I can't. They keep getting in the way of my aim because ubisoft is too stupid to make them fade out when you ADS in their direction.

jackal is proof that in order to actually make an SMG a viable attacker primary you need a fuckhuge magazine, an ACOG with lightspeed ADS time and ridiculously tight hipfire

Either would be an interesting change, but I'd prefer the first, as Hibana's currently the only 3-speed attacker with a Shotgun, and that should still be a viable loudout to try without going Recruit.

shotguns are a meme on attack regardless of which one you use, its only somewhat viable on house but you are just better off using an AR 19 times out of 20.

smoke can get away with shotgun on every map since he has the mac11 and shotgun is a good renovation tool.

Caveira's SMG is amazing, it's the one SMG along with Frost's that can take the heavy barrel and still remain recoilless. What exactly don't you like about it? I swear, 90% of these "X weapons are useless and terrible and should never be chosen" are from butthurt dudes who failed with the weapon once and never chose it again. Like all the people who keep whining about how the FMG 9 is "literally useless" and that it has no purpose being in the game, yet they also hail the MPX which has lower damage, and a minuscule difference in ROF

You can make shotguns work just about anywhere, but you really need to play around the range weakness at all times and think several steps ahead, and even then, the moment you lose control of the engagement or get a single stroke of bad luck, you're fucked.
Shotguns can be strong, but in 90% of cases they're more trouble than they're worth. Especially with how inconsistent even "good" shotguns can be.

Yeah, Hibana's function is definitely different: It's long range. Totally a sidegrade and not an improvement.

Unless you specifically need Thermite's massive holes, Hibana is the preferable choice. Almost everything in her kit is ripped straight from the top of the meta tier list. (Light armor, high RoF primary, machine pistol secondary, multifunctional gadget)

Pair up with a teammate

Whenever I do point defense I always end up feeling like I'm just waiting around to get killed (and I'm usually right). What can I be doing differently to feel like I'm actually making it more difficult for the attackers and not just bent over with my eyes closed in whatever spot im in. I dont try to take stupid peak fights or let myself get baited into chasing attackers, and i use the cameras when I can. But most of the time I just feel ineffective

The mpx doesn't even have high ROF, it's still considered subpar for an SMG, people like it because it's a manageable weapon

WRONG, the SMG11 has a different purpose, it's useless for anything asides from 1v1 encounters, also it has 3 mags and it goes through them in 1 second each. The FMG 9 is okay for long distance encounters

I use him on PC at times but don't do as well, when i play on console with my pals they just run circles round the enemies killing them while I give them all headaches

The problem with point defense is it only works out if:
1) You have a distinct advantage over any enemy on the entry point you're watching, so that you can ensure that you're the one that will get the shot off first (You're hidden well enough, or you're using a pixel-peek/reactive peek)
2) Any other entry points that you can't cover, but could threaten you, are covered by other means or people

If you can't ensure both of those things, you're essentially gambling on luck by point defending, and you should reposition if possible. If you can't ensure either of them anymore, the time for sitting still is definitely over, and it's probably better to retreat, or make a risky play.

I don't have enough crayons to explain this to you in detail, but basically, the Extended Barrel only makes a difference at ranges where you absolutely need to have an ACOG to even see what you're shooting at, and even then the difference is like 1 shot to kill.

Ubisoft shitcanned the singleplayer/bot component early on, so all we get is thrown-together leftovers. They just gave them whatever they had ready at the time.

How would this impact echo though? I main Echo and flip flop between the shotgun and mp5 depending on the map, so would echo have the mp5 and bearing if you removed the shotgun? Or would he just suddenly not have the bearing? Cause that would be devastating.

There's no reason loadout changes to Hibana would effect Echo. Recruits have Smokes and Breaches as Primary Gadgets, while for normal chracters they're Secondary Gadgets, so they could (for example) make Bearing-9 a Primary Weapon for Hibana and keep it as a Secondary Weapon for Echo.

Put it in really really dumb spots. Stupidity works to your advantage.

Place it behind you so they can't flank you without being obvious, or place it in front of you and then pretend to retreat to coax someone into walking into it.

Put it in front of a door that roamers are going to barrel through whenever you begin securing/defusing/extracting the objective

Place it so that the middle beam is covering the doorway fat enough back so that they cant shoot it from their side. If the door is closed off then place it faceing directly at the door so when they rip it down to kill you, they blow up.

It almost makes me wish they'd either do away with optics on all side arms or offer sometime less intrusive on normal pistols
