand on when driving.
Just a factory roundish one.
Most comfy I had was in a shitbox eg6.
Worst was some aftermarket shit in a skyrine.

>he fell for the "OE is always perfect" meme

whatever this one is, seems like a hybrid of the two

I recognise this knob

>
It's from the GTI crica 2009

Pistol grip. I would like a steel ball shifter but I can’t find one big enough for my hand

isn't this a honda shifter?

tfw never grab the shifter, just glide it with the palm of my hand
