I usually confederate. They tend not to attack you much but spend most of their time glaring at you, so I just go crusade for the glory of the Tree Reich in the Badlands/Norsca.

It would be. GoT is shit setting itself and terrible one for Total War game, series focused on battles. The only really detailed part of this world is Westeros which is also the only one place that matters. So basically all armies would be copies of each other. TW:GOT wouldn't utilize almost any opportunities fantasy worlds give, so it is just better to make historical title instead. GoT works the best in CK, though.

Honestly, Warhammer is probably the best choice they could make with making fantasy game. They can put all things they couldn't and will never put in historical titles. Not only Warhammer have both bows and gunpowder, but also magic, monsters, necromancy, corruption, even fucking tanks and helicopters. Warhammer have everything, every other fantasy world would be mechanically inferior.

Only Age of Mythology could be equally fun.
Why the fuck there is no Age of Mythology mod yet, all you have to do is to add monsters to army rosters. You can even pull it off in Attila and Rome 2

No one cares about strategy games and crackers do it for fame and all those different kinds of (you)s they get in various places. All strategy games players of all sub-generes are autistic, so most of people who wanted to play this already bought it and spent hundreds of hours in it. Thus only miniority of miniority haven't played it yet, so why bother?
Also Warhammer was (and still is) constantly updated with fixes and new content in form of dlc and flc.

Shogun 1 plays like ass though and you can just auto-battle to victory instead of having everything be mapped to left click.

Medieval 2 is still good but you have a lot of work to do with remapping controls to get WASD working.
Rome 1 still feels really nice I think. Launching pila and murdering like 30 troops is always great. Cavalry hits hard, onagers are inaccurate as fuck, balista and scorpions are fine, I think.

Shogun 2 is fantastic. Every unit has a purpose, archers are the strongest in that game than any other.

Warhammer feels and sounds fanfuckingtastic. Some people complain that the battles are too fast though but I think it's fine.

Confederate is easier, because it's forced. But there is also a chance to snipe their cities if they send their stacks away.
Don't forget to demand max gold from them when you confederate. But farming enough Amber can be tricky. Try to focus on tech that gives a diplomatic boost, Bretonnia for example can be good source as military allies. Be careful with randomly making defence and military pacts, because you can get dragged into unnecessary wars. If possible, postpone it until you have enough possible Amber to start upgrading Oak of Ages right away.

Appease surrounding factions around and make sure that they are busy with themselves instead of you. Force Belegar and co focus on orcs and Skarsnik. Bretonnia should be occupied with Marienburg, Mousilon and Karak Ziflin. You should be wary about other Wood Elves, because then can go to war with you and snipe Oak of Ages. Usually, it's happens through alliances with Bretonnia. Tilea has a high chance of attacking you. Make sure you have a built Guard Platform in King's Glade.

Hire Tree Hero and immediately disband him, especially after you get a tech for 2 hero ranks and spec in healing spells. Rehire him for free if you see bad guys coming toward your cities/outposts.

Early game, having a negative income is fine, your main source of income should be raiding and razing.

I recommend travelling towards Badlands and farming low defence Orc cities here. It also gives nice diplo boost, try to work toward an alliance with Dwarves and Border Princes. You can also nab some harbour cities if you want. Don't make war with all Orc factions, especially if they are fighting against other greenskins. Bloody Handz and Grimgor faction should be enough. Make good use of Waystalker and use him as a scout (he has insane map vision) so you wouldn't run into scary situations and lookout for an easy prey.

Worth buying? No.
Worth pirating? Yes.

Play VC, Empire and Dorfs, stay away from everything else.

Sequel already got greenlighted and is halfway done apparently and they got all that money from greedy DLC practises.

Is the battle judge broken in Warhammer or what? I've had multiple battles which should have been decisive victories at the least but I they're considered as "close victories" instead despite me taking very small losses and the enemies' armies being absolutely annihilated with the foe having more troops at the start.

I've had some weird pyrrhic victories as well, pic related (I have no clue why it's so dark, just used f12). According to auto resolve my chances were close to zero. Louen Leoncouer was already very low health before the fight even began so it can't be because of health damage on the lord.

Maybe was a bit wrong on the description, but after a battle or two, the loading screen just freezes in the middle, music still plays but the loading bar doesn't move an inch

Just finished my first Wood Elf campaign. Feel free to tear apart the army comp i used to win the final battle. Just a couple things i want to mention cause why not.

First thanks to the user a thread or 2 ago that mentioned to mostly ignore the gpt and just get my income from razing/fighting. Made it so much easier to play till i got the confederations and whatnot all together.

Other then that holy shit wild riders are awesome. It seems like the ranged assassin hero kinda sucks in actual battles. The dragons you get are instant enemy break machines. And finally are all hawk units shit? I kept the hawk archer you started with around all game and while it was a help early on it really felt like it never did anything all that amazing later.

The battle judge in Warhammer is very fucking picky. I've had like two or three heroic victories in all my hours with it.

How long does it take you to complete a campaign? Real time/playtime/# of turns? Are some games/special campaigns significantly longer or shorter than others?

Yes, I can exit the game using alt tab and close it with task manager normally, but the loading bar will never progress after reaching the middle

I'd maybe switch out the Eternal Guard with Asrai Spears if my economy was going well but looks good anyway,

See if the same thing happens if you launch the game and play a couple of custom battles or if it only happens in the campaign.

A reinstall should fix it, if it's the legit steam version, if its the pirated version you're pretty much screwed.

I feel Hawkriders are a somewhat awkward unit in that they can do some ranged damage and some ap damage on the charge, but are outperformed in both areas by other units (Glade Riders, Eagles).

Also, this makes me want to do an elf-only campaign; I got a mainline of Treekin as soon as possible and I honestly feel it made things a tad too easy.

So I have a question about Marienburg. Its a free city right? But everytime I meet marienburg its conquered by Bretonnia. I play the Empire right now and I'm thinking about waging war against Bretonnia, but who does it really belong to? To the Empire or to Bretonnia? Of course Bretonnia will be a massive nation by then, so I'm not sure if a full on war with another big nation will be worth it. Since I will probably have trouble with Chaos tribes from the north, vampires to the southeast and Orcs to the south...

eagles are shit in every way. Hawk riders will kill what you want the eagles to kill in a fraction of the time in melee and can mess up armoured units really good as well.
