Anyone here have one?

I had the same engine in a custom frame (shadow), quite fun to use. One of my mates had one, travelled through the whole country, bike was fully packed whith his gf and camping gear, never had any problems.

t. CB A friend of mine inherited a crashed r90gs/6 (his exact specification) I'm egging him on to rebuild it since it only has fairing and fork damage Would it be an ok first bike? And if it isn't would he be able to resell it to some hipster?
Eli Diaz
>r90gs/6
What?
Isaiah Butler
Reposting because it actually got some discussion last time:
What is the best (Yuro-)city commuter bike (not a scooter)? >Low weight >Flickable >Good MPG >Decent power, for those stoplight drags >Reliable & easy to maintain >No fairings to get broken Bonus points if it's cheap.
Hunter Barnes
Striple or shiver/dorsoduro
Evan Nguyen
cb 500 f, its so much fun in cities
Michael Cruz
striple
hit all those criteria on the mark. Except maybe mpg. I get 15 k/ml out of a 1050 triple. That's about 35 mpg.
Henry Torres
I have no idea It's a bimmer, it's shaft drive and I assume it has 900cc The /6 I think is about trims Don't actually get a shivvy or a spipple
Sebastian Morris
>R Means it's a longitudinal boxer twin with shaft drive. >90 Means it's about 900cc. >GS Means ''GeländeSport'', basically BMW's ADV lineup. >/6 Means it's the sixth generation of R series bikes.
>tfw waiting on qt to fix her fucking bike so we can ride + coffee REEE
Gavin Harris
Seems like shiver is the closest one. It is a bit heavy but most of the weight is low so you don't feel it.
Striple is a better bike to ride but a lot more expensive and not as reliable.
Lincoln Martin
Why does dbt prefer shitty bikes
Jack Hughes
CB 500 fits all those points. EFI might be helpful with reliability but honestly if you're too much of a pussy to work on 2 carbs you might as well kys your self
Nicholas Murphy
One thing I'm doubtful It doesn't have the memelever front spring Is it by design or has it lost it in the crash?
Ethan Hall
CB 500 F a fat. CBF 500 barely a tolerable CB 500 a most flickable and a lightest. Also cheapest.
Jonathan Hall
>falling for the 250/300 meme Enjoy having no torque, no highway ability, no passing power, no passenger carrying ability, not being able to travel long distances, shitty budget components, not learning throttle control, less reliability from constantly stressing the engine, and getting bored of the bike within 2 months
650cc twins are the ideal starter bikes, prove me wrong

Do it yourself and buy a dzus kit bolt and install it while you're at it
Elijah Bell
It's actually pretty easy to cut weight from the shiver The stock frying pan alone weighs in excess of 10kgs

Why naked bikes and not a sumo? Because of the high centre of gravity? I guess a 250 sumo can braaaap up to city speeds fairly quick

>frame sliders already ground down. not scuffed, ground. >has the good ol' "i broke the stock ones" ebay flush mount turn signals
Something tells me either you already crashed or the last guy to own it did, that's a chinese fairing kit, and there's a hairline crack somewhere in the frame from those dumb sliders.
Adrian Cruz
Even buying a prope bike right off the bat instead of a "dude gotta buy a used 600 or I'll die and not afford it" meme
Joshua Martin
Tons of restricted CB500s around if you're worried about EU licence restrictions. Weight like I said is the best out of the three naked 500s from Honda. Engine is the same as in the CBF. I haven't ridden a CB 500 F yet but I can't imagine its engine being much more interesting. It, too, is a 500cc 180° ptwin.
Liam Nelson
>buying a proper bike right off the bat
I wouldn't recommend buying an S1000RR, speed triple, or ducati 1199 right off the bat but whatever. You do you. Just don't make an insurance claim so my rates won't go up.

Why can't they make cruisers as fast as sports bikes?

Bentley Martinez
Sportbikes are designed like that for function, not sure why you think its like seeing an adult emo.
If anything, cruisers fit that description better.
Aiden Brown
Read it all, don't know what you mean
Cruisers aren't meant to handle as good They have retarded geometry and a rear biased weight distribution which makes them unstable at high speed and unpredictable mid corner
Nicholas Barnes
Cruisers are pretty practical transport though...once you switch to mid controls. Forward controls are cancer and make bikes less ridable.
Alexander Jones
Nah ADV bikes are better at that
Zachary Perez
not nip cruisers. nip cruisers are just standards with lower seats.
Wyatt Miller
how can i downvote this
Joshua Bailey
I filter him It works just fine
Christian Nguyen
nah sportbikes with ape hangers, highway bars, comfort seats, and touring luggage are the ultimate bikes
lighweight, superior speed, stability, handling, and brakes, cargo capacity of a goldwing, comfort of a lazyboy
they're called "couch rockets"
Angel Ross
What bikes are you talking about?
Just browsing honda at the minute, found this Honda CMX500 Rebel, looks good. Except I'd want a pillion seat too and luggage racks.
Hunter Edwards
>ape hangers What's actually the point of these? They both look and feel like trash.
Ryan Wilson
>I'm a bitch and can't handle difficult to ride bikes
Jayden Hall
Customized bikes.
Bike companies don't know what you want.
>unstable >difficult to ride They crash themselves without warning or they don't. That's about it.
Justin Johnson
Nope If anything they're standards with wider rake and trail Which guess what makes them worse for handling
Adam Perry
>ape hangers :^)
I don't like the sports bike look, though. Even if you put cruiser seats and handle bars on them.
Easton Nguyen
I get it you need the Easiest cheapest scooter

Yes I know how BMW names their bikes. Thing is, I've never heard about a R90GS, only the R80G/S, R100GS, R1100 and so on.
Also, by the time BMW introduced the G/S, the '/*' was (mostly) dropped.

i use this type of method all the time and it works fine just careful not to spill the bag
basically its just a durable plastic bag with a hole poked in and the cable secured and sealed by rubber band or something. i spray wd40 in it first to clean the gunk then when it's finished flowing out, blast a little compressed air, then fill the bag again with some kind of wire cable lube from a spray can or whatever and work the cable to draw some lube through then leave it for a while hanged up. the lube makes its way to the other end of the cable and yer done
Asher Anderson
Yeah, I'll probably try this. I just hope no one else buys that motion pro luber. All the lube just ended up spraying out the wrong end.
Gavin Cook

ah ok, I'm actually surprised it's easier to find a working car cheaper than a bike. Also I'd have assumed used bike shops would generally cost more? Anyway I'm looking around Melbourne
