Thoughts on the buick encore?

I know, I know. "muh suv/crossover, muh get a sports car, muh miata" but I like it, I really do. Without the back seats it seems like a great vehicle for me/girl/dog to go camping or take extended trips without having super shit gas mileage and a super large vehicle. In fact, it's not much heavier than a civic/corolla/mazda3, is shorter than all of them but still has more rear leg room (which doesn't matter if I don't take more than one passenger) and starts around the same price point of ~22 grand.

Why shouldn't I look into this car?

22grand for that? Are you being serious?

For that money you could buy something good

The Chevy Trax is the exact same car and you can get one of the 2017's for around 17k.

-t Guy who's parents traded their boomer-barge SUV in for this little guy and it has been great.

A 2017 trax msrp is only 1k lower than a buick encore's.

If you get that car, you'll start knitting and making cookies.

post tits. only old women like this car.

it's slow as fuck. you'd be better suited to a 15k v6 rav4.

Get a used 4runner you cuck.

Buying a new crossover in the current year is a retarded meme.

Know someone who had the Chevy version. Pile of shit. Tractor diesel. Cheap look and feel. Rattly. Harsh seats and ride for something this tall. Bad visibility.

Stop the thread! Op must know what the Pontiac Aztek is the best crossover out there

>only 1k cheaper
for the same car

Get the Ford Escape. Even the 1.6 ecoboost has more power, or you can upgrade to the 2.0 and get 240 HP

it's shitty and soulless. but solid gas mileage. feels like a rental car. tiny fords are prob better but encore is selling well, so it's not so bad

Don't do it, OP. I had to drive a trax for a few weeks and wanted to die.

>Slow as dogshit
>Electronic throttle is either nothing or WOT
>Steering feels disconnected from the road
>Poor rear visibility
>Cheap as fuck plastic rattly interior
>Ride is stiff and uncomfortable
>Topheavy

Listen to

It looks short and stubby

honestly sounds like my rav 4 but rav4 is kinda fun when the road is dirt or snow and ice. Then its in its own element.

Buick has a much better interior than the trax.

You can get a first gen Acura RDX with the K23 Turbo motor and the torque vectoring SH-AWD for less than these pieces of shit

a nicer interior doesn't fix the fact that it's slow as fuck

I doubt OP is getting a crossover to bench race you fucking dipshits.

When did the car community become so fucking retarded?

It's not about benchracing. It's called having adequate power for merging.

>recommending a better shot of for a better price
>retarded

The absolute state of you

Honest question. Why a crossover as apposed to a Cruze, Civic, Golf? Is the backseat that much bigger?

A hatchback would be so much better to drive.

t b h the new redesigned gmc terrain is pretty sharp -- far more muscular/masculine. i assume similar msrp

This. It's a slow euroshitbox, and while it might have enough power to merge when everyone else is driving 1.2l diesel shitboxes, in America it's borderline unsafe when even a shitbox Accord or Camry has a 300hp V6 option.

Because power=driving speed? Why would a v6 accord's 75mph be any worse than a civic's?

why do Americans consider this a luxury car?
the European version of this is a bottom tier rental car for a family of 4

>Comprehension
It's about getting to speed you fucking moron, no one is debating whether 75mph is more dangerous in a Civic or an Accord, Jesus you're fucking dumb

Because the brand and trim levels they are sold with, seriously

Because people fall for GM's "rebadge this car and charge 70% more for it" and have for the past half-century

Oh I wasn't aware speed limits in USA were fucking 190mph.
lrn 2 carry speed through corners.
I can merge in my 1.8l shitbox easily because from the apex of highway ramp I need to only accelarate for 10 mph if its raining.

Yeah, problem with that is when you have slow people merging in front of you
If they have a car that can accelerate faster than you from the speed they are forcing everyone behind them to go, then they have no disadvantage
You're also not taking into consideration that motorists on the highway are selfish as fuck and do dumb shit like not move out of the right lane when a merging on ramp is coming up

But how would you know considering you've never been out of your socialist shithole of a continent

>while it might have enough power to merge when everyone else is driving 1.2l diesel shitboxes, in America it's borderline unsafe when even a shitbox Accord or Camry has a 300hp V6 option.
So a diesel shitbox's 75mph isn't as dangerous then

That eco boost is utter garbage. Lag from hell.

75MPH is 75MPH. How quickly you can get there compared to the rest of traffic determines how dangerous you are.

>Why shouldn't I look into this car?
>Buying a GM product

If you're content with subpar build quality and materials, then go for it. There's a reason why actual luxury brands don't retail for $22K new.

Buick gets top marks in reliability and owner satisfaction.

ironic shillposting is still shillposting

Look it up doode

Don't sass me boy

My gf and I teat drove it when she was looking for a new car. We liked it and all but its too small.

If you want a small suv just get the Forester like we did.

When all seats are folded its got a good amount of room

I'd never buy a FWD GM product. Everyone of my friends who has regretted it.

if you want a normie car, please get something lexus

I wouldn't buy one of these -- but they lease well. strong MPG, onstar, sirius, roadside, free oil changes. soulless, sure -- but practical.

It's fun to toss around (for a tiny SUV), and the headroom is incredible, but the acceleration isn't exactly peppy, and I drove the fastest accelerating one.

You really know nothing about Buicks differentiation from Chevy.

Buicks get the better engines, better sound deadening, and better materials and much better build quality.
