It's no different that driving a sports car and never taking it to a track or taking it to the limit. Even if you don't tow or go off road they're still more practical for families than a sedan.

I have two kids. You can't fit them in a car with two rows if their friends come along. long road trips are substantially more comfortable. Hauling sports gear is easier. When we take the boat out I can just hook it up to the suv. There's a million reasons why they're popular for people with kids.

You have a lot of reasons to use an SUV or whatever big vehicle you own. You tow and regularly haul kids with their friends. I'm talking about the people who just buy it out of image. Yes they buy them because they can but when an accident occurs it's mostly a bigger SUV crashing into a smaller eco sedan and mostly killing everyone up while the driver of the SUV is alright with mild physical pains.

I still stand to my point that a normal sedan is quite very enough for a 4 member family. Anything higher in number can actually use a minivan because they are family vehicles.

With the kennel in the back, mid sized SUVs have no room. Sometimes I haul a bunch of kids, so I like have the third row. All the kids have gear on top of my gear + buckets of baseballs. So we got a giant pigfat VW Atlas. It's fucking awesome.

My wife is looking at getting one of these. We randomly saw one on the road here in Colorado and both thought they looked great and reasonably priced for what they are. She originally wanted the newer Tahoe but I don't want to spend 50+ on a car. I know it sounds petty I won't bump up that extra 10 grand but I figure the Tahoe is priced at 50-55 I can expect to pay 5 in taxes and dealer fees so id be looking at 60k+ reality.

And another thing occurred which really hurt visibility as sedans had their A and C pillars re-designed to be more horizontal to prevent the heavy SUV inertia from squishing the sedan like an accordion. That wrecked visibility.
