It's all about the writing of said characters. Kamoshida had the same motives but it was a better villain than Shido or Kaneshiro.

Well, they all had laid out reasons for their villainy or some depth found in misc dialogue.

yeah the low poly models is the whole reason the visual novel portraits are there. Honestly with the quality of animation and facial expressions on the actual models in P5 you could remove the portraits completely. Especially considering there seems to be more expression on the model than the portraits sometimes.

Robot. Tae is fine, but you get fewer events. Tae is actually criminally under-served in my opinion, and she keeps the attitude of clinical detachment during romance because of multi-purpose lines.
