Lore should always come last in an xcom game imo. So there really is no reason it couldn't be 50% human 50% ethereal. If they decided to write in a more alien looking hybrid, it wouldn't contradict anything in the story thus far.
Not that I really care about how the Avatars look that much, but lore/plot arguments are pretty.

No. Considering that it's just there to show you that the ethereal is "in" the body though, not really sure how that changes anything. It's a completely separate image of an ethereal just floating along, like a ghost possessing something.

nah, lore is a crucial cornerstone for how the aliens look and for how they all work together. The lore creates a reason for why aliens look and act the way they do, and gives us a reason for fighting them. Emotional investment is important for the player and the lore provides that. Having The Thing fighting alongside a cartoony sectoid from ogxcom would just be retarded and take you out of the game.

Right, but I pointed out that having Avatars look alien would not contradict the story as it currently is leading up to their reveal in any way. You would just be changing one thing. In this case, you can literally go:
Enemy design -> fit it into plot
There's nothing there that says the avatars needs to look human. And ironically enough, your argument that if you didn't follow the lore things would look retarded falls really flat when discussing the Avatar which looks the goofiest and most out of place of any of the enemies.

I don't have personal experience with it, so unfortunately can't really help you. I only know other people seem to use it fine.

Nah, the whole ethereal stand thing really ties it all together and avatar posters always crop the images so they can get rid of the best part of the design.

Are loot drops guaranteed for every mission? I've done several in a row with no loot drops and I didn't use explosives to kill anything. Also are Insectoids the best source of Elerium Cores outside of the Supply Raid missions?

Agree to disagree on that point then, the stand stuff doesn't really improve the look of the avatars, they feel to very separate.

Have you tried playing X-COM? I mean really, it's pretty clear for x-com and XCOM that they just threw whatever enemies they wanted into the mix and cobbled the story together afterwards.

I'm not him, I just don't like the counter-arguments because they kinda suck. The design is meh. I would have preferred half to full alien myself.

XCom 2, all the DLC so far. Game grabs random people from the character pool along with some random people for the initial mission and available troops, and then there's some randoms in the recruiting screen and not all of my characters are there. Has happened five times in a row and I've set it to Character Pool Only then exited and restarted the game.

Not sure if you accidentally posted in the wrong general, but from what I've seen it's not really worth it anymore. Either pay up to tremendously reduce the grind for meaningless stuff, or suffer through teenagers, hackers, and many other cancers alike for a decade. Want to just play with singleplayer mods and enjoy the game? Too late, they've already banned that.

I don't know what to tell you user. I've never experienced that before in 1005 hours.

Are pistols useful? I've got a sharpshooter with Quick Study, and I'm thinking about going holotargeting, center mass, and hunter's instincts for eventually +5 damage with better holotargeters. The biggest letdown is that literally none of the MSGT abilities work with pistols, but other than than it seems not that bad.

I read that, in XCom 2, there are crates/boxes in the missions that you can open for loot. Is this true and are they in all missions or only certain types of missions?

While we're on the subject of organizing new squads, how do people set up their dudes early game in Xenonauts? I usually do two fire-teams, one close combat with a shield, two assaults, and a rifleman, and one cover element with three riflemen and a machine gunner.

Honestly it was amazingly fun and my first real challenge. I'd had some close calls lost about 4 rookies since the start. But no major cockups. Until this.

Almost a code black and that was my favorite team as well. It was a grenidier a rocketeer a medic and 3 riflemen. Thank Christ for light em up. Without that we would have been over run immediatly.

I would imagine they do as they don't teleport in, but I'm not sure if they'd show up as ENEMY UNKNOWN or not if you encountered their base unit.

I just found out that the "delay dark event by two weeks" hack is actually useful since it pushes all 3 of them back and stops new ones from popping up

i always thought it just meant that the current dark events would get delayed and then pop at the same time as the ones from two weeks later but no, its actually good, which is surprising
i regret skipping over it all the time

in vanilla no it wont, but there is a catch
there will always be less enemies on a mission with a ruler so if you notice a mission with an abnormally low enemy count there will probably be a ruler

Does anyone have a strategy guide for Long War 2? I can't git gud and keep losing to Avatar completion.

How many soldiers do you guys usually have in a LW2 campaign? I feel like I can't gear up more than 20-25 soldiers but I keep seeing people with 50-60 even 100+ soldiers in a campaign all with mag/plasma and power armor on commander/legend difficulty...

You'll need up to 50-60. If you gear it up right, you can equip the old squads with your older gear. The extra missions you can do will give you enough resources to gear them up.

I think it's a go big or go home kind of thing. If you can win a lot of larger supply raid, corpse retrieving missions you can get the supplies from that mission, and even the worst corpse sells for 5, so just 12 corpses is an extra 60 supplies even if they were all trash.
