FUCKING DO IT, FAGGOT.

No seriously, wishing you all the luck that you can do this shit and I'd appreciate it if you could share some WIPs here in case you really pull this through.

Oh no worries, if it happens you guys will be the first to know.

Honest question here: Are all Twingo posts on Veeky Forums ironic or do Americans not realize this car has disposable status, like A Geo Metro or a Chevy Cavalier would in the US?

Veeky Forums loves the Geo Metro for many of the same reasons. They're dead simple, light, great on gas and cost fuckall to buy, run and maintain.
Top tier shitbox for 500 eurobucks.

>tfw there is only one on UK ebay

That is actually a pretty good price considering what others have been up for

Interior looks mint, and that's not a lot of miles either.
LHD only though, which is probably annoying in the UK.

Amerifat here

How much would a decent Twingo go for?

like rust free and clean interior/exterior with everything in working order?

Also do all Twingo interiors look like this or is it a certain trim/year?

Like €600-800? €1k would get you a mint condition loaded one, potentially a 16V.

That's the early interior, post-'99 ones look more like pic related.

how much are the import taxes from euorkuckland to here?

inb4 tons of jewtube content "I'm LS swaping my Twingo!"

>implying youtubers know about the twingo

its not an R32 GT-R lad

Pushrod V8 swap has been done already. By the French, no less.

Probably depends on your state, check with your local vehicle importer.

Some people even love the Metro.
See, most modern cars are stuffed with electronics and look like they fucking hate you.

This shitbox looks like it's fucking happy to see you again, eager to go for a ride with you.
That's literally it.

And it's got some pretty cool options compared to other shitboxes, like the full cloth or glass sunroof and smart as fuck interior.

>This shitbox looks like it's fucking happy to see you again, eager to go for a ride with you.

so it turns out all twingo enthusiasts on Veeky Forums just kinda feel lonely deep inside

Breaking News: the Twingo restock is shipping from China to Switzerland in two weeks, so expect blue, new harlequin, white and black within at most two months to be available!

>harlequin
inb4 sold out in 5 minutes again

Keep us updated, I'm getting one this time. I swear on me mum

And Billy Gibbons, lead vocalist of ZZ Top drives one.

He's not a big guy

Purple when?

pre-facelift:
1993-1994 green buttons and knobs
1995-1996 dark blue buttons and knobs
1997-early1998 gret buttons and knobs
post facelift:
1998-2000
banana buttons and knobs
2001+
dunno exactly but there were red, blue, grey, black and green
each period had unique upholstery pattern

Im totally getting the 2 new colors and the new harlequin to go with the others.

Hows progress on the miata?

...

It's getting there. Next sample is with updated windscreen (should look less like a cap/sunvisor) and prints/embroidery.

Wew that does not look as good as a twingo

Twingo has a much more plushie-friendly shape.

That's the crux, yes. Curious to see about the version that has prints and embroidery, plus the updated front window.

Any anons know how to import a Twingo 1 to the US? Any websites?

This may sound mad, but try JDM importers. Twingos were never originally sold in Japan but people did import them, and if they went through the trouble of importing a car all the way from Europe you can be damn sure they took care of it.

kill me, but i kinda like it.

This.

There are like a fucking handful of 1993 Twingos left that aren't kicked to pulp by now in the entirety of Europe.
That car has been used as oneway shitbox since day one so every time you actually see a mint MK1 Twingo it's a rarity.

The Japanese usually take care of their imports.

>tfw will never import a japanese import turd gen camaro in mint condition

>The Japanese usually take care of their imports.

...

I pine for a decent condition Geo all the time, and I live in the U.S. You mention that they are disposable, which is ironic, because given the simplicity of the car makes it far from disposable. Modern cars are disposable, critical components are so crazy expensive that they can easily total the car. Where-as something simple like a Twingo/Geo Metro? Fuck, it's crazy easy to fix/replace yourself.

That's the charm really, having a shitbox you don't have to obsess over, something you know will turn on and drive without all of the modern bullshit and if it ever does have a day where it doesn't work, it's never hard to make it work again.

...

...

>tfw I have an OG Harlequin

P/o/orfags, pls set up a gofundme to import a Twingo. I'd donate $50 if project pics are posted.

>not assuming half the reason we like Twingos is because they are a cute

Merci Twingo hnnnnngh take me back to the 90s

Fuck no.

Gofundmes setup especially on imageboards 99% of the time turn out to be scams.

Create a fanclub, stay in contact with the group and plan things together AND THEN dish out the money and get things done together after everything got planned out the right way.

I kind of see getting a Twingo the equivalent of getting a dog- both will always greet you with enthusiasm no matter the mood.

...

dang make it more chubby please.

wew finally

>82 days

this pic is almost a decade old

why people would want the shit is beyond me

>stop liking what I don't like

didnt say you couldnt like youre piece of garbage meme car dipshit

whiny fags every where

i wonder if this car is still around illinois or if its in a junkyard at this point

So why did you feel the need to barge in and whine about people liking an honest, basic shitbox?

yes user

asking why someone would like a run of the mill shitbox (that 99% of people on Veeky Forums only know about because of memes) and would pay more than they should for it is whining

Do you seriously think people don't know it's a shitbox? It's literally right there in the first few posts.

It's like you're purposely posting shit just to start shit in any thread you post in.

not really youre the one starting shit

all I said was I dont understand why someone would be excited for a Twingo

especially in America

>all I said was I dont understand why someone would be excited for a Twingo
...In a thread specifically about the Twingo. You're effectively calling the entire thread a bunch of idiots.

Oh no, someone on the internet doesn't validate my opinion

Get over it, faggot

smart people can make stupid decisions and its not like cars are the most rational hobby or anything

just that other than the meme status it isnt really worth the money youd spend importing it imo

I guess if you want that speshul snowflake status you just dont get from a Metro

>Only 82 days until Americans are allowed to drive Twingos
Non-amerifag here. Why amerifags are not allowed to drive it now?

25 year import law

I always wondered if it'd be possible to put a dorito spinner in one. It'd be amusing to see a Twingo with that stupid face flying down the street going BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP BRAP BRAP BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP at 7K+ RPM.

Shouldn't be too hard size-wise, you'd just have to fab up custom mounts for everything and make an adapter for the gearbox.
Also figure out the oiling systen because most rotaries were never intended for transverse applications.

Hey hey hey
Fuck you, I like the Cavalier

The NSU RO 80 was the first ever mass produced rotary car, and it was FWD. The two test cars before it by Citroen (M35 and GS Birotor) were also FWD.

>live in the land of v8
>buy a twingo
Yeah I'm calling all of you in this thread, idiots.

Can you turbo the D4F by itself or do you have to get the TCe engine and swap it in? Basically what I'm wondering is if you can build a D4F for boost and how costly is it?

They all had longitudinal engines though.

TCe has different (stronger) internals and a new head, but the block is the same.

What's the difference between the TCe head and the D4F head? Can you get over 200hp out of it if you build it for boost?

Swagalier lmao

I'd just take the D4FT and drop it right in, like some other user wants to do

Not entirely sure what the difference between the heads is, but I know you need forged internals even on the TCe if you wanna hit 200hp, along with bigger injectors, manifolds, intercooler, and potentially a bigger turbo.
The stock TCe internals are good for up to ~170hp, which also requires bigger injectors than stock.

why did I laugh to this

How much do they run? How much do Twingeaux internals go for?
>overnight parts from France
Hon hon

You can probably pull one from a wrecked Duster, Captur, Clio or Twingo GT for a few hundred, internals are probably pretty expensive because not that many people build these engines for relatively big power. If you're really serious you might have to get them custom made.

>IF you're serious
I'm always serious when I'm talking 200hp twingos

ITT: Gay Niggaz

Forgot to mention, the stock JB1/JH1 transmission won't hold much more torque than the stock 16V puts out, and definitely won't be able to cope with any highly boosted engine. You'll also need at least a JB3/JH3 gearbox to prevent blown trannies.

NIGGA U GAY
WE TALKING TWINGOS HERE

How much do the JH3 boxes run for?

...

Shouldn't be too much, either they come with the engine from the wrecked donor or you rip one out of a Clio (or just about any 5-speed FWD Renault, really). They're common as fuck.

Main problem I see is getting some gauge faces in MPH

>transverse applications

>putting a 13b in a twingo
>not doing a RWD conversion

bruh

That'd be a lot of work, but tons of snap oversteery fun.

I hope you realize that because of the cult following, these things are gonna cost a fuckton to import because fanboys are fucking retarded.

It'll be the AE86 all over again.

But unlike the A-Meme-86, it won't be driven to near-extinction.

It would have looked better as a hardtop or soft top desu

I want to make (read: brainstorm) a story similar to Initial D, but with a different assortment of cars. One of the main cars (but not belong to the MC) would be a Twingo, but since the stock Twingo is very slow, I was thinking that maybe the current owner unwillingly bought an engine swapped one and wasn't aware of it until it was taken for repairs. So my question is, what would've been a reasonable engine swap that would also result in a faster car? I see all sorts of engine swap options here, I'm just looking for one that balances the best between affordable, easy, and fast; it would be too silly to make it use the Renault 5 Turbo engine when those are very limited production engines, but they do bolt right in.

The 1.4 turbo was far from exclusive to the 5 Turbo, and it's a direct bolt-in swap for the early Twingos. It can also make over 200hp relatively easily.
Other options include an F-series swap (Clio Williams or RS, Volvo 480 Turbo) or D4FT as discussed a few posts back, depending on the time period.

Isn't the car inspection thing really lax in the states?
You could probably easily just install an aftermarket tach or even connect the original display to a raspberry pie that could even give you GPS numbers with 60FPS refresh rates

clown puke fabric patterns get me going

I know a guy who took a twingo down a hill at 170kmph.

Did he survive?

Psh, weak.

How does one buy a Twingo in the USA?

>170000 mph
HORY SHEEEEEET
