if it was sun on a stick they probably would've addressed it in the scout updates

The big thing I didn't like about the dead ringer is that if you drop the cloak you keep the buffs from the dead ringer. Speed buff and afterburn. It's annoying to see it used as just a giant middle finger to pyros.

That would be interesting. Would make people jumping around with the rocket jumper basically have free jumps all the time though. I'm not quite sure how it would work out.

that's literally the opposite of what should be done(or what Valve wants do to, for that matter)

yeah well valve wants to make rng the ultimate decider to whether or not the crosshair is actually accurate so i dont give a shit. using weapons like beggars bazooka is the most infuriating shit, i dont care if i can risk my balls deleting a heavy around a corner 2 feet away i cant do shit against a sentry outside of it's range of effectiveness. point being i don't think making the weapon more inaccurate is good balancing, they have not removed the ability to get headshots, its just now if you get headshot across the map you will feel like you are being fucked over by rng and not just a poor unlock

I see what you are saying. Perhaps giving the abby a range were the headshots simply don't work anymore. Though this may be hard to telegraph to the player if someone is in effective range for a headshot.

what about nothing but minicrits on headshots? surely having no damage falloff would be a pretty big deal in itself without seeming absolutely bullshit

that would make it less annoying, but it would also make it way worse than the other revolvers
what they should do is simply add damage fall-off, so if you are at close range it deals 102 damage but if they are at the other side of the map it deals way less

minicrits with enough damage to still 2 shot a sniper might be interesting to use.

In all honesty even if it wasn't overpowered I just found excruciatingly frustrating to go against. My autism forbids me from letting an obvious DR spy live because I know he'll come back and get me when I'm not paying attention or he'll just annoying and kill some poor schlomo on my team. If a shitty spy is being obvious coming up behind me I wanna punish him for it by killing him, but instead he just feigns and fucks off only to come after 10 seconds to annoy me again leaving me overly paranoid or I have to waste my time chasing him down making sure he's dead. Shit's annoying and I hate it so much. But really I'm just one autistic fuck.

The real issue is that fall-off is the actual game mechanic for dealing with distance. They should make the Amby headshots deal damage based on distance and double it, instance of making it crit.

What do you propose they do?

For the Ambassador, beyond a certain distance of hammer units, critical headshots become mini-crit headshots.

For Snipers, the reverse. Headshots are mini-crit headshots unless past a certain distance of hammer units.

spy is beyond underpowered though, he's straight up outclassed.

there is no hypocricy, sniper is not effective at close range. he CAN hit headshots at close range, after he zooms and accurately tracks with 20 fov, and you know what, even after this nerf the ambassador CAN still hit headshots at long range. theres no hypocrisy in that because they never said they didn't want sniper to have options at close range, but they did say they didn't want spies to have options at far range.

The shotguns are getting revamped with the panic attack actually being good now
The mantreads are good because you can bomb medics much easier, scouts don't push you back and you can move at weird angles

Why would a pocket run a buff banner or a battalion's backup? Are they doomed to just being pub weapons?

if they ship the update like this, the amby is dead, a non perfectly accurate gun will never be able to headshot in this game.
DR will still be usable sometimes, but since it takes 20 fucking seconds to recharge with no way to speed it up except etranger/big kill, i'd see the % of spies using it drop by at least 60%

it does suck, they could at least:

They are trying to discourage predictable pickup behaviors. If they made it like you suggest, all the gibus spies would just die on the way to ammo packs, even though they aren't really worth it.
