i agree to an extent if only manual existed alot of shitty drivers would be removed. but manually selecting your gears does not make your car go faster. i would rather drive a manual but they just aren't competitive against autos.

I drove a manual Nissan truck the other day, and fuck me, it sucks having to push a clutch pedal down EVERY SINGLE TIME you want to change gears. Fuck that, it's just a chore now to me.

Why? Automatic transmissions are better for river crossings and deep snow driving as well as hill climbing because there is no clutch to waterlog and you have constant traction. That is why automatic transmission is considered better in places like Iceland where offroading happens on your commute.

but if there were 2 of the same car and 1 was auto, and the other was manual, the auto would shift at 3k rpm, while the manual would be accelerating faster by shifting closer to redline.

I wish I owned a manual so I could develop the unjustified spite for people that are essentially just more efficient than me.

Drove auto for the past 3 years and just recently switched back to manual for the new daily. Manual is fun but honestly auto is better for daily. When Im driving to work I honestly don't give a fuck. I drive like a grandma so I get better MPGs. The car is a n/a subaru impreza so its not particularly enjoyable even if I was to really get on it.
