Green flags when buying a car

>owned by an old person
>everything is stock
>clear pics of everything

> has VIN
> shows plate
> picture of dash confirms miles
> lists personal phone number
> responds to emails promptly

>full service history
>new inspection
>photos of everything

Aye, bought my first bimmer from an old white couple and it ran perfectly for years, never had an issue.

For motorbikes, additionally:
>seller's name is not foreign
>lives in residential area with lots of family homes
>fairing colors match all around
>stored in garage
>fairweather rider
>tank is filled up when you show up to test ride
>guy is knowledgeable about bikes and riding

That's how I got my S2000 all stock OEM hardtop garage kept clean title .

lmao my grandmother's 07 corolla is dealer serviced, everything perfectly maintained, except she hits fucking everything so the car is covered in paint scratches.

>additional pictures of the undercarriage & sills are available upon request

This was my exact experience buying my ZR. Pull up to a gated community with $1M dollar homes. Guys garage looked like a show room. Had immaculate bikes from vintage to new that he restored for races. He wanted an Africa Twin and his wife said one of the 10 had to go. Asked $2500 for it and I got it for $1000 just because he needed to make room for it. Bike has never gave me any grief

Holy shit, that's nice. Post pic!

my grandpa sold his 2011 Colorado and the nigger who bought it complained about the bed being scratched up. I don't know why he'd care that much about paint on a fucking work truck.

Are you the one that bought my mint 2002 Suzuka Blue S2000 then had someone hit it in a parking lot?

Had to steal an instapic I’m not home at the moment so sorry for bad pic

...

>tyres with more than 75% tread
>recently washed
>no traces of hair, stones or rubbish in interior
>no clutter in interior, any items are securely stowed

Cool bean.

Thanks

>be a smoker
>car owned by smoker
>pretend not to be a smoker and make a big deal about the smell
>they take a good chunk out of the price because of it

>tfw literally did all newbie mistakes one could do when buying a 2nd hand car for the first time
>still got a pretty good deal for 2k and had to spend 600€ only in repairs

only 600? that's good. i was a fucking retard and lost £1500

>smoking in the car
>ever

well mechanics are piss cheap in spain. that said i still havent fixed the right electrical windshield wich could be 100€ more or so.
>fucking gypsies in south madrid telling me "yeah it comes with warranty because we are a qualified vendor and a vendor contract comes with 12 month warranty"
>it was actually a normal person to person contract
>didnt even check anything when doing the test drive
>didnt even open the hood
if they brown and speak spanish, dont trust a word they say.

>Owned by an older guy
>Stock
>Lives in a nice community
>Has a garage
>Has some pics
>Has a huge binder with maintenance records
>Email him and he takes more pictures, sends me the vin, and is honest about any issues it has
>Talk on the phone about it and why he wants to get rid of it
>Better in person than it was on the photos
>Could tell the owner loved the shit out of that car and really didn't want to get rid of it
>Worked with me on price
>Even had a notary friend of his who fudged the bill of sale so i paid way less on taxes
>Mfw i originally though it was too good to be true
>It was real

Bill, i'll take damn good care of it.

>if they brown and speak spanish, dont trust a word they say.

Easy, because I don't understand what they're saying to begin with ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

>owned and operated in New England
>spotless
>no rust
>engine bay damn near looks like a factory fresh showroom
>subtle clues prev. owner did in fact "enjoy" the car
>but obviously cared enough about it to keep it this nice

Cafebro

>they aren't white
less racist fucks

So, I'm gonna go ahead and point something out, it only really applies in the southern US that I know of (although you might have similar experiences in other parts of the country, or in other countries, idk):

Amerifats do not have a culture of haggling. They do not have a culture of playing out transactions like some soap opera where you sit there arguing with the seller about this and that. We expect to have a price listed, we say "okay, but you didn't mention this, this, and this fucked-up part of the car", the seller will be like "fine, you caught me, I'll knock the price down to X", you respond "I'll pay no more than Y, and that's it", you negotiate some middle ground, and you'll go about your day.

I do not want to have some ese sitting there saying "come on, mang, this is da only [Model] you'll find that looks this good, I gots a family to feed dog, I din't even notice that rust mang, blah blah blah excuses".

And especially if they're clearly ESL? I don't want to need an interpreter to explain to them that I can clearly see there was body work done, so I want the price down to fucking bedrock.

>Mentions any real problems and points out other imperfections
>Wants to meet in person for you to check it out and test driving rather than just meeting up to sell the thing
>Listing doesn't say "no tire kickers I KNOW WHAT I HAVE"

>Good tires
>Good Tires
>GOOD TIRES

Damn I like this. Very good looking without being overdone

Thanks
Selling it for an XR. Function over form imo

>plus it doesnt run

>buy older jap car
>owned by old lady who died of cancer (probably, she smoked)
>serviced religiously
>records in glove-box confirm this
>ALL records in glove-box,, even little things like "checkups
>rust free because daughter tells me she was afraid to drive in winter
>find cutout of national newspaper story "what do in case of winter accident"

Feels good man

>white 40yo+ male owner
>original floor mats in good condition
>engine bay hasn't been recently degreased
>everything stock
>still has original sale paperwork and and owners Manual

Have fun buying a shitbox that should have been written off, but was secretly """repaired""" on the dl by Juan's older cousin.

>Ask for more pictures
>They send more pictures

No I bought it about a month ago in California, it's a 2000 Ap1 Silverstone .
The guy I bought it was in his 80s he only sold it because he couldn't get in or out of it without having pain .

>All of that care
>Smokes
She was careful, just not smart.

I smoke in the car all the time and it doesn't smell like cigs. Do people keep ashtrays in their cars instead of ashing out the window or something?

I just ash on the floormat, or sometimes it comes off mid corner and lands in my lap.
